Carlos-the elves do indeed do good work.  Can't wait to see what they do for final assembly & paint.  Do they contract out? Big Smile [:D]

You're zipping right along Bob!  FWIW, my vote is for Stardust/Oklahoma Kid. Thumbs Up [tup]

Jim and Alex- Sign - Welcome [#welcome] aboard guys!  Glad to have you both here.

Carlos- Your office and engine are looking very good indeed!

I worked on the Zero yesterday, doing a few mods and cleaning up the wing.  Also painted the deck and installed the cockpit.  Hope to get the wings on in the next few days. Big Smile [:D]

...and the winner is....Bob's Robin.  I really thought about going ahead with the Stardust camo scheme, but I couldn't convince myself that the medium green was a good match for the dark green that the early planes were painted.  Struggled with making the mask to paint the lower engine cowling (Charles will know what I'm talking about) but I got the black painted yesterday.  Futured last night and hope to have decals on later today.

Well since the p-47 is giving me fits I decided to throw another Japanese plane in.

This one is the Hasegawa KI-84

and now the office.

This one I am very happy with. It is painted in Aeromaster colors

Jason-sorry to hear that the P-47 is being difficult.  Don't give up though...take a deep breath, walk away and try again later.....however, you did a great job on your KI-84-very nice build. Fantastic work in the cockpit.

Frank-I had a completed Tamiya Zero that was destroyed by our cat (finally figured out that she was reaching the shelf by jumping on the speakers beside the self)....however, I must have trashed it during the last major clean-up.

edit-I just noticed that Great Models has a Hasegawa Zero on sale-if you have the materials to make a resin copy, this may be an option

http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcart/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=HSG09828

Speaking of something giving you fits, the decals for Bob's Robin (leftover from the Hasegawa P-40E kit) had me thinking about a do-over.  I fought with the mouth decals for quite a while....still not happy with them.  Not sure if I have the angle off or if there is that much difference between the AMTech kit and the newer Hasegawa kit.  However, liberal doses of Solvaset seem to have helped.  I also discovered that I needed to have the engine side cowling in place to attach the mouth decal (which was soaking in water at the time)....but the exhausts aren't done yet!  I tacked them into place with a little rubber cement...should hold until the Solvaset eats thru the film or I score the panel line with a razor.  Hopefully time & Solvaset will takeout the wrinkles.  Also you will notice some frosting....that will go away (I hope) with another coat of Future before applying an oil wash.

Looking very nice Bob.  Are you using the kit exhausts?  I recall Ultracast's exhausts for the P-40 can be put in after the cowling is on.  I think.  Anyway, it's an option if the kit exhausts are going to give you trouble.

Thanks guys.

Arki-no, I'm going to use the kit exhausts.  I'm going to drill them out first, but shouldn't have much trouble taking the cowling off....although the Ultracast exhaust are very nice.

Jay-please do post pics of the P-47....there is a wealth of knowledge in the memebers of this GB...chances are that someone has experienced the same issues you are having.

Jason-great job on the KI-84.

Bob-the p-40 is looking really good.

D@mn you gents on this build can turn out some beautiful aircraft quickly.

I hate being stuck waiting on weather to be able to paint. But I do have a pic of my paint booth. I live in a small Japanese apartment with a 18 month child so I am not allowed to paint in the house even if i went and purchaced a paint booth. Even on the worst weather days.... I still LOVE this daily view.

Keep the great models coming & Kannichiwa,

Jason

Jason, great job on the Ki-84.

One of my favourite Japanese aircraft, and yours is excellent.

Bob, nice progress on the P-40.

I'm sure you'll beat those decals.

Ki-44 Progress at last!!!Big Smile [:D]

Showing just how small this thing is in 1/72...

..either that or I've got huge hands, and my wife will confirm I haven't.Wink [;)]

The NMF has just had a coat of Future as protection.

Tomorrow I'll start on the panel variations.

Jason

Jason-looks like you've made good progress so far.  One question-is the wing glued to the fuselage or is this a dry fit pic?  If it's a dry fit, maybe moving it a bit to the right might help the gap you're refering to.  If it has been glued, then maybe gluing in some thin styrene strip stock will fill most of the gap.  Then just take a x-acto knife and shave down the excess (I wonder why you could'nt use a safety razor?.....hmmmm).  Any remaining gap could be filled in with putty.

Karl-the Ki-44 is impressive.  Then you show how small it is, I'm truly impressed.  My eyesight isn't good enough to work with anything that small.....not to mention my lack of skills....

Thanks all for the encouragement for my P-40.  After Futuring the decals this morning there is some minor wrinkling on the mouth, but I'm hoping that some creative photo shots can minimize that.....

Chalk two up for the completed file.

First we have the DONEtless

And a completed Tony.  Given that I only worked on it for 4 days, I'm calling this one close to my 3-day deadline. Whistling [:-^]

I'm really impressed with the pics you all have put up so far.  Looking very impressive.  I like the way the P-40s are coming out!

As for my builds, I still have the Pete on the bench.  I get scared and run to the corner every time I look at the rigging I still have to do.  I also started Hasegawa's Jill, cockpit pics will follow once things dry.  And I have finished the engine and firewall of the big Avenger and have primer and preshading done on the cockpit.  Okay Okay Okay, I also started an F-104, but my jets were getting lonely and needed some attention.  Besides my wife won't let me buy more until I thin my stash.
