Lufty....many of us checked resources to find an active duty -4 in tri-color for chukw to emulate with no luck. So this will be his scheme......gotta keep this one real.

Thanks, guys- thanks a million!   The build';s comig along, bit by bit- and  now I feel like some real progress is being made! 

To answer some questions:   

Lufty, I've settled on a Randolph  bird- white ailerons and rudder stripes.   Mal Mayfield at Miracle Paint Masks has made me a custom set, and I'll (hopefully) be painting on the markings and insignis this weekend.  BTW the wheel bay masking wasn't all that hard.  The wet-tissue technique I fing to be hard on delicate bits, as it moulds around 'em, then dries too hard in place.  I can never get all the fibers out, either.  

sfcmac, I wouldn't bank on a thin strip of furnace tape holding permanently, unless you also used some superglue to lock it in place.  The adhesive is good across a large area, but weaker on thin strips.   

weebles, I love that paint stand!  You'll notice I do lay a piece of a favorite old t-shirt across the bearers to guard the finish.  The bomb bay is protected by a foam insert- I wouldn't dare use it to support the plane with all that etch within!  The Tamiya set also comes witha turntable and some metal spring clips, so it's a real deal.  

skydivin, if you trash that kit I'll cry!  Build it, I say!  BUILD IT!!

Coming along nicely, chukw!

That's a great tip about the sanding swabs, I'm going to get me some of those.  There have been so many times I needed to spot-sand, and all that I had was tiny pieces of sandpaper.

Nice use of Post-Its, too. I use them for Luftwaffe splinter patterns, too, they're very handy.

How do you like the Tamiya paint stand?  I'm assuming you have it supported in the bomb bay.  Is there any danger of damaging the interior work?  Thinking about getting one but looking for a review.

 Oh I wouldn't fret Smeagol, It may just look like another actual 1/1 scale Hell Diver. Ready to Launch on an attack strike!.  The details he has added are going to make an extreme difference than a straight from the box build.  You may not notice the suttle diffs like a new canopy or it.s framing at first blush but even a person unfamiliar with modeling and Hell Divers is gonna see something special about this bird!

This build has become an obsession for many of us!  The work is magnificent, and you have just given me a great ideas as to how do a better weathering job!  Thanks a million for sharing this build;  you are on the home stretch now!
