A secret? OOOOOO  you'd think so as slow as I am building this one!  Gonna call it my Chuk style build!  Going all out on it!  No holds barred!  I Went ahead and ordered the Edward Super set and all of the resin additions to it as well.  I figure this is such a popular bomber with such oddities as a double engine and landing gear config I owe it to you all to show it off and see what we can see in this He-177 Grief.  Doing a compartment at a time.  Back to step zero with the resin guns and Pe and such. Crazy.  Yes Guy It will have the wheels and Engine and bombay compartment all in resin plus any additional PE in the super set that will add to the overall detail and build.  Heck In Honor of Bondo's amazing efforts I may even do a Dio for it!  at least a proper base to show it off!

Yey, Shooters back with a Reggy. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. Good news on the commisions. What are the builds?

Aaron, thats what i like to hear. Resin and PE lovelies. Your definately the man to do them proud. Chucks got nothing on you, big boy. Whens the stuff arriving. Im slavering, dont know about you LOL.

Crusher, thanks for the offer. You never know, the need may arise.

Well, i went and sat and looked at the bench for an hour or two tonight. Not the best time to try to do any modelling when your heads full of annoyances. I did do a mock up of the 290 and glued a few bits together on it. Also started a couple of the little bits of PE from the RCR set. But all in all, i got burger all done. oh and i ruined the paint on the 262 that was going to have a repaint. Anyhoo, heres what my whopper looks like. The plane you filthy minded mongrels LOL,

Italian battleship en route to surrender at Malta?  All these grand builds! It's hard to keep up?  I like how Guy posed his alongside his Mc200 Bubbletop!  The parts should be here with in a week Guy!  They were in stock and show as being shipped!  HAven't got a tracker on it yet!

Did Guy pose his planes on his night gown?  Kinda looks like a gown from A Christmas Carol?  You Ol scrooge you!

Yup Sarge thats the one. It comes with two "Fritz" guided misses mounted under the wing. So what do you think? Do I need to build it for this one?

Guy -  I did this mock up just for you.

Photobucket I am really having a hard time finding a place big clean enough to take pictures.  I am now in the process of building the engines, still need to fabricate up a wing spar also.

Aaron - Thats the old Monogram Me 109

Guy,
The commissions are a Has 1/72 E2C Hawkeye and a 1/144 An-124. Gonna have to get a bigger paint gun for the 124 I think.

The CR32 is nearly done but I could not finish the flat coat until the oil washes dry. maybe tomorrow I'll get it knocked out.

See what you made me do now?

Hasegawa's 1/72 Rita

...and don't be trying to tell me this is all my fault... OH NO!!!  This all started when our Glorious Leader went and splurged at his little toy show didn't it.

I like the OTHER beastie in the background!!!!! The 1/72 Flower Class Corvette!!! Would love to get one of those!!! Dave I think that it would be similar to the light grayish green interior color common to the Zeke if I'm not mistaken. Nice smaller beastie btw!!Thumbs Up [tup]

SC, the span comes in just shy of 19 inches.  It's comparable in size to a B-17.  Not as impressive as what some of the other lads are building but it's the best I can do right now.

Would love to see that Gigant built up.  Been waiting for Sean to finish his but apparently he ran out of paint or some other lame excuse like that. Wink [;)]

Ya, them Frenchies got away with a big one there didn't they!  Disapprove [V]Disapprove [V]Disapprove [V]

Ritchie, thanks for the tip on the colour.  Went on line tonight and found some colour swatches so I'll give it a shot.

Hey Guy... do you play IL2 on any particular server or just single player?  I usually pick a server at random and fly about getting shot up to all heck. Never get to see much action unless it's me trying to remember how to bail out! Big Smile [:D]

Alright since our fearless leader has requested me to build the Promodeller 1/48 Do 217-E I guess I must. Man I hope I have the Eduard mask set in the box with the kit. I do'nt think I could mask all of that glass! Right then off I go to finish the 262 so I can get a good start on the Do-217. I think I am going to see if I can find any reviews on this kit to help me along.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice on the Ju 88 exhaust. Thumbs Up [tup]  Unfortunately, I have nothing to use at the moment so it is on hold until I have time to get to the hobby shop.

Bondo - The Junkers's'es'i (plural) are looking great! They will be beautiful additions to an already fine collection, I'm sure.

 Luftwoller wrote:
Great looking bird hanging fromt heh ceiling. What and who's is it?

Guy - That is my Revell 1/48 Fokker DVII. I built it maybe 5 or so years ago and hung it to keep a few other old builds entertained...

As you can see, a few years worth of dust is better camo than I could ever spray on there. Big Smile [:D]

Aaron - I can't believe you're gonna throw more resin and PE at that beast! Shock [:O] You're mad I say... mad! Mischief [:-,]  And here's some boxart for ya... pretty cool!

Laugh [(-D]  Sorry, but that statement is just too funny! Laugh [(-D]   Your Rita is going to be a winner Dave. Gorgeous looking plane. I bet you don't look forward to that canopy though.

SC - Do217 it is! Thumbs Up [tup] That will be a good one! I picked up the re-release when it came out this summer. Don't think it has the "Fritz X" bombs though.

Sean - That Condor mocks up into a big one... I really like the looks of her. Wasn't the Condor originally designed as a passenger plane? I've only seen military versions... might look pretty nice dressed as a civilian.  BTW, thanks for the compliment on my Ryan floater. She's my absolute favorite and I wouldn't trade her for anything! Approve [^]

Ok, here are a few shots of the finally completed CR32. Classic Airframes kit and a real PITA.

Model is brush painted and in a bit of a hurry. I think the camo would have looked better with a soft edge but I did it with a brush also, to get the process moving along.

Various pieces are scratch, like the cabane struts and supports for the horizontal stabs.

Rigging wires are invisible thread.

Paint is MM enamels with some Tamiya tossed in for camo. Alclad finished the prop and spinner.

Nothing on the kit fit correctly. Nothing at all. The cockpit didn't even fit between the fuse halves once it was complete so it got a few "mods" to insure the fuse halves met as they should.

So there it is. My commitment to this GB completed. I was really amp'd to get this plane going when I first got it. Once the work began I could not wait until it was done and over with. My lack of love for the CA version of the plane is partly why it took me something like eight months to complete it. In the future I'll really have to have a love for the subject to endure another limited run kit.

Well it is a beauty. Sorry it was such a pain, but it's one of my faves so far on this GB. Go get yourself a nice Italeri SM 79 and relax! If you wanted to soften the camo, you could overspray it a tad, but I wouldn't. I think it looks just great.

I love the camo... and I think the hard edges really make it. Thumbs Up [tup]  Well done! Maybe a pain in the rear for you but definitely something to be proud of.

I agree HK that  good ol fashioned paint job is da bomb! Looks terrific to me!  I also think it adds to it more than a softer edged camo would have.  A brear of a kit but you should be proud to say you whipped it!  Only 8 months? Man if your name was Frank that would be a speed build! Shock [:O]Laugh [(-D] Sorry Frank it is the 1st of the month which is the unofficial pick on the XO day!

Ok Jeremy! I have the ultimate solution for your exhaust issue! It's very Italian and unique!

Don't laugh and hear me out as this works!  Go get you some spagetti or angel hair pasta.  ( Bet that is handy cuz I even have that!)  Boil up a bit al dente. Run cold water on it and cut some even small pieces.  Lay them across an ink pen pencil marker extc or even the enging nacielle if you want a custom shape.  Hey it washes off.  and let them dry out.  Usually only takes a day or 2 down these parts.

Then when dry simply carve out the appropriate final shape and even drill out the ends.  Coat the entire part with some clear coat varnish or thin CA to seal it and harden it.  When painted it really looks like a resin exhaust especially if you need multiple different sized ones.

I used this technique when I found some old dried up spagetti in a teenagers room! Yuck [yuck]

I was able to enhance the old Revell zero's engine using the Tamita kit as a guide.  It really looked sharp.   So there is a possible italian solution!

As with all my suggestions it is followed with the appropriate warning about not trying this at home.  I have years of professional experience messing things up! LOL!  But it can work and cost very little to try!

Wow hkshooter I think the Cr32 came out great. I know how difficult the Classic Airframes kits are to build. I have build 3 of them this year so far. They take extra time and work but they are usally the one choice for most of thier kits in 1/48 scale. Do'nt say to much about it because I sent Guy one awhile back and if he hears how hard it was he might not build it.Big Smile [:D]
