so i'm totally delighted that u like it.
i still have a long way 2 go 2 match the skills i see around here on a daily basis, but i feel happy 2 b 'on the way', so 2 speak !

this is the italeri m4 kit in 1/72 being converted 2 an m32b1.
if i built in 1/35, there's an actual m32 kit in the italeri range, but that would kind of take some of the fun out of this build 4 me.
i really wanted 2 see if i could do such an involved project in 1/72 scale.
u should see how tiny some of the scratchbuilt parts r ...
no breathing allowed during assembly !

Derek - sometimes, for reasons unknown, it takes a couple of refreshes and a restart or twelve to come through ..... don't ask me why. For others it's there instantly.

Frosty I am impressed. The detail you have put in such a little space is outstanding.

Thanks every one, I didnt copy the tnak form a photo, I am goin to put it into a diorama so the people are there until the rest of it is complete. The onlything i want to do with it is put some snow/mud on the tracks since it will be on a snowy road, any suggestions?

Awasoda I like the white wash and weathering of the boggies gives it a nice dirty look.

use the method I did. spray some hairspray on and then sprinkle baking soda.

The bogie is a suspension unit .. you have six of them on a Sherman.

Thanks...i feel soo embarased. Abrams I used the hair spray on a lesser model first that had powders on it, I am scared that it will ruin the weathering on the sherman. Is there a way to seal the stuff without making it to a disapearing act.

Spraying anything after you have pastels on the vehicle will diminish the look of them. Some modellers will put a heavier amount of pastels on before spraying, or just spray a very fine mist.

If your tank has been moving, there would be little or no snow on the suspension. Mud on the other hand would be present. There are many methods that can be used.
Here's the one that I use frequently.
Mix modeller's putty with a little brown paint, a course material of some form (some use coffee grounds) I use model railway ballast, toss in a little bit of hair clippings (very short), and stir it all together. Press it into the suspension and when dry, dry brush it and apply pastels to bring it closer to the same colour as the rest of the weathering.

the radial engine, diamond plate flooring & the transmission housing (as well as a drive shaft u can't see under the floor) came with the kit.
everything else inside is scratchbuilt from styrene sheet, strip, rod, & tube.
& i spend a lot of time down on the floor looking 4 tiny little parts... LOL !

Awasoda - it might, try a little bit on something other than your model and see how it works.

Frosty - no blushing necessary ..... some major fine work happening on your workbench, your talent is showing through.

Probobly not Awasoda. Nothing for the plaster to adhere to. Plaster has to have a lathe or tooth to adhere to. There is no adhesive in it so it can only adhere to itself.

As for overspraying the pastels....? why? You don't plan on handling your model do you? For the amount that they get handled the pastels can be left alone. If you see some wear as a result of handling, just do a touch up.

What other thing could i use besides the modeler puty, and if there isnt is there a brand name or something more specific than jsut modelling puty

Frosty nice job! My eyes hurt jsut looking at it, not to mention half the dtail would be on carious places on the floor

Celuclay.

A little diluted squadron putty.

If you wanted to try it you could try mixing the plaster with a little celuclay or static grass and that might act as a binder that would help the plaster adhere to the tracks. Mix the plaster up with some white glue and take a tooth brush and flick the plaster up into the track area. In retrospect I rememebered years ago that i used plaster and once it dried I brushed it with diluted white glue. This helped it to adhere.
The plaster by itself won't work on the hull area unless there is some sort of tooth ot something for it to attach to, but in the track or up in around the sprockets and wheels it might find a purchase.

Spackle or wall filler works well.

Drywall compound.

A mix of very fine dirt dust and diluted white glue works well.

Liquitex makes a product called modeling compound that is used for giving acrylic paints the feel of heavy oil paint for doing spatula technique or paint knife techniques on canvas. Works well.

Gesso or modeling paste. Its white but it can be colored with acylic paint. You can mix dirt and static grass in with it for good mud effects.
