Thank you all for the kind words! Smile [:)]

I'll try to get the F-117 done asap. X-mas is closing in fast and seems to take a lot of my precious building time! Smile [:)] I'll still try to finish off some more models before new years eve!

Cheers,

Azgaron

im looking forward to seeing your little man....err, did that sound wrong? Or was it just me?

Ill show you my little man, but itl cost you $4.95  a minute.

As far as my work station... you were probably seeing the kit, and two others kits being worked on at the same time.

I can safley say this wont be finished by the morning, but it will be darned close.  The bain fo mecha kits is the unseemly amount of seams. there are ALOT and there always a pain to fix. They always go over percise details

***FINAL NOTICE***

Ok guys, it's two weeks after the official weekend and one week after the alternate weekend so I'm giving notice that the official end of this GB will be this Monday morning.  By all means keep posting your pics if you still don't finish but I will not be updating the front page after Monday morning.  I will post a pic of your latest progress at that time.  I think we're getting away from the original concept of this GB and it's time for some motivation/pressure! Evil [}:)]

I have half the decals on, could we PLEASE make it later in the day?

Here's where I am.  It took me close to 2 hours to get these on.  These Academy decals take a lot of Micro Sol to get in the cracks.  The white band alone was a good half hour.  It has to be trimed on the top.

The clear coat on the wings looks rough but it feels smooth.  Any idea what causes that?

You bet Roy.  Nice progress and I know EXACTLY what your dealing with with those decals.  The rough texture (sometimes called orange peal effect) was that future you were using?  It can sometimes be caused by not spraying it on heavy enough to allow it to self level or from spraying from too far away meaning it will dry out a little in the air before hitting the model.  In any case you won't notice it at all once you spray a dull coat on.

Well, the last pics I've got can be found at http://public.fotki.com/lewbud/weekend-gb/ .  The two job thing really sapped my energy for the last couple of weeks.  Was looking forward to actually getting back to the table this morning.  Won't be done in time but will finish and post pics when I'm done.

Roy, the P40 is looking sweet fella. As for the 'Orange peel effect' this can be caused by several different ways but as has been said should hide up under a coat of Flat. If its future you spray. Do it neat at around 20 psi. Then spray from about 6 inches away in several coats. Make sure the last coat goes on 'Wet'. You can always cover the orange peel, now by overcoating the decals with some more future.

Smeagol, $4.95, geez your expensive. Aaron will show me his for My 2 cents [2c]. LOL. Good luck with the Little man figure. Im looking forward to seeing it done, whenever.

Lewbud, You were deffo a glutton for punishment with this build. I struggled with one kit. I dont know how you did it. As with Smeagol, im still looking forward to seeing them done.

Smeagol, your build is starting to take shape.  I'm still not sure what I'm looking atConfused [%-)]

Dave & Guy, thanks for the feed back.  I used MM Gloss Clear Acrylic.  On the decals, if I use enough, 2-4 coats of Micro SOL the decals will snugle down into the panel lines.  I'm off today so I should have them finished before lunch.

Dave, thanks for the artic air.  -10 F/wind chill -30F with a high today of 15F and snow tonightBig Smile [:D]

I posted this in the decal forum.  Any ideas how to get the decal to snugle down?  It's like a shhet of plastic.  I'm using Micro Sol.  I also have some Mr. Mark Softner that I have yet to use.  Any ideas?

I think Bill mentioned a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water.  I would try something a little thinner and work my way up.  The other option is to cut a slit in the wrinkles with a new #11 blade which is what I usually end up doing with Academy decals.  Good luck.

Looking awesome BTW! Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Roy - That is a pretty good size decal,,, I have not used this method on something that big -But I have brushed painted on future where I wanted to place the decal, place the decal and use a clean brush to smooth out the wrinkles and bubbles. Once everything was to my satisfaction I would coat the edges just to make sure..

I like how she looks... Thumbs Up [tup]

This decal is Soooooo thick.  I'm not sure that would even work.  Let me try what Dave said.  If that doesn't work it wouldn't hurt to try some future.  In the future I will do what most people say to do, replace the old Academy decals with AM decals.  Some. any idea when your passing by this way?

Roy, I do have that decal from another sheet so if you can't get this one to behave it is yours.  Let me know if you want it.

Sean, I don't know about the hog but other body parts would surely be frozen if I tried to ride in these temps.  I used to ride in the -20C weather all the time when I was a younger man, growing soft in my old age.  Funny that your wife is a Teacher, so is mine, elementary music, she's going nuts with the Christmas concerts coming up this week.  Course, Roy is a teacher too but we won't hold that against him now will we. Wink [;)]

Alex, nice booth. Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]  Now let's see that V1!!!

Why do I have the urge to grill out??Whistling [:-^]  No not really its like -1 F here in the windy state of Wisconsin. But nice work on the both.  I have been thinking about building one myself.

How totally weird.  My wife is a teacher as well.  She teaches CDS (special ed.) in a elementary level.

Builds are looking great even the gundam.

Roy, that decal looks a nightmare. Have you tried Battery acid? Alternatively try the Mr Softer. That stuff is harsher than Microsol and i swear by the stuff. If the Softer fails the 50/50 Vinegar to water has to be worth a go.

Alex, thats a cracking Barbeque you made there. Wheres the sausages? Chef [C=:-)] Joking aside, that looks like a proper job there. Far more professional than my spray booth. Mines the spare room with the window open. LOL.

Open windows takes the fun out of painting.  Me, my wife wonders why she can smell paint.  My bench is right next to the furnace intake.  I share the love with the house.
