Here ya go Guy. Man with the future coat its hard to take good pictures and it shows every tiny flaw.

Gotta get some decals on ther to cover up some of the ugly spots and get that horrible shine off of it. man it looks like crap up close with the shiney future coat on it.

Bondo, I have to agree with Crushy, you and he have done a stunning recruitment drive. Perhaps i should be the one sending sweeties?

Thanks Bondo. This model has the square faces with no white background. Hopefully the CA decals will not silver as there is a large clear section on the faces. I know what you mean about putting a decal over a hard masked camo line and ending up with a visible seam where the two paints meet leaving a funny line in your decal. When I sprayed this model I was very carefull to spray at a very low angle across the mask so I would not end up with the dreaded ridge. It came out nice with no ridge. In fact I was a little to carefull and I did not get enough paint close enough to the tape so I hade to put some tape on the camo edge and spray a bit more paint to cover up the primer that was still showing through. It seems like I have been airbrushing forever on this model!

Very nice, Crush! Do the national insig.s, the fasces, have a white background? I like to spray down a circle of the lightest of the camo colors under where that kind of thing goes, just to get a little more pop. Also, I've had it where the camo demark line goes through it and you can see that, which looks phony.

Oh I though I buried that thread far enough back that you would miss is Guy! As for chocolates I do'nt like them so I have none to send you. I could come up with an appropriate video though. Do'nt you think Bondo and me get extra credit for recruiting Jeremy?Big Smile [:D]

Finally making progress on the G-55. I have all of colors layed down and one coat of future drying. This kit seems to be really draging on. The complicated camo and a couple of overspay and masking errors added to it but I am getting close. Here is a piccy for you Guy!

Ya I'm thinking we need to send him to see that guy about that thing ya know Bondo. You know the thing we were talking about? The guy that does that thing. He's gone ya know, and there was nothing we could do about it ya know? I think Guy is going to like Jeremy just fine. I just am not sure he knows what he has gotten himself into. He has'nt even met Sarge yet! My last girlfreind was a 100% Italian girl. She did'nt last very long because she turned out to be one of those spoiled little ginnie brats so she had to go! Buy me this buy me that, NOT! Lets wake Guy up and tell him the good news! New recruit!

Nice choice Jeremy! I have that bad boy stashed away for a rainy day. I had to borrow my sisters camera to make my video so it took a long time to make but I finally did. So if it takes you a while no problem. Remember your already in so there is no getting out. You will just be harrased by Guy until you comply! Since Guy probally has his head on a pillow right now being that he is at 0 GMT I can already prewarn you what your first homework assignment will be. You must post a pic of the airplane you are modeling. It's pretty much standard pratice around here. if you have the time you might have some fun going back through the thread and watching some of the videos. If you find the video of Scott Baio you win a prize!

Guy I think this Special Hobby kit gets more confusing the more I look at it. I do'nt think they did their research on this one. If I remember correctly you said you wanted to do the splinter camo. This was an experimental camo scheme and as far as I can tell only the planes from the 1st Squadriglia II Group carried this camo scheme. According to the Classic Airframes these planes were equipped with the wing mounted cannon not the under engine guns. I have never seen a picture of a G-55 with the guns mounted under the engine. I looked at the instructions and you are correct they make no mention of the wing cannons even though the access panels are for them are scribed in the upper wing! At this point I felt like I had done you wrong there buddy by telling you to fill the lower cowl in if there were no wing cannons! You could have changed build it as an early version. If you look in the kit Tree letter C part number 17. These are the wing cannons that they instructions foget to mention to install on the splinter camo version. I can not speak for the other choices but I doubt very strongly that they had the under engine guns either. I have found Classic Airframes research to be much more reliable than most other kits and that is how I am building both of mine. The cannons look like crap and I would recomend cutting of the barrels and drilling them out and installing some brass tube. If you look at the walk around you can see how poorly molded the cannons and farings are. I did this on the CA kit and the look much better. Here is the Classic Airframes picture. I also would not install the underwing shackels as they are not shown in the Classic Airframes pics either.

That is one fantastic T shirt. I have several...err...dodgy ones, that Geri hates me wearing LOL. Aah well.

As for my 'dumbass' moment with the lower cowl....'Whats he talking about? There isnt another cowl in the box........oh, there it is'. I managed to fill the undercanon troughs fairly easily with with some similar sized sprue. This was 'Tamiya thinned' into place, left for a few hours and then sanded down,

there were a couple of low spots which were easily filled with Mr Surfacer 500,

Ive since painted some acrylic on the troughs to check its good and it is. Onwards and upwards.

What else do i need to know to fix on the thing? I know the front scoops of the exhausts need fettling but what about wing armament? Theres no mention of wing guns yet they are on the sprues. Oh, problems problems.

Doing pretty good although still deaf as a door nail? ( What does that mean? Odd saying isn't it?

Guy the boy just left for work but said to tell you if you want a bigger smile from him, better send him one of your bikes! Or buy him a new one.  Said the Ducati would suffice.Tongue [:P]

I think I will sit down today and actually try and build something.

Mabye Bondo but they are pretty deep. I guess it depends on how well the lower cowl has attached itself to the fuselage. If it come free without destroying the fuselage then I would definetly go that route. If nnot then I would definetly have to be some type of expoy sanded to shape. I do'nt thing putty would be strong enough to stay put. I guess we shall find out soon. If anyone can fix it I'm sure Guy can.

Well I hope that cowl is not glued on there to good Guy. I really studied this kit when I compared it to the CA kit. What really made me take a closer look was the fact that there were two fuselages. I notices small differences in the two and then saw the early type lower cowl. It was then that I figured out you could build two different versions out of this kit. So i carefully noted the parts needed to build the production version so I did not mix them up. That is the up side of being a slow builder like me. Plently of time to research while I procrastinate instead of build!Big Smile [:D]

Looks like you are moving right along there Guy. I hate to rain on your parade there buddy but you have the incorrect lower engine cowl installed. The two groves in that cowl were on the prototype version only. The were channels for two guns that were mounted under the engine. The production version never used them. It should have a smooth cowl like a 109. There are parts in this kit to build both the prototype and the first production version. If you look at the instructions sheet it shows which parts are not to be used on this version by showing them in the shaded areas of the sprues in the instructions. Sorry big boy you have to do it over.Sad [:(]
