Allan: Thanks for posting those pics. It looks like that method works fairly well. The only thing I would be worried about would be the fear of getting too much paint in one place. It looks great from the pics you have though.

Tom: Nice job on the E-4, base and figures! (Man that DVD set comes in handy don't it?-BTW Thanks a mil!! ) That is definitely a show stopper right there. It's been great having you in here and hope you'll stick around for another...Say don't you have a Hasegawa G-10 in the works? Let me know which pic you would like to see on the front page and I'll get 'er there.

Panzer, Nice E-4!  The CyberHobby kit is on of the nicest 109's I've built

Tom, she's a real beaut. The base and figures are both well-done as well.

Now thats not good, 5 days without a post. So i guess i better get my butt back into gear. I got the whel bays painted with RLM 02 and Humbrol leather around the sides which was then dry brushed.

The inside of the radiator flaps also got a coat of 02.

After this i was able to get the wings and tail on and its now starting to look like a plane.

I have also been working on the canopy. When i bought this RB set, i thought it was just a PE frame to go into the kit canopy. But its not, its a complete canopy with PE for the frame and thin acotate sheet for the glass.I spraye dthe frame RLM 66 while on the fret, possably a bad idea as this might flake once i bent the PE.

And guess what, yep, it did. O well, nothing lost as i sprayed this at the same time as the pit. I have got the front and rear pieces fitted, they were a bit awkward but do look nice.

I also got the fuel pipe fitted after useing Joe's great suggestion for the clear section and i think its looks rather nice.

And thats all for now. Next up will be to add the few last pieces, clean up some seams and get this to the paint booth.

That canopy frame is really something. Looks like a real hair-puller, yet you seem to have pulled it off very well.

Dude that is one helluva update there Bish! I can't get over that canopy frame! Now that I'd love to see you pull off in 72nd scale!

Thanks Joe. Unofrtunatly they only do them in 32nd scale, other wise i would be tempted to try one. I kow they will get esier to work with with more practice. I think i might get one for my 32nd G for future use.

Great looking canopy there, Bish. I had no idea such a thing existed. Quite an original idea. What's your plan on tackling the acetate? Are the panels pre cut? Will you use Krystal Klear, or the like? The rest of the bird is coming along nicely. I bet 1/32 is quite a change over the 1/72! I hope you're liking it.

Dang, Doug. I didn't realize you'd done so many 109s. They all look excellent! I especially like Gunther Rall's G-2. Congrats!

Craig C. Nice to see you dive right on in there with the CH 109E-4. It is a great kit and the detail and overall fit is excellent. The cockpit and cowling area will need a bit of work, if you plan on building it with the cowling closed. (It seems that kit is designed to be open cowling) Good luck.

'Stang. I'd like the first pic for the one on the completion page. Thanks for asking. I have several more 109s I'd like to get done, so I'll be around. At least for one more. I do need to get that G-10 done!

Thnaks Tom. I stumbeled across them after looking at the RB when i heard good things about it. They only do a small number of these, all for later model 109's and as far as i know they are the only people to do them. The Acetate come on 2 small sheets each with paper over it that has the outline marked on as a guide to cut them. I'll post some pics next time. Ye, i am thinking of useing klear to fit them, and its one hell of a change. I am having to pay more attention to detail here as often in 72nd it can be over loked as its to small to see.

I started working back on mine after being busy with things around the house and helping my son move back to Florida.

Good God Bish, that frame looks like a freaking hair puller! Like you said in the previous post, you have none to pull and neither do I but still quite a challenge as I see it.

It is a bit, but challengers can be fun.

Some times

I am going to try out an Aires cockpit on this build. Generally I use MDC so this will be a little different. It does require some modification to the fuselage cockpit opening. Detail seems good so we'll see how it goes together.

Jay: I've always liked the detail that Aires puts into their upgrades. It does seem to always come at the cost of added time into the build to modify the kit to accept those items though. Lookin' great so far!

Thanks Joe, I have decided to build this one as a G-10. Going with this scheme I found in the excellent JaPo book on the G-10. As it turns out I already have decals for this plane. White 11 from JG52.

That Aires pit looks sweet. I like the details they pack into their AM sets. It's looking very sharp.

I finally got some free time and did some work on my G-6. Got the tail feathers aligned and glued in place.

Spent the entire evening masking the inside and outside of the canopy. This is where the Eduard masks come in very handy. I will be using them on my other 4 109's.

I shot RLM 66 inside and RLM 75 outside and carefully removed the masking tape masks

I set this off to the side to cure along with the armored head rest.

Thanks gents for the comments. Two days and no activity so I will post my progress.

I'm not trying to correct everything with the kit but just a few things here and there like the radiator actuators. I just stretched out some sprue and glued them in place. Took me a good hour to secure all three of them.

Took care of some sink holes on the prop faces

Will be doing Karl Rammelt's Gustav and using the kit supplied decals. It had white wingtips (underside), yellow RLM04 for the cowl underside, and solid RLM70 spinner. There is also a fuselage band in RLM74 and a white rudder.

So I shot the underwing tips and rudder white . The cowl also got some white and then sparayed the RLM04 over it. The white underpaint makes the yellow color look better and uniform.

I will be spraying the RLM76 next followed by the top colors.  

Thanks Bish. I always shoot white first when using yellow or red. It just makes things easier and the colors more even.

The masking material is some type of very soft packing foam that I saved from the trash. It conforms purty good around odd shapes.
