Yeah it works pretty well. I used Tamiya Metallic Gray for the dull parts and Silver for the shinier areas . For stand outedness I used Model master chrom on the wheel spokes or as a drybrush.  Regular old gray on some things as well. Suttle effects that show a big difference to enhance details or lack there of on older kits. It's fun to p[lay to see what you can do and easy to fix if you don't like it.

I dunno Looks like Guy . Frank, You and I today. Must be family day? Bondo is working on his PBY.

Well in my 205 book the gear legs are a dull alluminium, oops sorry, Alluminum, along with the insides of the gear doors. I do mine with alclad Dull alluminium and the shocker part with thier Chrome. A good wash of burnt umber and im done. Just so happens ive done that very thing tonight.

Welp they are aluminum  now, a bit shiny but the final dullcoat will fix that.

Frank - I have been reading back through some old postings thanks to your tip on jumping pages Thumbs Up [tup] and found the pictures of the U-2 you posted. Funny thing, I just bought a Lockheed U-2 off ebay a few weeks back. It is the only post WWII turbine powered aircraft in my stash.Laugh [(-D] And as of date it might end up being the first jet to get built ever by me. Confused [%-)]

Sean,

Glad you liked that pic!  I have several up close shots of a U-2R from the year before.  If you would like to see any of them, let me know and I'll PM them to you. Thumbs Up [tup]

Here's a video of the one in the photos I took with my cellphone.  Couldn't believe how lucky I was to be standing front and center two years in a row when it taxied up!  Unbelievably loud too.  Check out the short video, and turn the volume WAAAAAY up! Shock [:O]

Guy - looking good, I use Kristal Klear for all kinds of stuff but I have never used it on guage faces. Maybe I should build something that has an IP instead of a decal..  My favorite use for the Klear stuff is to tack on cowlings so I can mask and paint them. Then I can pop  them off install the engine and prop as one of the last steps. (I hate repairing props)

You really should build the Supermodel BV 138 ! I have taken a real liking to that kit brand myself after messing with three different ones for this GB.  Raised panel lines - big deal Laugh [(-D]

Guy -  I just sold some ebay stuff to a guy who lives in the UK. What is the dollar ammount before you have to pay duties ? He bought so many kits I would like to give him a break with his parcel.

Sean when you go to the post office it goes like this, I'm not kidding I've had this conversation twice in the last month:

"I'd like to ship this parcel to England".

"Are you interested in USPS Express Mail. It'll will get there in 5-10 business days".

"How much is that?".

"$ 42.55".

"Umm, what else are my choices?".

"Here, look at the screen".

($ 27.15, 18.45, 14.95 etc.)

"Well I'd like the cheapest possible, as long as it's not by surface".

"We don't do that anymore. The cheapest is $ 2.85 and it will arrive in 5-10 business days. But it's not the Holiday so it should arrive sooner."

Do Not ever assign a customs value- go no value. otherwise the person at the other end faces unnecessary hassle and fees.

Bondo - Thanks for replying, I try to keep the parcels under four pounds so they can go by First Class International. Priority is crazy anymore and UPS is off the charts. Propeller [8-]

The Cant Z is still making progress, I am in the process of making the main canopy mask and fixing the seams on the nacelles.

I had a thing from PS saying my Arione is going to be here thursday. CANT wait... Geddit? Geddit?...Geez tough crowd.

So what are all these kits you boys have arriving? Is it for Secret santa? I should have joined and said...my preference is for German clog shaped seaplanes in 1/48...I can swap a couple of full pots of tamiya paint and a pack of wine gums. LOL

What a day today. Up at 5.30 am, motorbiked in, in the peeing rain and it hasnt stopped all day, rode home in the same peeing rain. At least i have tomorrow off. Thk bleeding God.

No, like I said it's not my kindof deal so I gave it to a friend of mine. I'm a little worried because it's his first kit, but it doesn't look too hard. I think he's planning to do a whatif captured by the French.
