SC ? Be careful! Remember what happened to me when I tried to install a spinner decal like Frank! I'm leaving that for the pro's!  Ouchie! My bottom hurts just thinking about it!

ACK!!!  Aaron- Don't be trying that spinner spiral trick without something to protect your tender tushy.  Have Wingus put some padding in there, will ya? LOL...

dupes- Sign - Welcome [#welcome] aboard!  I added you to the roster on page one. Thumbs Up [tup]

SC- LOL, I usually start at the tip of the spinner.  I mount the spinner on a toothpick to hold it while I use a cotton bud to hold fown the end.  Then, using a free couple of fingers, rotated the toothpick with the spinner on top and let the decal slide off of the backing paper onto the spinner.  Then, I gently prodded it into position, and used lota of micro set and sol to get it to lay right.  A little Mr. Mark Softer in the areas that didn't want to lay right and presto!

Be warned, if Mac tries giving you spinner spiral advice, run and hide! Shock [:O]

Gumi- Here I am at work, optivisor and all! Big Smile [:D]

? I have 3 teenagers and a 20 year old. I am that young! Trust me. Tomorrow me and the wife both turn 21 so we are finally old enough to get at some of that rum!  Married 23 Jan 1988. Now that is old! She is actually 2 months older than I but as you know doesn't look it. I think her secret to staying young is me!  HA! bet that! Make a Toast [#toast] Happy B-Day [bday] again to you and the Missus!  I hope you got her a model! Mischief [:-,]

I did some work on the "new" 1/48 G-10 last night and today, adding a few missing details without going overboard on the details.  On the right sidewall, I added the Oxygen hose, fuel line, and some wires for the fuse box.  On the left, some cables for the throttle.  Also made some seatbelts out of Tamiya tape and fuse wire, and a restraining strap for the cannon breech cover.  I left off the straps from the rudder pedals, and a few other items I sometimes add as I wanted to get through the cockpit rather quickly so the build does not stall out.  There are two of each in the photo as the other is my "Regia Aeronautica" GB entry, a Bf-109G-4 in 1/48.  The 1/32 was giving me fits (like those Censored [censored] Corsairs!) so it got boxed away for a bit too.  I can hear all of them conspiring from the closet to get me in the end.

Hope to catch up to you fellas soon!  I sprayed the RLM66 this afternoon, and did a few other odd chores. Thumbs Up [tup]

Well John I'll be playing the Eagles song of the same name for you!

Frank I replied to your 109 question over at the RA!  It was regarding the cowling on the G-4. Were any produced with the more squared G-6 type Gun Trowels? I would say it was very likely!  The Italians flew more G-6's than G-4's from what I can dig up! The cowlings seemed to get replaced and changed up on the 109 pretty routinely as evident from all the mismatched hoods I see. Sadly I cannot even find a pic of a G-4 in Italian service. I think your safe but take a look at the F-4 hood pic I posted and see. I know how that desire to be as close as possible grabs us!

Got a wash done in the cockpit today. Next up some drybrushing and it will be time for pics and getting the fuselage built. At that point I see the pace of build picking up...Whistling [:-^]

Panel washed the 109 tonight and layed down a clear coat for the whole thing. It looks like crap due to not having a good working AB but I am finishing the darn thing. Just chalking the whole thiing up to a crappy month. As soon as Franks spinner decal arrives I am going to lay it down and then hid hide it in the back of the display case. Oh well at least the Re 2000 looks ok.

Aaron is turning into a 109-aphile.

SC not every one we build is going to the front of the case but I'll bet there are quite a few people out there that would take it in a heartbeat.

Carlos- Looking forward to seeing your cockpit photos!  I was going to put a wash on mine last night but found a few thin spots in the basecoat so had to touch up instead.  Hopefully soon!

SC- I have feeling that you will really like your 109 once you see all of the bits attached.  Don't hide that little gem, display it proudly my friend! Approve [^]

OK, here are a couple shots. I did not get a chance to do any painting this morning so will take some more once I have the drybrushing done.

As you can see, the HC kit lacks the inticate detail and some of the accuracy of the Hasegawa kits others are doing here. But I think I only paid $5 for this kit. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I sprayed the spinner cone of my K-4 yesterday... Does that count as progress? Whistling [:-^]

Mike if you had told me you managed to add the spiral decal  to your spinner that would have counted as progress. Darn things can be more troublesome that an unruley child.

Well it is with a sad hand and a heavy heart that I continue on the 1/48 Acadamy G-14 so I may see it through to its completion. It is hard when you know it was not your best effort but I want to start my Knights of the Sky GB and I have to finish something first. I figures I would hide all of the imperfections by adding some heavy weathering. Oil stains for the underside faded paint on the upper surfaces. I added alot of the fiddley bits tonight like the DF loop balance weights tires ans gear covers and of course the main antenna. Going to paint the armor plate in the canopy tomorrow and finish it up.   I hope. The only thing I thing that will make it worth looking at is the weird marking like overpainted previous markings and black tailband. I'll post pics tomorrow if all goes well. I might have to do another to vindicate myself but I am undecided as of yet.

Hey there guys, thought I'd better pop in and say hi after a little while off-line.

I was doing a little "maintenance" on a component from my Xbox 360 to allow an optical audio cable to be used at the same time as an HDMI without having to fork out for Micro$oft's $70 adapter. Anyway I'm forcing apart these two pieces of plastic using a screwdriver and all my might when the plastic slipped and the screw driver went on a nice little ploughing exercise up my thumb. Well six stitches, some time and a lot of pain later it's finally starting to heal so that I now have some use of my left hand again. Needless to say modeling has been out of the question and typing has been a slow one handed affair.

You know the stupid thing is if I did this with a hobby knife it would have been a nice clean painless wound, rather than the trough the screwdriver gouged out of my thumb, man it hurt.

Right before my injury I had just finished assembly of the fuselage on my 109 and I have to say, hats off to Monogram for the fit on this kit it really is very good.

The only area that will require a little filler is the area where the lower wing joins the fuselage, but it's really nothing much.

Lastly the prop and spinner are done and the only mod I've made to this kit is drilling out the cannon hole in the spinner. Both are painted in a 50/50 mix of Tamiya Black Green & Nato Black.

Now I'll have to read up on the last 10 pages of updates, phew.

Cheers

Ouch Darren. That must have really hurt. Hope it heals very soon. The 109 looks good and the gaps are the same as mine had. Besides that its a good fit overall.

Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D] Thanks for all the sympathy Guy and it was just a little electrical job and the wound it made was gouge, skip a bit, gouge, skip a bit ... all the way down my thumb. I can tell you the air turned blue as I ran to the kitchen dripping lots of blood all over the carpet. SWMBO was sympathetic until she saw the blood stains, well you can guess what happened after that.

Btw does this entitle me to an Iron Cross or something now Wink [;)]

Cheers

Darren- OUCH!  That must have really hurt.  Looks like it's time to take away all of the sharp objects while you still have both hands (relatively) intact.  Excellent work on your 109!  Hope your hand heals quickly so you can get back to the bench. Thumbs Up [tup]

Sorry to hear about the injury there Darren. Looks like it hurt like a SOB! Sorry to say medals are only awarded if the injury is sustained while working on a model. Any injuries sustained modifying household electronics are not covered. At least you will have a nice scar to show for it. Now like Guy said back to the modeling bench!Big Smile [:D]

Ouch ! Darren! That was over an X-box 360?  Yowzers I better but a warning sticker on my boys!  Hope you heal quick and the pain has subsided! Love the bandage though! Get the Missus to play nurse maid until you get to the bench again!

What's important is you got progress pics!  Cool beans! Looking good!  Keep that glue in your good hand! Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks to my good pal Frank I am now restocked with a white spinner decal agian. I can only hope my second attemp will be more suscessfull. If I may borrow from Guy's vocabulary a million Ninja point for you!Make a Toast [#toast]

To get them to reall snug down mount it superglue the prop. to your dremel bit.  To get a good even application you may need to plug a 110 volt dremel into a 220 volt system for full effect! Wink [;)]
