Guy your so very rightThumbs Up [tup]  This GB has been a blast.  Even though I have yet to finish my P-40Ashamed [*^_^*]  (family matters)  I'm looking forward to doing this again.  Like I said before, this time I will do the old Mauve Limited Run V2 Rocket.  I SHOULD be able to do that in a weekend

So where do I sign up for the next one.

Guy & Roy - I agree, the Weekend Madness was a Blast. I also am looking forward to the next one..

I think someone should have a "Finish the Un~Finished Build".  I was lurking around and found 12 aircraft kits in various stages of being built. Most of all of these were shelved due to not having a certain paint color...  I have no excuses now not to finish them, my booth now exhausts outside without the window, I have a new bench with ample work area, paints have been restocked - Well I have decided I want to get as many of the Dirty Dozen finished before the New Year rolls around..

Hello lads,

well, I've gone as far as I can go with this one, I put 40 hrs into it and it ain't no masterpiece-but it was FUN! Which was what this GB was all about.

This is the Airfix 1/72 F-4J that I tried to build as a ten yr old, it never got finished 26 years ago, so it was a relief to get it done this time around. The kit is pretty awful, and the decals are next to useless, however I got out a fine paintbrush and did my best to mask where the decals tore up.Blush [:I]

The base is a simple one, given the time-but I kind of like it! This is what I would have wanted in my room all those years ago, my very first kit on display for all to see.  Smile [:)]

So as my ten year old self would have said:

"Hey! Come and look at this! I made it!" Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Darren, that is awesome. An over used superlative, i know, but that is simply fantastic. And you did it in 48 hrs. Bow [bow] The base is great. The impression of speed is perfect. I love it.

Darren -  Wow that combo just Screams out "Fast" ! I really like the blurr of the base ~very real. I remember seeing an article on how to make one similar several rears ago. After seeing yours I shall have to give it a try. I like Airfix kits, a person can never have too many - and you did a Fantastic job on yours with extras in such a short time . Bravo Thumbs Up [tup]

Frank,

I will be very happy to tell you how I did the base........its so easy!

1. Paint surface of display jet black.

2. Paint white runway markings.

3. Leave to dry for 12 hrs......

4. Take to strips pf masking tape (the length of the base) now mask a thin line with the two strips, spray a random line of EDS grey (any very dark grey will do.) make sure each line of grey has random gaps in it. Repeat this process from the top to the bottom of the base as many times as neccessary........

5. Spray a very fine mist of grey over the whole thing to blend it all together.

6. You're done!Wink [;)]

Darren, I agree with the other post, first rate all around.  The base lends so much to the build.

Sorry I didn't get the finished picture up.  A nap before my 16hr shift had a greater calling.  I did finish it though.  Just no weathering, which is OK.  Here it is and I think I finished it around noon yesterday.  That gave me 4 hours to spare.  This GB was fun and shows what can be done under such a short timeline.

Here it is with the dull coat, and markings.

Dang I just noticed that I forgot to put the sagger ATGM on.  MMMM might do that now.

WOW darren your base really sets off your phantom.

Once again some very sweat builds here.

thanks

That's a great ideaBig Smile [:D]  I myself have at least 8 that don't belong to any Group Build.  the rules are simply.  The standard fun and all that but the builds can not belong to an ongoing GB must already have been started, something along those lines.  Oh yea, procrastinators welcomed.  Have a start date but leave the closing date open.

So, who's going to lead this, you, me?  Would there be any interest?

I'd be all over that!  I have a bunch of shelf queens in various stages of completion that I have been thinking about resurrecting and that would get me off my butt!  Tongue [:P]

Darren, the F-4J looks awesome considering you started with an airfix kit and completed it in 48 hours.  I love the base too.  You never fail to inspire.  Thanks for taking part in the GB.

Kim, the target thingy turned out great too.  I love the camo colours on that thing.  I still can't believe you put those track things together in one weekend.  Well done! Propeller [8-]

Sorry I haven't been around this weekend I have been not feeling well and I was on the road for sork today so no chance to stop by.  There's still a few of you trying to finish up and I hope you'll keep at it and ost your pics.  I might have to create a naughty section on the front page for the delinquents though Wink [;)]

Well done everyone and I hope we do this again soon too.  As for the finish it up GB I'd be in too.  I think it's your turn to host one Roy! Wink [;)]

Oooo... is that a Bv 141 on your bench?!?!?!  Of course it is.  I've been wanting to build one of those for a long time and I hear Airfix is going to re-issue it sometime soon. Propeller [8-]Propeller [8-]Propeller [8-]
