If you decide to get a new one, try Delloutlet online. I seem to buy these things pretty regularily as I have anywhere from 5-10 people banging on them all day. I recently bought one from the outlet, which sells unused returns, returns, and scratch/dents in descending order of cost. Got a unused scratch/dent for $ 400 that would be $ 1200 new at their normal online store.

Those badges just look great with the Cat with the landing light on.

This just hit me, somebody should make a Halloween PBY with the whole wing painted like a Hershey's bar or something. It would be very festive.Tongue [:P]

Hello PBY Builders,

I an effort to help in the world of information sharing I have created a image gallery site full of PBY photos and drawings that have been graciously provided to me by a research friend of mine at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.

The link to the site is here and I hope everyone finds it of value, please let me know if something doesn't work right thanks in advance.

Oh and gentlemen no drooling as it holds over 1,100 images.

Happy veiwing all. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Cheers,

Thom

Sad time in Spokane when this happened. I remember watching this plane put fires out on a hill not to far from where I grew up, flying over head multiple times while picking up water and droping it then doing it over again. Every once in a while you can drive up to Deer Park and see it parked up there.

nam: a quick question if I may. Did you remove all of the ugly ejector pin marks inside the fuselage halves? I mean in the two areas covered by "glass". My kit has quite a few nasty (both concave and convex) pin marks in those areas. I don't think they'll be seen from the outside on the finished model, and I removed and fixed one that would have prevented one of the bulkheads from fitting properly. Should I fix them all, or can I be lazy? Whistling [:-^]

Thanks, Rich Cool [8D]

Rich,

I'd mock up as much as I could in those areas, then close up the fuselage and see what pin marks are visible, then fill those.  I wouldn't worry about the others.  Just my opinion, I could be wrong.  You're not being lazy, just very efficient.

Sorry Folks.........I've been unable to log-in since Saturday.....I know others have been having trouble likewise, but my PC is sick and going into the shop on Wednesday. I was able to lurk and did so.

Thanks for taking up the slack FrankieThumbs Up [tup]

My opinion about the EP marks (horrendously large!) is that they won't show thru the limited viewing space. As far as toning them down.....they can be filled easier than wiping them out. Either way it's a LOT of work.....and they really won't be seen without a Mag-Lite and strong eyes if all the planets are aligned correctly.

The Front Page is about to be updated.....spelling errors mostly.

Thanks for the help with the ugly EP's. I think that's sound advice - only fix them if you have to Big Smile [:D].

Lt. Nam is back!

PC is all cleaned out, new CD ROM, quadrupled memory to over 1 Gig (free of charge!), new virus software. The thing was totally booted up in a few seconds....that's something I've never seen on this machine!

I've been working on all my WIPs....the Yellow Wing PBY for the PH GB is ready for the fuse halves to join! Nothing exceptional to note.....just be careful with the fiddly bits! Many of them in this kit! Spent a few hours searching the last few days.
