Don't you hate when you paint a part, and then days or weeks later, find a major scratch or huge pit that has to be filled, and you know that wasn't there before! Of course, you gotta fix the dang thing, then go through all the sanding process, then re-prime, then re-paint. That happened to a seat for my tornado chaser about a year or two ago.

Very nice. Such patience rubbing ot all the glue and imperfections.  It is shaping up well and the color looks to be groovy!

When you get a chance I was curious about the use of tape as bomb door hinges and how well that has worked out. I'm working on some fiddeley bomb doors on a PV-1 Ventura and that technique looked as if it has promise! Great work. Glad you are feeling better and enjoyed your weekend! Thumbs Up [tup]

Hangar rash?  You call that Hangar Rash?  I'll show you HANGAR RASH!!!

No, I won't.  Chuk, you are a different plane of modeling than I am.  I've just learned to call hangar rash weathering, since I don't do that well eitherSmile [:)]

Thanks for the enjoyable update.

Superb work as always, chuk. I like Giant Abe's new buffed-up look, too.

Bow [bow] What a great update. Really looking forward to each one. Will wait with baited breath for next wonderful installment...

Liked the idea about showing up the mask cuts. First time I used some, had a dickens of a time finding the seperations. Banged Head [banghead]....what a knothead....sometimes things aren't too clear after beating your head against the workbench for so long.

Will look forward the weathering and such...

Wow seeing you start the painting process is bringing tears to my eyes. Must be the fumes. Just bouncing around the forum it seems like there is a rash of clearcoating issues, Being cloudy or reacting with the decals extc. Stay sharp! The painting part is one of the hardest for me!

Wow.... awesome chukw.  Thanks for the tutorial on the disks!!  I've also been trying to make some and that helps immensely.  And those masks.... what a simple idea that works SO WELL!!  I've always had trouble finding the edges too.  They sure cut them with a thin blade!!!  LOL!!

Cant wait for the next installment!

Excellent installment, Chuck. Tops as usuall. The masking of the wheel wells looked nightmarish. I wonder if i may be so humble to suggest an idea for future reference? Another Talented fella on this site, Swanny, gave me the idea of putting tissue paper in open orifices and then settling them in place with a few drops of water. Saves on Tamiya tape, doesnt damage delicates inside and holds securely.

Paint is making this bird look sweet. You are definately on the final stretch and im really looking forward to your weathering techniques. Are you going for a well worn bird, factory fresh or somewhere inbetween?

More inquiring minds need to know.

Chuck maybe this has already been mentioned but: when you are done could you compile all of your instructions and photos into one file so we can keep it as a reference guide. It sure would be a handy tool to keep on the desktop.

Thanks for all the good vibrations, gents!  I've gotten over that ghastly flu in time for a busy streak with work and home, and now I've got a summer cold.  Waah!   Don't worry, though- I'm plugging along and all is on the uphill swing.   I've been adding to the build all along the way, and this weekend the Beast has turned a corner- read on, faithful comrades!

Just logged on today to see how the Helldiver was coming along and get a little inspiration before I cut some plastic. I hope everything's OK!

The metal tape is a great stroke......not exactly my brand....but if it works. Just be sure to burnish it well!

Hope yer feeling better chukw!

So, what'd the doctor say? Hope it's nothing serious and you'll be okay!

I myself have been battling my own medical issue (a hernia) for some months. Gotta get that darned thing fixed. It's a race between the hernia and trying to get the funds to pay for the surgery.Sad [:(]

On a lighter note, part of the reason why it's taken me nearly six years to build my current project (and it's still not finished) is all the time I've had to spend filling...sanding...filling...sanding...filling...you get the picture. It took me six months of off-and-on work to get the roll cage finished.

Glad to see you're back, anyway!Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

chukw.....Lots of inspiration and encouragement to be had in these fora. But I was in danger of hitting a wall with my SBD build. I went back and reviewed this beastly build for some different ideas. My build is not as ambitious, of course, but I found something to light that bulb above my head.

I've seen my way 'round the problem and am heading for the wild blue, yonder!

Great ref here!

Oh boy no germs allowed! Thanks for the latest installment Chuck. I am like ,"WHat else can he possibly do?" and yet you just keep on making it better.  I hope you realize that you got me cutting open molded doors and Namrednef is even drawing pics. So many others seem to be inspired to take a little more time and make things like a little better.

Get well soon! Make a Toast [#toast]

A little bit of sugar helps the "medicine" go down, ya know. Hope you get well soon. Been there done that, not recently though. Got so bad that I did not even work on a model for several months ( itching to get to it later though).

Really enjoy your updates. They are one of the things that I look forward to each week. Keeps me coming back to the forum. Your skills make me want to take more time on my own projects.

Take care......
