Okay guys,
I have decided to train my airbrushing skills with a easy model,
So I found this Red Baron Fokker Dr. I from Revell, which is a Eduard rebox
And since it's a triplane which you won't see that often, it fits with this Group Build.
(Don't worry, I will still finish my Corsair)
Now I have worked on this thingie and decided that it's time to show you guys my progress.

  the box

I started by painting the inside, this is the first time I tried to make a wood grain, didn't really get what I wanted but yeah.

I did the rest of this cockpit and glued the two fuselages together.

had to do some sanding and cutting before mounting the second wing.

I couldn't really get a better picture of the detailed parts, but I'm pretty happy with the finished work of the guns and engine

I drybrushed the engine with some flat black to highlight the engine details, after that I drybushed it some more with Revell Rust paint.

The instructions said that I had to glue these things on top of this thing

But they didn't fit at all, so I drilled some holes and the inside part so I can put these inside the part.

This is what the Fokker looks like now, I will try to build some more when other things stop to occupy all my time.

With regards, Ninetalis

Thank you very much Griffin!
I finished the Fokker yesterday, she's 99% done,
just need to put some more subtle accent details on it.

Sadly enough, I don't have any progress pic's of this project, my camera's battery died so while it was reloading I finished this little guy.
Some big issue that I had was that I had used the wrong part for the struts on the main landing gear, those parts were to be placed between the main fuselage and the upper wing...
After a lot of sweat, swearing, cutting and glueing I fixed the darn thing! yeehaw!

I was thinking to rig the model, but I have no idea how, and I found a few good explanations (I think) but I don't have the right wire laying around. I will stop by the store some time and rig it, but for the time beeing, it is done. Also, any sites explaining how to rig stuff are still welcome!
There are also a lot of firsts on this one,
first complete airbrush, first non-WWII, first WWI, first time I used my 'Tamiya mud pen', first wood grain prop...
I'm really proud about the wooden prop! But no more blabla, here are the pic's.

Here are some pic's of the mud from the 'Mud pen', I really like this thing, and I'm gonna use it a lot more, especially when I will make my 1/48 tanks...

With regards, Ninetalis.

Great finish Ninetalis!

I've started my Tomcat but progress is S-L-O-W while I'm trying to finish another GB project.

Looks good Ninetalis. The mud is a good variation on it, I think. I have one sans mud in the back of the cabinet somewhere, a bit like this but I think with the straight crosses.

Don't worry about the rigging, The DR1 had very little of it, I think only on the control surfaces from memory.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Okay Handiabeld, and thanks! Hope that your bench will be in place again soon!
I'll be looking forward for your contribution.

Griffin, Thanks did it work out with your kit because I remember that you had some trouble with ebay and such?
What kit do you have now? And you can allways post some pic's to make us happy with progress!

Taxtp, Thanks, I really like that mud pen, thought that I might have bouth something useless
since it wasn't all that pricey, but the results are so easy to apply and so beautifull, If I would be building alot of armor models I would buy tons of those!
I still want to apply the rigging if it would still be possible, since I glued the whole thing in place allready, but indeed, there isn't that much and the wires that are there were indeed used to control the rudders and elevators.

With regards, Ninetalis.

I now have my bench set up at home. I have got started on the Triebflugel last week, but its been a bit slow, but should pick up now. I should have some cockpit pics up this weekend.

As promised, some progress pics. I started the build about 2 weeks ago, but its been slow going due to one thing and another. Finally got the pit finished to day.

The seat is a resin Pavla one desgined for the He 162. And the controls are from an Eduard PE set for the Me 262. They have been trimmed down and put in different places.

I have now put the front fuselage together. As someone else has mentioned, you can't see very much in there. I now have quite a bit of sanding and a little rescribing to do.

You have my entry correct on the front page. Wink I ended up getting a full refund on the kit on ebay and I got to keep the model.

I've only got a couple pieces glued together - no paint yet. I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Thanks TREY. The rescribe isn't to bad, its just that i have never done any scribeing before. I don't have a proper tool at the moment so an just useing a scalpel blade. It seems to be looking of.

Was that the 48 or the 28 scale triplane Ninetails? Ive been eyeing the 28 at the LHS but im not sure.

It was the 1/48 kit, everything I build is 1/48, sometime I do a 1/32, I don't use any other scale for my airplanes.

I don't know how the fit and detail is on the 1/28 kit, but the 1/48 kit is really great, it's an Eduard rebox.

A few days ago I picked up a box from a store which sells all sorts of stuff for reasonable prices,
While I was making a drawing I remembered that I had some bottles with some special paint in it, made to paint on glass and when it was dry, you could apply it to any sort of surface and it would stick on it forever.
I had this 'bright' idea to paint a plane on the box, since I was going to use it for my modelling stuff.
Since I don't really had a lot of colors I chose the box art of my fokker box...

As I allready mentioned, I have had these bottles for a long time and don't know if I'm gonna find any new ones, I'm gonna search for a brown bottle to paint the prop.

I also decided not to rig the fokker because it would be to hard now that I allready painted and 'finished' it allready, I don't want to screw things up with my limited knowledge so I'm gonna leave it for what it is.

With regards, Ninetalis.

That's pretty cool, Ninetalis!

The Fokker looks great without the rigging. As we say over here, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

can I add a new kit? Im frakensteining an old MiG kit and it will have folding wings. Its not going to be a real aircraft, just something Im bashing together for the heck of it.

Thanks Griffin, I just want to play save and not screw this thing while it the absence of those wires aren't that bad all 'n' all.
No problem Owl, you can add that to the build, Still gonna make that Crusader or gonna swap that with this new thing?

Time for an update on the Triebflugel. I am just about ready to start getting the paint on. I am going to paint the aircraft un assemebled, a first for me. The rescribing on the front section just behind the canopy went ok, but not perfect. I need some practice and a better tool. The panel lines on the rear section are out by a tiny amount but i have decided to leave them rather than make it worse.

I have decided to go with a paint scheme of all over light green with motteling of dark green and brown violet. More soon.

Im still planning on the crusader. There's a bit of surgery required to fit resin upgrades on that one, so I guess this old MiG kit is practice!

Heres another update on the Triebflugel. The painting is now complete. I gave it an all over coat of light green and motteling of Dark Green and Brown Violet, though its hard to tell the last two apart.

One thing i hate about close up photo's, they show up things you can't se with the naked eye.Going to have to try and remove those little lumps now i know they are there.

The RD band isn't perfect, i still don't have the nack for masking curved pieces like this. But its not to bad.

The paints nearly dry now, who says enamel takes a long time. So i should have the few decals on tonight.

Thanks for looking.

Bish, your Triebflugel seems to be coming along nicely!
I'm not such a great shot at masking curved fuselages either, as you maybe could see with my wildcat in the Grumman Iron Works Group build, but to be honest, you can't really see it on the pictures...

It seems that you have some dust here and there in your paint on the nose, what a pity...
Anyway, Can't wait to see this little guy finished!

Thanks, ye those curves are a bit tricky. Unfortunatly i am not able to work in dust free enviroment. I could relly do with getting something to cover the model while they dry. But you can't see them at all with the naked eye. I have no=w got the decals on so will be applying the matt coat tomorrow.

Yeah I have those same problems you know, I have a lot of pets so they make a lot of dust and such so, I  have a sort of drying cabin that I made which dries the models without getting the dust to easy to it.

Can't wait for pictures!

Thanks Bsyamato. Got a quck update as i am away this coming week.

The nose section has had its flat coat applied and I have added metal MG 151 cannon, a pitot probe and antennas, all items intend for He 162 and Me 262.

On the rear section i have added the decals and a flat coat, as well as the main wheel.

I am leaving final assemply until the last possable moment. By the time i get home, i should have a soldering iron so i can make an access tower for this and get a Dio finished.

Thanks for looking, and all comments welcome.
