Well to me it looks like you got it whipped HK!  I think from that angle if I disect the photo I can see what you mean about the different thickness but it seems you have eventhem some what. The Wing is level and that is a task in itself with the ill fitting spars and they all look in the right position. I think it looks hunky dory! See no real sign of the woes your having there.

The early Pre war ones do have a Natural metal doped finish with a colored tail. If you'd like I have such a scheme on the Smer kit? Perhaps even the decals would pull it off. I'll try to get a pic of it up!

So there was such a scheme if you get a hankering! Also Night fighters I believe in all black. Or you can jazz it up! That is the glory of the RA Schemes dozens of choices!

Guy- Looks like you are living up to your title "MASTER BUILDER" (or was it Censored [censored])  Can never remember which... LOL  Seriously, fine work and so fast too!  How do you find time to sleep or work at that breakneck speed? Confused [%-)]

Troy- Sorry to hear that kit is giving you fits, from the photos she looks quite good. Thumbs Up [tup]

Troy Troy Troy, Tut tut tut. (In a knowing smug voice) You should have checked in earlier as the one who's fault it is said! That CA kit is an absolute beaut, that is if your building a monoplane version and not adding the top wing LOL. Its the struts that are just 'B atches' I wonder what the Italieri kit is like? The CR.42? I imagine it goes together like a Tamigawa compared to CA's effort. Maybe a kit bash could be attempted. The glorious CR.32's nose could be grafted to the 42's Fuse. mmmmmm, thats got me thinking LOL.

As for painting the sucker. I painted the fuse and lower wing separately, then the top wing and then joined the 2 together. Good luck painting yours, could be ...err...interesting. 1,000,000 bonus ninja points if you go for a nmf.

Frank, Oh ye of the lacking video! What are you saying? Has it anything to do with Baiting? LOL.

Oh I do like that shirt!  I think it could be the start of a multi million dollar fad!  The whole world will want to know who is this Dave?  He must be to blame for all the world's woes!

Dave you are truely international!!!! LOL!!!!!  I need to get me one of those for sure!!!!

The Flying boat looks the bomb Guy!  How large is it?  Some of those 1/72 bits can be very large!  I was looking at that work you did earlier and thought to myself Gee that sure is big!  Then the last pic kinda popped the illusion!

That is an Interesting question abpout the Italerie CR 42? Aparently the molds were good enough for Tamiya to use them as well.  It looks like a pretty nice kit!   Yes Guy I have it as well!  My stash is very 1/48ish!  Although the 1/32's are present.

I'll get it going soon ol Boy!  Right now I am still plunking around with this beast! Gotta figure out the license Numbers and I think Sean wanted me to add some old boots somewhere?

A little weathering and figs on a base and I should get close to the picture eh?

Of course Guy finished his months ago!  I am shamed into humble exile!  Guess I need to go get me a T-shirt LOL! Thumbs Up [tup] Thats awesome!

Aaron: Looking good. Neat Tamiya re-packing of the Italeri kit. My 1/72 Mc.202 is the same.

Great shirt, Guy! I agree...a fad in the making. You're such a tend setter.

HK: I feel your pain. I got lucky on my first bi-plane, but the second one was tough. It took forever and a few days to get everything lined up on all three axis. As soon as I had the vertical lines parralel, I was off front to aft. Nonethe less, it will make the kit all the more enjoyable to look at when you're done.

What T shirt?.....Oh this old thing LOL. Right thats this months homework. Everyone has to get a 'Its all Dave's fault' T shirt and appear on the site with it. In the strangest place (The photo) wins.

Aaron, the half track looks fantastic. Hopefully your going to hit it with a large dose of Flat? Looks a little glossy from here Whistling [:-^] The Tamiya CR looks like its a pretty good kit. Its all down to the struts and thier location points.

Charles, i think your 'T' should have a crown on it somewhere or another, seeing as your Royalty, an all. Bow [bow]

Guy - The shirt made me laugh.  I bet everyone is wondering "Who Dave Is"

Aaron- I did a search on the Tamiya kit this morning $49.99 , Italeri for $13.87 - I wonder what the difference is other then the decals and the Italeri does not come with the Fuel drums & ect.?

I will place an order for one so we can compare the sprues..... Whistling [:-^]

I know, I know, I didn't pay much attention to the build until I finished my other project.Disapprove [V] Still doesn't change the fact that I'd have had to tackle this kit eventually, with all the same problems.

I'll consider that NMF. It looks kinda cool! Depends on how much of the CA I can get cleaned up for a smooth finish.

Love the shirt! I, too, was laughing and right here are work! People think I'm crazy. Now where can I get one of those? Can anyone say Group Buy?

Ha I was still laughing!

Yeah That Tamiya CR 42 is just the  Italerie kit with some extras and all German Night fighter markings!  Sean that is a great price for that kit. I got this one and The Tamiya Type 95 Ha Go  for just over $20 and couldn't pass up on that deal. The Type 95 is a rebox of the Fine Molds Kit with the Jap Infantry included.  I see those going for pretty high $ as well?  Not sure why? Tamiya name I guess.

Hi folks, i know it`s quite some time since i`ve posted anything but here ir goes.

First the bad news, the big Macchi has stalled. The custom etchings won`t come soon so my hands are tied. The little 202 however is almost ready for paint, it needs just a little surfacer on the cowling and the weel covers /i`ve decided to finish it in flight/ and it`s on to the booth. However i`ve started another project, the 1/48 CA ICR.42 Idrovolante. Not much done for the moment, just started the pit i hope to put some paint on it tonight. No pics for the moments /my camera is in the repair shop/, but hopefully tomorrow there will be.

Have you not read the forum? Are you crazy? Another Classic Airframes CR Kit? Nooooooooooo! I cant bear to look. Well, I can seeing as its the float plane version and i am having a bit of a float plane fad at the mo. I think its just down to a mad aversion to wheels!!!. Good luck.

But Congo, you appear to late for a couple of pieces of Homework! Were are all still expecting a short video saying 'Hi' to the rest of the GB memebers and showing us your modelling Pit.

And secondly, you need a 'Its all Dave's fault' T shirt and to be photographed somewhere crazy (Like your lounge, like me).

Anyhoo, its glad to have you back in the fold.

Guys,

Sorry for being awol on this GB, but I have finally started my 21st Century Macchi 202.  Unfortunately, I only got one pic taken before the blasted batteries died.  I've got the cockpit done and am almost ready to button up the fuselage.  Wings and wheel wells are together, too.  Fit is surprisingly good so far, and test fitting shows the various fuselage and cowling pieces go together well, too, with the exception of the lower cowl which shows a significant gap just in front of the wing.  Surface detail is pretty heavy handed and soft, but not out of line for a $10 kit!  Keep pressing, hope to show more progress soon,

Cheers.

Hey ho, me again. Just a quicky before the footy comes on. Heres where im at. Ive been masking the windows for what seems like weeks now. I think id be waiting till hell freezes over for Eduard or similar to make masks for this sucker Anyhoo, ive done it and using my fav method of blending bad fitting glass in (Superglue and Interior colour paint, separately of course) Its all faired and waiting to dry,

Ive also squirted the floats with Airframe ally ready for thier topcoat and subsequant weathering,

I also gave the engines a quick squirt of flat black and then a good drybrushing with some silver,

Thats it, footys about to start. More soon......Get your T shirts on. LOL.

Jeff and Guy- Looks like you two are flying along with your builds!  Great work fellas. Approve [^]

I have been working on my G-6 this weekend, and have the spinner inner colors sprayed, prop blades smoothed and filled, oil cooler scoop installed, and painted the tailwheel.  I have been experimenting with the painted markings, and so far no joy.  I have the squadron badges Aaron sent me, but I cannot get the rest of them to work.

I spent the better part of this evening trying to hunt down some RA Me-109G-6 markings, and have come up with nothing.  Pacific Coast Models will no longer answer my emails regarding the Sky decals I tried to order a couple of months ago, and I tried Squadron, Sprue Bros, Flightdecs, Roll Models, Great Models, Ebay, Stormo, and some general Internet searches and found nothing.

Does anyone have an extra set of 1/48 Me-109G-6 RA markings?  Not sure what to do at this point.

Guy-

PERFECT!  Just seeing that set showed me a G-6 I had not come across before.  The decals in the kit Aaron sent me have two of the "365" codes and the unit badge, so I can cut those decals up to get the ones I need.  Thank you very much, sure feels good to be back on track.  Guy, you're so cool- an ace and all.  I wish I were your son. Sean:

I seem to have naturally adopted the same procedure, only I break mine off inadvertantly at some time before the painting process! I just keep it aside and will re-attach near the end! You'd think I'd learn by now...

Looking sweet Charles. Any ideas on a paint scheme yet?

And what are you doing blaming your fat fingers? You should know on this GB, there is only one person to blame.....Dave!!!

I bought model airplane international today, Sssh dont tell Kelly. In it was a great article and pics on the French Dewoitine D.520 in RA service. Ive fancied doing one of those for a while now and seeing them in RA service may have just solved my 'What next' Dilemma. Its Tamiya as well, so should go together fairly easily LOL. Supermodel is easy to build in an insanely frustrating way LOL.

I may post pics later, if your all lucky girls and boys....If i dont, you know who to blame.

What I mean to say was thanks to Dave, the darned aerial broke off!! Thanks a lot, Dave!!!!

As for the paint scheme, I will apply Mr. Grant's smoke rings for one of the OOB decal schemes.
