Hey Darson....now that I have completed my Raiden I am officially retiring form the Pacific GB,,,,I want to thank you for a great GB...now its time move over to your Battle of Britain. GB...I got a bone to pick with a certain turtle...

Wonder who he's talking about??? (Quickly hides)

Stu, the guys are right, there are several guys in our club with babies/toddlers that find they need something to get away for a little while from fatherhood. And plastic kits are tough, even if you don't have time now just shove 'em in the closet or the basement/cellar, garage, whatever. As long as it's not say a hot attic they'll be fine. You might want to take the decals out if the box might get wet of course.

And by the way CONGRADS!!!

Hey Stu

First of all congratulations!!!!! and yes..babies love beerWhistling....

no need to leave the hobby all together.....trust me you are going to need some "you" time...usually late night to relax and wind down...you might have to move to the basement or a small corner but try and keep building even if its one or two year...its good for the mind.

Good Luck

Carlos

DittoDitto Couldn't agree more Carlos.

Stu you won't get much at all done for a while but once things settle down you will definatley need some time in the "Man Cave".

Hey all. Great work! I'm sorry for my absence. I found out last month I have a little one on the way so it's time to say goodbye to the man cave and hello to a nursery. I have the Hase Jill finished, though two sprues, including my clear tree, vanished leaving the navigation lights and antenna in limbo somewhere. This is going to be it. The Big Avenger is no where near completion and won't be by the time everything is boxed up. I'm finishing off a couple of quick builds of P-51s, P-47s, and a P-40 but sadly I'll be replacing the kits on my shelves with bunnies and bears and beer signs. Kids like beer signs right? Good luck to all. I'll check back in about 18-20 years..... P.S. I'll be looking to move some of the kits out of my closet to make room for *ugh* diapers, so if you guys are looking for a few freebies, send me a PM. The selection's kinda limited but I'd rather them be in someone's modeling hands than collecting dust in a storage unit.

Hey Carlos, The Elves did a great job refinishing the Jack. The weathering looks fantastic! Well done and worth the effort.

Looking good Carlos, I agree with the weathering comments, looks just right. Jack is a fairly small plane isn't he?

I've started into the cockpits of my pair of builds for this group, 1/72 Academy Zero & 1/72 Dragon Tony. The Tony had acceptable moulded-in seatbelts & also came with etched brass versions. Since that would involve carving out the existing belts, I donated them to the Zero, which had no belts. The etched brass fret on the Tony also included slats for the radiator, brake lines and the support (?) behind the pilots head - but that support when folded up was far too tall. I don't really have proper tools for cutting brass, so I ended up using the plastic option there. Pics when the cockpits start forming up.

Carlos, looks great man! IMHO a lot of people overdo the weathering on Japanese aircraft, yours looks perfect!

Well the elves did it.......they got Jack all dressed up and ready for battle.....actually looks like its taken a few hits already!!!

After the stripping down to the plastic I repainted and used the underside grey as primer for the yellow that gave me so much problem before....the yellow went down like a charm...then the green. I didnt want to over do the weathering....some light chipping and staining....

About the markings...well it should have a white fuselage band but I'm claiming artistic discretion, mainly because I didnt want to struggle with another light color!!Angry

Overall I liked the kit went together real nice....I goofed a couple of things but as we all know thats par for the course!!!

Enjoy and as always the elves welcome all comments!!!!

thanks for the wellwishing on the knee...and for the work i have been doing as well...most of you are responsible for it in some way or another...i am officially off the crutches today...almost 5 1/2 weeks...i will keep the cane around but dude said i can go free if i want...just keep it nice and even paced...nothing crazy yet...

on a different note...i picked up some Tamiya clear green/yellow/blue and red today for the formation lights under the wing and the wing tips on the corsair...the question is what color should be underneath it to get the look of it being an actual light?...and what about the clear landing light under the wing that fits into the wing...should it just be clear or should there be some color under there?...maybe silver?...i cant come up with a good color photo of it anywhere.....thanks in advance for any tips...

Dave, that Corsair is coming along beautifully.

The knee, not so beautiful, but at least functional!

Kermit, great job on the Wildcat.

I've always loved the stubby lines of the lil' Grumman, and your's is spot on.

that F-4 trop is going in my build stash....for some reason photobucket was giving me a hard time for a while now but i got it all straightened out now...

went with a black primer...i can see all my mistakes way better now!...

finally just glued the engine in so i would stop hemming and hawing about using the resin one...

had some work to do around here...made myself some more with my first scribing attempt...i have a better handle on it now and will try again once i get it cleaned up...

this join around here was fun to touch up...one more shot of black and it will be gone...

got the gear dirtied up to my liking...

i actually remembered not to glue the back half where the control surfaces would have moved...

Your knee looks sore and painful......

Kermit:...the cat is looking good!...need to build one myself eventually...

Julez:...the P-40 is looking good as well...

i have gotten some work done over here....finally got the cockpit installed along with the IP...sealed it up but dont have any current pictures of it yet...maybe later....been seeing what i can do to mess up my first attempt at rescribing some lines around the office...

didnt really match the dirtiness of the wheel well to the gear so i redid them....pics of that later as well...

decided to just use the kit engine as i put so much time into it....i think i can use the resin one on a later F4U-1A build...

picked up a bunch of kits today from some dude off craigslist....$250 for 66 kits...about half are 1/48 hase/tamiya 109's and 190's and the rest 1/72 the same...nice little score....

knee is doing well...doing my PT and moving around much better...should be off the crutch and on to the cane this week...

thats what i got for now...

NIce Kermit...add another Cat to the fence,,,,MEOW!!!!

Well I got Jack all decaled and have started to do some light weathering...down the homestretch!

Hey, I thought I heard a MEOW!! over here, Carsanab stirring up trouble again no doubt! Confused

Just finished up with my Tamiya Storch for the Winter Warriors / Eye in the Sky group builds, so I'll be checking in here more often & should start on my pair of Jap birds fairly soon. I wonder if the in-laws would notice if I bring my kits along for the Easter weekend...

There's a bunch of good looking gear in here already, I'll need to scroll through the thread to get caught up. Talk to you soon folks,

Vance
