Sean outstanding progress? I thought you just started and it looks almost ready to start painting? Well looks like the elfs are visiting. Probably got them dressed up as snow bunny's though?

 Hey for the experimentation and tip implimentation  parts of said GB.  The Power Steering fluid was a bust!  Doesn't work real messy.  The Simple Green!  WOrks like a charm!  Thanks Sean! Had some old Air Brush paint cups extc that look like new now!

Oh yeah forgot about those really old MC 200 Decals I had put in the window to un yellow? Here are the results.

Sean, thats looking stunning, my friend. Ready for paint indeed. I know the kit has raised panel lines. Any chance of a close up. I know this kit that ive just won, Ooh Everyone, i won that kit BTW and ordered an etch set and resin cowls for it, has them. And i was wondering what ill be up against. If theyre only lightly done, i may just sand them down a touch and live with them.

Aaron, those decals look the biz. Better than new. Id coat them with something before applying incase the suckers fall to bit.

Oooh Sean, i remember another beauty of a kit i made as a kid. I think it was an old airfix 1/72 FW 190. The bit that sticks in my mind was there was separate piece for the guns that just pressed in and i got glue everywhere and a huge gluey finger print on the canopy. Aaah the memories.

Now and then I get callbacks to go see new signs we've designed that "smeared". it's always the same- the maintenance crew didn't read the manual and used Simple Green to clean them. Powerful stuff!!

I had a recent decal nightmare. On my Cub- the cargo bay floor has traffic stripes- yes it's a big plane. These were the first decals in the sheet to go on, and they shattered in a million pieces. Cursing, where else am I gonna get decals for Soviet Cargo planes from 1980?- I grabbed a can of clear polyurethane and let loose on the sheet. It instantly turned brown like spilled coffee. So I went to bed, the next morning surveyed the damage and it looked terrible. I took a bottle of enamel airbrush thinner and a soft cloth and started dabbing, then wiping, then scrubbing vigorously. it came off! Remains to be seem what happens when I go to use them, but at least they are scannable, which I forgot to do the first time.

Ciao Reggazzi and I'm about 1 GB closer to this one, when I finish the Mavis this weekend. it's really rainy and everyone around here has homework, so tally Ho in the shop!

 I'll stick them back up there and see if there is any more diff. I am not using them as I finished the MC 200 in RA markings. Just they were as yellow as I had ever seen and thought it would be a cool test of the technique. We shall continue for the sake of science!

You won a kit Guy?  Well I'll be. Concrats and it should look swell next to your Sparrow SM 79.

Bondo that is the saddest decal story I have ever heard. Better on the sheet than on your aircraft I suppose? 

Guy - the raised lines are very fine , almost like a human hair.  It would not take much to remove them.

Aaron - Seems like to me I have goofed off for the past few days instead of applying myself at the bench.

Hey fellas, got a question for you as I know a lot of you are into flying boats.  I recently won an auction on Ebay for a group of kits, and this one was in the group as well.  I didn't know anything about it, but I won the set for a song!  A 1/48 Tamiya Corsair, 1/32 Tamiya A6M5, and a 1/48 Bv 138 all for under a hundred bucks!  Is this kit any good, and is it worth anything?  Don't really know much about it.  Thinking that since it was pretty much a free bonus, I may just use it as a paint hulk.

Hey all, Aaron, the kit looks like it could be a winner. Thx to Bondo, i read the review of the kit and that swung it for me. Woo hoo, CANT wait. LOL Geddit? Geeez wat a crowd.

Frank, did you have a go at D/L those decals? What printer do you print them on? Does it have to be an AMPS printer (Is that what theyre called?)

Well i have had a crack at my cockpit on the 205. As my plan is to do a closed pit, i really havent gone that mad on it. A couple of scratched wires here and there. A drybrush and a wash. Im using the decal on the IP and its settling down quite well. Ill give it a couple more coats of Mr Softer for it to snuggle down a bit further. Once its all dried ill post a couple of pics.

Frank, that BV 138 kit is on my Holy grail list. I would sell a limb for the sucker. Aaron and i were chatting about the kit the other day. He was trying to buy it as well.

Frank, that's one hell of a score!   The Bv 138 alone is worth upwards of $250 if you sold it, if you could find a buyer...its a hand made, limited run resin kit.  I don't know what it originally retailed for, but here, they have limited availiability for a mere 339.25 Euros ($437)

You guys sure this kit is that great (rare) ? As I am pretty  sure I have one in the Tomb of Stash.  I am almost positive it is the same . I will dig it out later tonight after the family goes to the High School Basketball game.  You dont want to see the look I get from the Wife when I pile 500 plus kits out in the living room. If it is the same kit - I got mine from the same place I bought those reference books I was telling you about earlier Frank. It was a bonus along with a few other kits as they just wanted that stuff gone. I have not messed with it as I have never messed with resin. I have some resin figures of ladies also Oooh la la not for the kids

I did not realize this was such a rare kit!  In fact, I had never even heard of the aircraft until I saw it in the listing.  I suppose being a hand made limited run kit ought to give it away.

So, both you and Aaron are looking for one of these bad boys?  Was there some sort of historical signifigance to it that makes it so popular?  Just seems strange that I had never even heard of it before.

Sean- Now THAT is weird!  When I saw it in the listing, I figured what the heck, don't have one of those in the stash.  What are the odds that two guys here got the same kit as a add-on to what they were really looking for?

I didn't pay anything like that amount! In fact I didn't pay anything at all! It was a Secret Santa gift from another forum. Boy I guess I owe someone a big smooch!

Anyways, here's mine on the shelf in the garage. I like seaplanes but I'm not much into modeling WW2 German; sorry Luft, so I promised it to a friend of mine. That's weird though, how often is it that so many guys would have the same kit?

Ha ha Frank that is not much of a retirement - but then again it is probably the best you will get in this economy for a while. Now my curosity is up on this B&V kit.  I think I might have robbed the Balkenkreuz's for a Revell kits that had yellowed and got brittle.

Here is where I am at now on the Cant Z, got the "Chopper " out and cut some small strips to fill in behind the hinges on the elevators.

FINALLY!!!  Thought my boss would never leave!!! 

First off, Sean, that big boy on your work bench is coming along quite nicely.  Can't wait to see you lay some paint on that giant airframe.

Secondly, I think we've gone a whole day's worth of posts and not once has anyone blamed me for anything.  Well... not including the wife anyway.

Thirdly, I built the Supermodel (recently re-issued by Rev. Ger.) 1/72 scale version of that BV 138 aircraft and it's a beautiful looking aircraft.  I was in Chicago many years ago and was trolling around the hobby shops when I came across that kit and it was so wonderfully bizare that I had to have it.  I highly recomend it in any scale. 

Great score bondo!  From the sounds of it, you really made off like a bandit.

Crazy how the people that don't really get into a kit, are the ones who have one and the people who want one don't.

Post often so that we know you haven't been buried in an avalanche.  If we don't hear from you we'll be right over to lift the boxes off and will likely be forced to confiscate many so that you don't injure yourself again.

Score - well sort of, I am just glad it was on a shelf towards the back. I hate unpacking the boxes of kits as it takes me hours to fit them all back in the same box.  This is about a third of what I moved out of the way on the right side of the Tomb.

Not very rare at all in my opinon from what I have seen. Ebay must have a bunch also.

I like that BV138 kit a lot, as a matter of fact I have two of them in my stash. When my LHS went out of business he had two of them and I picked them up for $20.00. I have also seen a lot of them on Ebay and for a good price to boot. Its not rare at all and plenty can be found everywhere. Aaron, if you want one its all yours my friend. Its not a big deal to part with one of them I can pick up more if I need one for a good price. Just let me know.

Steve I still may take you up on that!  I have been conversating with a fellow named Gerald that is part owner of one of the Hannant's stores in England. We have been talking about  american football since the superbowel. Something about the key word being foot?  Anyways I sent him some pics of the Fonderie Minatures  Halifax  which he liked so much he offered me one from a personal collection.  The catch is I'd have to do a build article for their catalog.  I could say yes but having to complete something on a 2 or 3 month deadline and brushing up on my photography skills  scares me.  Still it would be a free kit of an odd plane.

 Heck since so many of you all have one I should get it just cuz then maybe our next group build could be the Flying Cloggers!

The "Flying Cloggers GB", I like that!  That is awesome you have the opportunity to build one of those, AND have it published in a magazine!  You really whipped that FM kit into submission, perhaps I should send mine to Texas and let you do your magic on it! LOL...
