I've found that gentle rubbing the model with an old cotton T-Shirt removes most of the dust that can accumulate on a model's paint job.

Thanks, and thanks for the tip. I will have to remember that. And i don't think the close up photos help either. They make small errors look far worse than they are. Or am i just makeing excuses lol.

At this scale its hard to show detail, but i think i am going to have to practice with the camera a bit

Bish, nice progress, don't be to hard on yourself, I think that you are doing a great job so far!
The dust could happen to anyone, but rubbing with a soft cloth or old shirt can fix this rather quickly as mentioned by Griffin.
Taking pictures up close does indeed make your errors look far worse then they actually are as you said.

Try to take your pictures from a distance, then cut them into to the right size to post 'em here, I mostly try to do the same thing when taking pictures of the model itself.

Ye, thats what i normally do with photos. But when it comes to these small pieces, i feel compelled to get up close for some reason. I must remember to restrain myself.

This image is from Luft 46 and this is what i am baseing my Dio on.

I am going to attempt to build an access tower similar to that. Now that should be fun.

Thanks john. Its a FW Triebflugel, one of the many late war German designs that never made it off the drawing board. Also one of them they may have inspired others to try the same. I am a big fan of these type of German aircraft, i have quite a few in the stash. But this is the oddest.

This is an American design that was tested, and may well have been inspired by the Triebflugel, but i don't know that for certain.

I don't know if the Pogo was inspired by the triebflugel design, although they somewhat look alike.
I do love the Pogo, I got the Lindberg kit in my stash, I really wanted to have one of those!
It looks so amazing as a design, Here's a pic of it in flight!

I wasn't certain, i might just check it out. It must have been a real pain in the butt to park that thing, but i think the pilot has a slightly better view to the rear than the Triebflugel pilot would have.

Been a bit quiet on here, so time for a bit of a bump. I haven't been working on the kit this week, but have been practicing my soldering on the access tower. Its not exactly straight, and my soldering needs more practice before i move onto some detailed PE. but i think it will do the job.

Just got to dig out some small wheels from the spares box and add the platform on top, then i can get some paint it. 

If you take more practice on soldering theres no PE parts that can looks better

Thanks guys. I know what you mean about the bottom rod, the top one is a bit wonky as well. But i have decided to leave it rather than try and improve it and make things worse. The ladder is attached to it as well.

I have dragged this out long enough and i am glad i can get some paint on it.

O i came close. Especially on Fri when for some unknown reason, i grabbed the hot part of the iron with my thumb and forefinger. Its lucky no one else was home, even my other half would have been shocked at the language. Ye, i think it will set it off nicely. I am glad i came across the image as its much better than what i originally planned.

Yeah, I am sorry about not posting wip pics. This was my first GB and she was in process when I entered the GB. It didn't occur to me to post wip pics, but I am going so in other group builds I am part of.

I was hopeing to have the completed dio done by tonight before i go away on a course for a week. But afraid it wasn't to be as i still have the figures to paint and the base to finish off.

But i am calling the aircraft done, so i will share that and the completed tower for now.

At the end, i added small wire handles on the canopy and one on either side of the windscreen for the pilot to pull himself out of the seat.

To the tower i added a platform useing sheet styrene. The wheels came out of the spares box and were originally a part of a piece of hasegawa modern US ground equipment.

I should have the dio done within a day or so of coming home so will share those when complete.

The dio is a simple one. The pilot running to his aircraft and some ground crew standing by. I only have 3 figures so far, but am hopeing to add a few more.

Im converting the old1/72  hasegawa kit of the MiG-25 into a folded wing, recon thingie. Honestly, Im just winging it. Its practice for kit-bashing/conversions.

I elongated the nose, widened the fuselage and gave it a new fuselage spine. It will later have more doo-dads added to it.

Here is is all puttied up. This thing would be a putty monster even without my conversion. I had to apply another layer of putty to smooth it all out.

The engines were super bland, so I tried my hand at scratch-building new ones. Here is what the originals look like. My new ones look much better, but I dont have photos yet!

Ok my entry for the Wingdings GB, I'm doing the Academy F-22A Raptor. Nice kit, I'm also adding the LP cockpit set in resin. This plane is huge, I mean huge. This fuselage is almost the size of an F-16 in 1/32!!

I'm lining up with the question of Scorpiomonkey, What kind of putty are you using?

Casper, Nice to finally see you enter the group build, good thing you have that cockpit set,
I'm never happy with those cockpits that Academy provides.
Other than that, I really love those kits considering the price they ask.
But if I need to buy a cockpit set every time, that advantage is easily reduced again.

I have that kit in my stash, as well as a F-16 in 1/32 and indeed,
that Raptor is huge, they are about the same size!
Anyway, I will be looking at what you will make of this kit and see what I will be able to pick up on it.
