All these great builds ! You guys are makin me ashamed mine is taking so long. Sorry I havent been around in a few days, was a bit under the weather but I am back now

Fermis Whats your secret ?? How do you build so fast and so well. That is a very convincing finish.

LancairIV Nice foil work there, do you give lessons ?

Sherman1111 Another build I cant wait to see finished, so many unusual birds being built in this group. Hey ya gotta build the X/YB-35 now that you have teased us with it. Those are some nice boxes you have on your bench too !

Fermis -- the Dog Sabre is seriously beautiful work! I have the same kit in my stash and have always been hesitant about attempting the finish, bit I am now very confident that I can handle it. The used, subtly weathered effect looks so realistic it's breathtaking!

Sherman -- the Bounder is one very impressive piece of work. I am really loving these vintage Russian jobs! Oh, and BUILD THE WING!

Cheers,

Mike

Much appreciated gentlemen. V-man, I have no secret, this kit just fell together, no issues at all. O.K. I've got 1 secret, my crappy camera hides all the flaws!!

Looking forward to seeing the end results Lancair & Sherman. Looking real good so far, very impressive!!!

Happy 4th of July to all, and take a moment to think about all of our soldiers in harms way.

Also M-50 A Bounder update

Sherman1111 Your Bounder is looking like it is coming along very well. Gotta tell you though, that M-50 Bounder just reeks of speed, looks like a missile with wings attached. Maybe thats what the M really means Big Smile [:D].

Wishing a safe and happy 4th to all, especially our service members, both past and present.

The Soviets only made 2 of the M-50s, with a top speed of 1200 mph and a payload of 66000 lbs. There was one small bombbay centerline on the aircraft with no other armment for defence.

As with all Soviet the letters in front of the numbers is the manfacuture, in this case Myasishchev design bureau. There isnt much info on this plane out there, but it must of been like flying a rocket, small wings and big engines.

The crew could be loaded by way of lowering the ejection seats on rails under the nose, which was different. And they could eject up or down. The undercarriag is simaler to a b-52, but the front set of wheels could be raised on takeoff to change the angles of the wings.

When I look for a build I like to do the unusaual, and the Soviets sure had a lot of different birds too choose from. This is an Amodel kit and one of the better fitting of parts than normal. With plastic, resin, and fiberglass parts. I am enjoying this build, where as haveing problems with the TU-128, she had to go back again for more putty work. thats why I havent finshed her yet. but I am close.

please excuse my bad spelling......

Back to it, for round 2! This looks like the first summer in many years, that I'm building anything. I LIKE IT!!!

This next one will be Hasegawas 1/48 F-104C, in US Airforce markings, pretty much O-O-B again, except for the pit; true details(?)seat and color PE from Eduard. I think this one will be my most challenging finish yet, 8 different colors to go on the outside! Again I'll be using Metallizer paints, in 4 shades. Nose will be grey with black anti-glare, white wing tops, and a red tail. Hopefully it'll turn out as good as I see it in my head!!!

Fermis Now that one I wanna see Big Smile [:D] I have a Testors F-104 I was gonna do for the group, at the moment its a toss up between that or a NMF P-61B. Hope you can show us a few WIP pictures with this build. Glad to see you are building again.

Man you guys are knocking out builds fasted than I can read the posts. I went looking through the stash and I realised out of a stash of 200 airplane kits I really do'nt have a whole lot of suitable subjects for this GB. The only thing I found was the old Revell P-47 Bubble top. A kit that would definetly need alot of seemwork whick of coarse means alot of possiblilties for missed seams and an ugly finish. I have a couple of other kits that are partial NMF. I have to think about it. I am starting The Regia Aeronautica GB part II but I always like to have two going atthe same time to keep me busy when I do get motivated at the bench. I definetly want to do at least one more for this GB.

Soulcrusher Would love to see another build from you and hope you will do another. Leme tell ya though a bad P-47 is the testors kit, it was my first foil build an well all I can say is I truely came up with some new Censored [censored] phrases. Oh and yeah toothpicks can stick in the wall Big Smile [:D]

Lancair SOOOOWWWEEEEETTTT ! I bet it looks even better in person. So hurry it up with that TLC you are talkin about wanna see it. How many rolls of Reynolds wrap did that take ?

 Real nice Rob!!!

I think if I tried foil, I'd end up puttin it back in the box, and in the back of the stash!

You'll have to bring that to the Kalamazoo contest(Oct.10), along with some others!!!

I was hoping to get something done on the 104 today, but the stars just didn't line up. I did go on it ALL day yesterday. Got the pit done, fuse. closed up, wings and tanks. Once sanded and canopied, she'll be ready for some paint. BUT , will have no time at all until the weekend.

Be careful what you wish for!!!

Here's another example of my post "the powers that be, do have a sense of humor" in the "odds n ends".

I was kinda hoping that band practice would be cancelled tonight, so I could build. Well, last night, my other guitar player wacked a deer, totaled his truck, and has to go truck shopping tonight. (all are O.K.....cept for the deer!) Ah, the price some have to pay, so that I can build my little airplanes.

So, I get in another session, I'll get a pic or up for ya. Not that my work, so far, justifies a pic, but just proof that I'm not taking pics of already built planes !

  Here ya go SHERMAN

Not a lot of progress tonight, the wife decided to take advantage of my free night. I did however manage to get all the paint on, except for the metal(that'll have to wait for the weekend). So heree's a pic.

Hopefully I'll have more to share over the weekend.

WOW !!!! Nice builds to look at and shops too Smile [:)]

Sherman1111 You have a roomy shop there guy, but the one thing that worries me is if you clean it up you wont be able to find anything. Happens to me every time I clean mine.

Fermis I aint sayin nuthin about your shop errrr workspace, other then its really nice lotsa room too.  The only problem I can see is I would need a map to get around in there Big Smile [:D] YOur Starfighter is looking good too, so good infact I may have to put mine off to the 3rd build no way I can follow your work.

Smokinguns3 Hey that looks like a lets go fast jet ! Nice paint job there guy, well done.

I got some work dont on the P-38 this afternoon, did some foil work on the engine cowlings, foiled the intakes and added a buldhead made from pipe screens. I tell ya all those little tiny strips of foil are a pain to work with, but it looks alright so will have to keep going. Heres a picture for ya.

The intakes are hard to see sorry about that.

OK heres a shot of my ummmmm work, trip, gotta go outside to change my mind space.

Good looking builds guys, and neat work areas.

I primered the Bounder and putting decals on the Tu-128 , might post pictures today. I have dr app today and tommorrow, haveing problems with my back healing. My right leg quit working Tuesday for about a minute when I was driving. Scared me pretty good. Think I have a captured nerve in my spine. will see. Also started the flying wing, going to be a joint group build with SAC GB.

more later

Got a little time this am

TU-128 minus canopee, still trying to mask

The Bounder is primed

and here is the X/YB Flying Wing

The TU-128 was a rough build, the parts didnt fit well and lots of gaps. I just got to a point where I had enough and decided enought time spent and moved on. I know it looks rough, but I have another version I may do at a later time.

I'm back from my vacation and have managed to get quite a lot of work done on my B-58.  I have foiled everything except the fuselage underside, well, everything that needs foiling.  Lots of good looking work going on here.

Here's some older photos of my work space, when it was much cleaner than it is right now.

Ok here is my first entry

Amodel's TU-128

I ran into a lot of problems building this kit, fit and the way the kit was designed it was not a good build, plus the fact that I droped it on the floor. But it was an interesting subject, and the only one on the market. The TU-128 was a large fighter, built to get them with in missle range to fire. The Bounder is next

Aggieman Welcome back Smile [:)] and I hope you had a great vacation. After looking at all these shop pictures I have decided I need a bigger shop Sigh [sigh].

Sherman1111 A tough build from what you have said and from the looks of the kit, but I think you did a fine job. Some of those gaps looked like a nightmare, but you pulled it off, and the Alclad paint worked well too. Did you airbrush it or use the rattle can ?

Thanks for the comments, I use 3 different airbrushes:

Passehe, Precision Aire , and a Harborfreight airbrush

Model Master paints

Tamiya paint

Mr. Color

and Alclad 2

Mr. Surfacure

Tamiya putty

and lots of bad laungage language to finish the TU-128.
