Guy its great to see some paint on the G-55. She is lloking great so far. I am really interested to see how the splinter camo comes out as it is the scheme my next G-55 will carry. Bad migrane headache had had me sidelined for the last couple of days so my G-55 is sitting waiting for the dullcoat. The  I can start attaching all of the fiddly bits and finally wrap it up so I can start on the SH G-55.

Well ive had a great day today. Spent the afternoon down the river with the dogs and Geri. Fantastic weather and a Vulcan Bomber, a Euro fighter typhoon and the red arrows flying overhead just for us (Or so it seemed LOL)....oh and got loads of modelling done in the morning.

This colour scheme is most definately an eyeopener. Cos of the way i did it, i didnt get to see what it was going to look like right till i pulled all the masking off. And there was a fair bit of masking. Heres what she looks like....be afraid,

The colour looked very garish to my eye but i sort of new it would. So i bought out my secret weapon. Migs Tri-tonal wash. Seen more commonly over on the Armor forum. Heres what she looked like after the wash. In the pic its still wet. It looks a lot better dry,

Im going back up there in a mo to squirt the lot with some future ready for decals.

Whatchareckon?

So  What happened?  The doggies took your model to a River Park this AM?  drudged it thru  different colors a puppy poo and you decided to  use it as a camo scheme and sealed it with future?

Looks  pretty drastic but oddly I can't look away from it.  Picasso inspired no doubt.  I'd say you have another stunner but be sure to share your secrets on hiding the oderiferous stench ofthe color!

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNow!

Guy, thats beginning to look great and indeed a eye popper

Steve is right and I shall add nose offender to the description!  Marvelous!  The Yahoo ID is sfcmac65 by the way. Real original!

Oh I reckon it's beautiful! Not too bad abt the Vulcan, neither! Lucky man.

Regazzi- since my last reggie build was silver dope/ red, I'm venturing into color for the first time for the BA 44. Research on this somewhat rare machina (there were only 10) suggests a wartime camo of the following, which is "D2" in the Stormo list:

Undersides of wings and fuse- Grigio Azurro Chiaro (Light blue grey) The matches are Humbrol 141, or Tamiya X134 Lt. Sea Gray.

Basic color- Nocciola Chiaro (Light Hazel) The matches are Humbrol 118 or 119, or Tamiya XF-82 US Tan.

Little blotchy spots, kinda far apart-  Verde Oliva Scuro (Dark olive green) The matches are Humbrol 91 or Tamiya XF-27

Any wisdom before I go buy this stuff would be helpful. Oh, and Wednesday is my birthday.

Guy great job on that hard camo scheme. Looks like you have pulled it of very convincingly. I agree the colors look a little to fresh as you have sprayed them but might I make a different suggestion. Frank turned me on to airbrushing over the whole thing with highly thinned Buff colored wash to soften up the colors and blend the lines where the two different colors meet. It worked great on my streaked camo for my Fokker D VII and I plan on useing it agian for this camo scheme. I made my wash from Tamiya Buff and I used alcohol to think it down to an almost a 5% Buff 95% alcohol. The alcohol makes the paint dry almost instantly as you airbrush it and because it is s thin you can build it up very slowly and see you progress. Almost impossible to mess up! if I can pull it off anyone can. Just a suggestion but I have'nt steared you wrong yet on this prodject have I?

Aaron thanks for the good whishes. Finally starting to feel a bit of relief today after a couple of days. Hopefully tonight I will be back at the bench tonight. I would not wan't Sarge sending any spiders my way! No worries though my cat Scooter would probally just kill em' anyway.

Your B-Day again already?!?!?! Jeeze how many of those do you have a year? Wow It doesn't seem possible but I guess it is?  Happy Birthday to you. Flip it around it's 35 right? That is what Dee does but it won't work this year as both numbers are the same.

Model Master has specific colors that correspond to the scheme you speak of. Even says Italian light gray, Italian Olive extc on the bottle.  They seem to be on the mark to me but I am no color expert.  That is what I use to mask my ignorance though.

Glad to here you are doing better!  SC!

Guy - That looks amazing! I really love the camo on that one! Thumbs Up [tup]

COMPASS! I have built a compass and sprayed for spiders. Definitely not perfect but it looks the part. Just because I'm perfect doesn't mean that my work needs to be.

BTW... this Trumpeter kit fits together worse than a Monogram kit left in the desert sun for 25 years and then sat on... and sinkmarks galore! AND, all of the clear parts have lines in them kinda like the flow marks in regular styrene... look almost like scratches. Future did nothing for them! Maybe I just got a bad kit but I was expecting a little more from Trumpeter. Disapprove [V]

SC - I can't wait to see your G55 finished!

Glad you like the looks of her so far. Ive futured the beast so its decals tomorrow.

Happy Birthday for Wednesday Bondo. Whats your plan for the day? Plenty of gesturing women and loads of pasta ill bet. A bit of cooing and cheek pulling to boot? Have a great day my friend. Great choice for the build, A BA44 eh? im going to have to see what one of thems looks like. The Vulcan is an awsome thing to behold. When its just poodling round the sky, its barely making a sound but when it turns on the taps, oh man.

Crusher, glad to hear that your migraine is easing. I had an ex Mrs Lufty that suffered really badly and i know what a horrid thing they are. I reckoned hers were down to her pea sized brain rattling around. Cheers for the tip on the diluted Buff. I saw your D VII and it came out superb. I will give it a go on this one, yet im not going to go too wild as i want the camo to be a bit 'Out there'. Yet then again, i think ill play it by ear LOL.

Jeremy, ive seen a few of the Trumpy SM.79's built and i always thought they were cake walks. I think differently now. Wont stop me from getting one though LOL. Love the sight. It looks spot on from the refs. Did you say what your camo scheme is going to be? Post a pic if you do..or have.

...Guy

#EDIT#

Bondo i just looked up you plane,

And heres one in combat colours. Looks like yellow engine cowls. Nice,

looks a lot like a Dehaviland Rapide....Cool Beans.

Wo, nice pic mate. hadn't seen that Reggie one. Yellow, maybe white? either way, gotta add that. Do you have a better version of that? In particular if you could make out the Civil reg. (liars!) on the tail that'd be helpful. Mine is I-AURA.

I fear it is worse than just paint fumes.  Legend has it that during a soccer match that  Guy tried to kock the ball into the goal with one of those fancy head shots.  Unfortunately his mates pulled a joke on him and replaced the soccer ball with a bowling ball.  The resulting trauma had strange side effects though.  Turned him into some kind of plastic superhero with the modeling skills of a mad genius!  At least that is what I have heard. Dunce [D)]Laugh [(-D]

That and his current diet/weight loss plan.  could explain the odd behavior and rugged good looks perhaps.

I give you Mr soft and cuddely!

Basterds!!! the lot of you. And that bowling ball was very heavy. I put one hell of a dent in it though...and scored. Sorry Jeremy, i remember now LOL.

Glad you liked the Pc Bondo, ill just have a look now to see what else i can find. I dont know what it is with me. If im building something, i really get into the build after seeing lots of reference pics. I dont think ive ever built something without going on here first to read up on it and find loads of pics of the beast,

Aaron, That was a great link for bondo, awwwwwww!!! I agree!!!Boohoo [BH] Love the lot of ya'sBlush [:I]

Jeremy, I am gathering stories from alot of people about Trump kits!!! They put out these awesome huge things and great subjects in all scales, however, the grit is in the fit!!! Alot can be said about a manufacturer not singly based on detail. Even the real ones have to be beaten into submission. Looking back, I have to say the best ever fitting kit I ever built was an MPC 1/72 CH-53 Super Jolly!!!! It practically fell together!! That was in the 80's!! Even Airfix can knock it for six sometimes! Sorry to ramble! GoodMake a Toast [#toast]!!

Guy, I had the pleasure of seeing a Vulcan climbing out of McClellan AFB in Sacramento California in the late 70's!!! Practically over my house and I distinctly remember the howl it made!!! Would be grande to hear that again!! Lucky man!Make a Toast [#toast]

Thanks! The plan is fish dinner at Yankee Pier, followed by trivia night at the bar. We three are a force to be reckoned with. Oh, and major LHS raid too. I need a B-17 b/c/d for my new Boeing 307 build, and those paints, thx A.

Seriously, Aaron, her little number game isn't going to be much fun starting next year! Yepp, 35, that about does it but it'll beat being 25.Oh, and the big "21" the next day too!

Great pictures Guy. I need a good source. Very unfortunately my kit hasn't the upper glazing in the cockpit- the upper edge of the winscreen is on a level with the side windows. You can see that on the box art. But I should be able to make something, as it is characteristic. Otherwise the kit has maybe eight parts, so a little time spent would be worth it.

It is like a Dragon Rapide. As a result of the "where's that darn canopy?" incident, I have most of an extra unbuilt Rapide in a box, which I am gonna take props, cockpit bits, tyres and exhausts from as they are a little nicer than the resin ones. Decals look fine....

I'll pose 'em side by side when it's a little farther along.

Well im calling this done. The splinter scheme wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be. I found with the MIG tri-tonal filter and a light mist of buff, the splinter scheme seemed ok in my eye. Anyhoo, here she is, be nice,

I definetly like the splinter camo Guy. The buff overspray really ties it all together and give it a nice slightly weathered and realistic look. I always like the unusual camo schemes. Well done young man! Now where is the Cr 32?Big Smile [:D]

I did look after your generous offer. Ill have to see what else they have that Italian. I have a plan. If its there it will be a cracker.

Guy when you do decide to attach the antenna take a close look at the pics. It does not attach to the top of the mast as expected. It attaches lower down on the mast. Very weird. The offer is still open if you still fancy building the Classic Airframes Cr 32 and can not find one. I love the pic of you on facebook sitting behind the steering wheel of that huge bus.Big Smile [:D]

Your Sm 79 is looking good so far. I have the same kit stashed away. I also have the Classic Airframes Sm 79 also. It really blows the Trumpeter away because it has a complete highly detailed resin interior. It also is made so that the hump back behind the cockpit can be posed open to see all of the detail. Something that Trumpeter should have done.

Thank you!

I read a couple of reviews on the Classic Airframes kit and it looked really nice. IMHO, it's a good thing that Trumpeter didn't make the hump back open. There is zero detail below it and the rear of the fuselage is full of large nasty ejector pin marks. As it is, the door on the side was only meant to be posed open. There is no way to close it unless you make something to hold it in place... just falls right through. The outside of the door has two deep ejector pin marks in it and three sink marks that coincide with the framework on the inside of the door. It's not beyond most people's skills to correct these problems, but it's just a PITA! Like I said before... I was expecting a little more from a Trumpeter kit.

BTW... in the last picture you can kind see the line in the window that I was talking about. Every single one of them has it. Even though all the cockpit glass is one piece, a few of the panes have the line also. It is actually in the plastic itself... can't be buffed out! Angry [:(!]

Unfortunatly Jeremy you got everything Trumpeter is known for. Ejector pins all over the place. Most of them in highly visible areas. That and just plain poor overall quality. Lets face it if its made in China is crap. Thats all they know how to do. They really make you work to fix all of there screw ups to get a nice build out of it.  Save me a meatball sandwich!Big Smile [:D]

Jeremy, very nice progress and looking good. I want to build one of those whenever I happen to find one, been looking but no joy so far.
