Here is the Kingfisher with the canopies masked and I hand brushed the front of the fuselage just to see how it looks visually.  I'll be AB the body and hand brushing certain areas.

BrandonK

Well done on the readers gallery and the KF is looking like one now for sure. Looking forward to seeing some color on it.

BK

Thank you BrandonK.  I am shocked that my Harrier was chosen, then again I really really enjoyed building the Harrier and I guess it shows as such.  I'm in the process of organizing the canopy masks and then it'll be taking care of the little things then finally the first coat of paint.  So I hope it goes in this way!  LOL!

Go Toshi, Go Toshi, Go Toshi!

Well done, after all the issues you had, you pushed past the problem, gave it a good kick as you blasted past it.

Your on the home stretch mate.

Great work.

Thank you so much sir!  I think I only had four hours of sleep as I've been doing some of the PE prep while the main Pontoon dried to the fueselage.  I definitely gave it a good kick as you so correctly stated but I don't think I blasted past it, more like crawl at a snails space!  LOL!  Thank you so much for your support in my builds.  Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

On a completely different subject, I've made it into the Digital Readers Gallery for the fourth time with my Trumpeter 1/48 Night Attack Harrier for the July issue.  Yeah!  Here's the excepts.

Toshi Miura

Streetsboro, Ohio

Happy to be back in a modeling space, Toshi says, “This is my first build after a month of moving from a three-bedroom condo to a two-bedroom condo. Do you know how difficult that is? That’s like hand-brushing a 1/48 scale B-29 Superfortress. Actually, I’d rather hand-paint a B-29 than move!” Instead, he airbrushed Trumpeter’s 1/32 scale Harrier with Vallejo paints.

After letting the CA sit overnight, everything looks great!  I'll be applying the PE details at this point, I just hope I can make it happen!  LOL!

This took awhile to do.  I had to use Gorrila brush on CA, waited till that set, then added a bit of thin CA with an accelerator.

Then I hit it with some thick CA and let that sit overnight.  I'll find out tomorrow if this monster pontoon is stuck to the airframe so I can add some PE to enhance it a bit!  Thank you fellow forum members for putting up with my rants.  I just needed to get the frustrations out and off my chest!

Toshi

P.S. At least the metal landing gears fit fine!  I'm glad I purchased that as that was a very good investment.

To to my fellow forum members,

My latest progress includes the two small pontoons.  It was a very difficult assembly as some of the attachment points were nonexistent.  I had to drill my own holes and use CA to glue the pontoons on.  They are very delicate to the touch hence the CA.

Now comes the main pontoon, and I have no idea on how to attach this as the attachment points are so small compared to the size of the main pontoon.  I just don't understand how such a design can exist.

But, please forgive my negative discussion here as this is positively one cool plane.  With these issues that I will definitely overcome, I think and feel that this build will at the very least turn out to be a very satisfying kit to build.  The Vought OS2U Kingfisher!

Jay Jay

I am still following this build in earnest.

I am disappointed to hear that this Kingfisher kit is a difficult and ill fitting one because I planned to make it my next purchase. Now I have second thoughts about that since I need a break from all the effort it takes to make a silk purse from a sow's ear. I 'm currently working on a 1/350 resin ship and this pricey kit is just garbage, but I hafta perserve because it's the ship on which my Father served in WWII and it's the only one to be found.

Thank you for always supporting and following my builds, I am greatly appreciative of this!  Yes, I too am somewhat disappointed in this kits engineering.  I would definitely read reviews of this kit prior to it's purchase as it might save you the time, effort, and especially the money on this kit.  As you so rightly describe; "A silk purse from a sows ear" LOL!

I wish you the best of luck in assembling the 1/350 resin ship.  You'll do your father very proud!  I have the upmost confidence in your skills.

Hi Toshi,

See you have your photo hosting issues worked out, I haven't.

I bought this kit when it came out and was afraid it might have been full of little fit errors. After seeing the great job you are doing, I will keep it, but may not build it for a few years.  I am at present burned out on ill-fitting kits.  Then again, you look like your having soo much fun, I may have to start mine.

Scott

Yes, for now I do have control back to my PB issues.  This issue as you so well described "I'll fitting kits", is somewhat of a setback.  I hope you have a more successful time in assembling this kit and wish you the best of luck!  I am definitely having fun building this awful kit!  LOL!  I will persevere in this endeavor.  Thank you for always watching my back and supporting my builds!

Bish

Looking good Toshi, thats one impresive looking kit.

& well congrats on getting the Harrier onto the gallery.

Thank you so much Bish!  It's definitely impressive but comes at a price of I'll fitting issues.  Yet, I can see the horizon once I complete (Fix) each step.  Thank you for the congratulations on my fourth gallery entry of my Harrier build!  And thank you so much for your support!
