HI all thanks for the commrents on the Mitchell also everyone work here during this build have been awesome to watch come to life.
Progress on the the Mitchell from the last post not much else has happen apart from she has got her shoes now and has been shot in a couple of coats of Klear and left to cure. She should be getting her panel wash today.
@Imabx: It was/will be a bit of both, just a light preshade, then when the light drab went on i just added a few drops of white into what was left in the airbrush and shot the centre on the panels with the lighter shade. With regards to your other question, No all the control surfaces are fixed, I cut them out so i could position them and then used milliput to add the surface area.
This is when the Hellcat starts looking mean....
Well today's decalfest was severely interrupted by the honey-do list.... but I did get all the decals applied to my F6F. I need to go back and fix one of the teeth in the chin scoop, but otherwise am quite happy with the results so far.... here are a few shots.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Metallicus - Love the Mitchell! Did you preshade or post shade your panel lines? Also, are the flaps and ailerons positionable in that kit? Lookin' good!
Stik - Looking forward to the final results on that Hellcat. Such a mean looking bird!

Stikpusher, the repair looks top notch. Well done.
sf_plane_nut, hope the move goes well. If you need any help with the stash just feel free to send them to me! Good luck with the move.

Stik, the Yugumo looks great!! Nice work!!
Thank you Simplepilot. I learned a lot building this kit and plan on delving back in to ships on a regular basis now. I have another in the works currently for another GB.
Julez, we are indeed out own worst critics. Often times I found myself stalled thinking of a better way to do things rather than just going with what I know.
Silvo, your diorama is superb! A first class job!
Speaking of own worst critics, after months of contemplating how to fix a broken off tail antenna mast, today I got off my fourth point of contact while contemplating methods and did it. I measured, filed some sprue to shape, drilled an attachment point, the glued it on with the heavy duty weld stuff. After it had dried, I sanded it smooth. All told about 30-40 minutes worth of work. Then a quick touch up with my new airbrush (Did I mention I LOVE my new airbrush and the tight lines it can do?) to repair the blemishes and touch up old overspray and Voilà, on the roll again. Tomorrow is Decal Fest as I have two kits that will be going thru that process. As of now, My Hellcat is back in the game.
Sliva, Nice dio. The Chi-Ha paint work looks great. Nice weathering.
Metallicus, Looking forward to seeing the Mitchell progress. A very cool subject!
Sim, wouldn't be nice being on the wrong end of a strafing run
I keep eyeing off the Italeri 48 Mitchell at the LHS......oneday..
Love the work guys.....outstanding....
Metal she is looking good mate!!!!! I have always loved the B-25, just something about it. Not the fastest or most maneouverable but to me had class and appeal!!!! Not to mention on the solid nose J's with cheek packs, not many planes can boast a 14 gun salute!!!!!!
Close but the pic I have is bit closer to it's demise and a bit more...how would you say? Whole.
Thanks for the kudos Sim..and everyone, Model On!!

some updates on my Mitchell, getting there almost done
Apologies for poor pic quality used my phone to take and upload the pictures
Nice dio Silvo!!! Great work!!!! Was this the type of wreck you mention? This was a Chi-Ha that is on Guam when I was there in 89-90.
Never be ashamed to show off your work. It's a hobby and the more we share the more we learn. That being said, Thanks Man! Always love the compliments!
WOW! I think I may like this diorama even more than the other you posted over on the diorama forum.
I've been trying to get my diorama done but dang, I'm almost ashamed to post mine now...

A little something to share...
I got the idea from Dave harpers book, "Armor on Iwo Jima". I then just extrapolated on the idea of a wrecked "Chi-Ha".
The tank is from Fine molds, the figures are modified from Dragon.
I hand painted the camo on the tank, using Tamiya acryilics, then oil pin washes, then a heavy duty layer of MIG pigments.
I hope you enjoy.
Thanks.
I'll throw my hat in the ring....I have something that might be good for this build that I recently finished.
Talk to you later.
Julez72 We are our own worst critics right.....
Thanks fellas for the kind words I'm happy with Mrs bonnie, not so much with the P-40 but maybe you guys are right.....We are our own worst critics right.....
Stikpusher, the Yugumo looks great!
Julez, great work on Ms. Bonnie. Not sure what you don't like on your P-40. She looks like a winner to me.
Checking in on the PTO, and WOW! Some great stuff.
Freddie, that's a nice collection of aircraft. The Avenger you say is an awesome kit, well, you've done an awesome job on it. It looks great.
Stikpusher, Nice to see naval subjects and you've done a nice job, thanks for including a little historical background on the subject.
Julez, Outstanding finish on the Mustang, Really like the paint work. What do you mean refinish the P'40, Looks pretty good to me.
Thanks for the kind words gents
Julez
Sweet looking Pony......keep up the great work!!!!!
Carlos
Careful Julez, ships can be addicting I have found. And thank you. Those two birds look great, I really love the finish on the P-40. The Mustang looks gorgeous too! excellent work!
Stik, Nice ship build buddy Hopefully oneday i'll find the urge to do a couple of ships but until then i'll just enjoy everyone else's builds.....
Finished pics.........
This was my first build for the GB, I made a lot of mistakes but it was the first build i did in 2 and a half years so i guess my expectations were a little high...I'm still not happy with it so i reckon i'll strip it and start over.....
Freddie, those planes are gorgeous!
Well, I will share a kit here that I recently completed. She was made for my Guadalcanal GB, but certainly fits in here as well. It is an old Tamiya kit, a 1/300 scale Yugumo.. She was commissioned shortly after Pearl Harbor and joined the First Carrier Striking force for much of her short life. She screened Hiryu at Midway, and later participated in Eastern Solomons and Santa Cruz as well. She participated in the Nov 13/14 Naval battle of Guadalcanal. She continued service in the Solomons after helping with the Evacuation of Guadalcanal and was eventually sunk in the Battle of VellaLavella in October 1943.
Freddie: that's some sharp work!
Julez72 So gents i've just glued the last parts on my Mustang and i'm calling it finished....Pics tomorrow when i have some sunlight
