Thanks Sir Bondo and SC! I was feeling lonely you know? Had One heck of a week myself I am afraid. Let us say the worst has passed for all of us and the sun is breaking though.
Hacking things up brutally at the moment. I had a lot of practice learning from the Fonderie Minatures kits so they are good for something. I can move quickly because I have tackled similar battles but I will try to share the methods to my madness. If you like em use them if not ignore me.
Using the stone grinding sharping tool made for mower blades and garden tools. I took my dremel and ground down all the casting blocks until the walls were paper thin. So thin the paint on the other side actually shows through with light behind it. This was necessary as the instructions simply say cut off the doors from the MPM part and drop fit the bombay in. It is never that easy.
The resin blocks I left on the pit were also in the way so I had to thin it with it glued in place. Very challenging.
Got a pretty good system down for venting the resin dust now. So I don't breath and cover myself with the stuff. Still wore a dust mask though. Really have too! Goes all over.
To cut off the rather thickly molded Bomb doors I carefully and patiently scribed along the panel lines slowly scoring the plastic. Then using some good sharp cutters made some angled cuts. This contols the cut and breakage relieving the pressure on the side you want to be flat and smooth. Then I simply bent the doors inward and snapped them off. A quick touch up with a sanding stick and I have opened the spot for the bombay.
Now comes the test fit. I taped the fuse together loosely to make sure I can drop fit this thing inside. It fits well enough I can get it right with a minimal clean up.
What's important is it does not interfere with the joining of the fuse halfs!
Looking real purdy. Things like adding the bomb doors and lttle brittle guns and such will have to wait until almost the end. I just see me breaking them repeatedly otherwise as I am somewhat heavy handed.
Lots of resin doors to add 3 on each side and 6 in the middle. Whats that like 12?
Pretty well to the point where I have to add the gun chamber under the pit and in the tail then I can join up the fuse and start on the wing work!
SC! I also got the Eduard PE superset for this kit. Lots of great stuff there as well. Some duplicates but reallyimpressive exterior things like antenna and pe fans for the front of the engine Nacills that will really make them sing!
