Regia Aeronautica GB II (06/15/09 to 06/15/10)

The cake was my favorite part of trying this! Basically I tried to somewhat replicate what you did to get a little practice before I figure out what I need to do for my particular aircraft. After a few attempts and a couple of beer breaks, this is the end result. I need to find some smaller wire and something a little sharper to cut it with but not too bad.

After finishing the seatbelt, I booted my lovely wife Karen from the computer to make my previous post. She graciously stepped aside so that I could get my forum fix... she always does. In fact, as long as the chores are done, she doesn't say a word about me playing with my silly airplanes.

Looking for some pics of the SM79 I saved on the computer, I ran across some of our wedding photos. Since this is the Italian area and my little Italian seductress "allows" me to be here, I figured I would introduce you to her.

Notice the smile on her face and the lack of one on mine... she thinks she has my fortune! HA!

"Is it in here?" She thinks that she has found it! HAHA! 

"Nothing but airplane models?!" HAHAHA!

In the end... I win!

Seriously... she's a great gal (with a mean Italian temper) and I love her for many things including stepping aside when I want to slide from the modeling desk to the computer.

Crushliness, that tin was a stark reminder of the once good times. (he types while eating a lettuce leaf) I have no worries getting anymore, as the future ex Mrs Lufty is quite capable of stuffing her pie hole with a few hundred.

Oh btw, i may have said that i have a new phone. It has loads of stuff that i havent a clue what it does, but it lets me comment on here though. Well... maybe I could have figured it out. I will give you a bow but I don't want to be your son unless I receive a monthly allowance... back-payed for the last 34 years!

Quick update before the wife gets home from work. The final result of the seatbelts... far from accurate and very toy like but I'm sure I'll get better with time.

Hopefully I can close her up this weekend!

What's all this about me taking so long to paint the prop?  It only took me a COUPLE of months LOL.

The Brown Recluse. A Deadly spider with large enough fangs to easily penatrate the human skin. It's venom actually digest the tissue resulting in huge open growing non healing sores that look something like a shark bite that is rotting!  On my front porch with loads of babies on her back. This is a relatively small one with only a 1 inch body not counting her shapely legs.  She is demanding in progress pics! Or she may visit you as well!  ( lets hope not)

Easily recognized by the fiddle shaped marking above the eight stationary eyes this is a nocturnal hunter. Hiding in the shadows and likes to make its home in clothing hanging in closets. Maybe even the shirt you are going to put on in the morning. Perhaps inside your shoe?   She wants you!!!!!!

Do any of you fine gents know what this is behind the windshield in the center of the cockpit on the SM79?

When I lived in Arkansas my cousin was bitten on the shin by that bad mamajama. I couldn't look at his leg for months without puking... and the smell!

Guess I will scratch build myself a compass and spray with insecticide before installation!

I had been bitten by one of these in the bedroom. My finger actually died, but luckily I still have it.

The good part is that I went to the Derm and he did a biopsy of the nevus. It turned out to be Melanoma, which is a whole other story that I'm cured of, but that little Brown Recluse saved my life. No exaggeration.

That is a very cool story Bondo!  Saved by a potentially maiming event!  Whats bad down here is they are not so little.  Suprisingly (to me) The largest recorded in Texas had a 2 and 3/4 inch body. Easily the size of a childs hand. I looked that up after stepping on one on the back porch that was about 2 inches.  The crunch it made still gives me shivers and them buggers are quick.

 Sorry to have been so harsh on your hero but they do like to get in the house.

Worse spider story I have was while working as a switchman in Galveston in the dark I was bleeding off the air on a pair of mile long tracks and ran into this giant web between the two tracks.

This is the comon bananna spider big and scary looking but harmless.

 What I ran into was the Brown Banana Spider also known as the Brazilian Wandering spider.

These fellows grow to the size of a dinner plate.  Two jumps and it can cross a street. Unreal how fast it moved. 

When I ran into the web those big legs came out over the brim of my hat. Apparently they come off the produce boats hiding in the bananna bunches. Well I almost knocked myself out  screaming like a little girl down between the dark tracks with that fellow.  Thankfully it didn't hang around long either but we saw it darting across the yard from time to time in the headlights.

Come to find out they are one of the worlds most venomous spiders and have been known to kill a man in 25 minutes. No joke look it up.  Unlike the brown recluse that runs off and avoids contact these fellows are counted as being rather aggressive.  Nice to have had one on top my head eh?

Well since we are on the subject of creepy crawlies, here are a couple baddies from down under. The Red Back iswhat it looks like, a cousin to the Black Widow with the same type of bite. The White-tail is more like a Brown Recluse in it's bite. Red back females can reach about 1.5" normal leg spread and the white-tail about 1".

There is another bad one farther north, sydney trap door spider. I'm sure there are many more here but that is the ones I know about. There is one like a banana spider although not as colorful. A brownish gray color called a Huntsman. They get like the size Aaron mentioned, about 2" but are harmless.

Very good stuff boys. You are suitably forgiven....EXCEPT BONDO..Bad boy, bad boy. Im loving the sponge Bondo pic though. Perhaps as penance you should appologise profusely in the costume? Now that would be cool.

Hey hoo, Ive actually gotten some paint on the G.55, heres a couple of pics,

First up, the underside preshade,

then the neutral grey with just a drop of blue, lightly misted over so as not to totally hide the pre-shade,

then a couple of drops of white to lighten the mix so i can lighten various panels and bits and bobs,

I gave that lot a night to go off, then attacked the top side. I sprayed the white for the fuselage band. With the complicated nature of this camo, i sprayed a few dark yellow blobs ready to be masked off in prep for the next colour (Green btw),

More to come tomorrow. Im off work for a fortnight now. Its part of my annual holiday. I might be going away for a couple of days but the rest of the time, im at the bench!!
