I'm excited and am starting to line up supplies. I haven't  figured out a schedule yet, but with two kits I'll be busy the whole time.

 Here is what I am doing !  Yep  Sometimes you must face your demons!  I have always wanted to build a 1/48 Scale Tamiya Landcaster since I was a wee lad!  Never could find or afford one but now I have had a few in my stash for too long and still haven't built one!  The time has come!

No WAY!! I cant believe your going to do that in a weekend. You realise its 1 weekend? Not 52?

Aaron-you go guy!  Gonna be a challenge, but I think that you can do it in a weekend.  Of course, I'm going to be buying some coffee bean futures 'cause you're not going to have any time to sleep....

 I know it looks like I am either showing off or talking big time poopies!  Here is the truth about this particular kit that makes it a perfect weekender I think.

 This is the Motorized version with the advertised  ( prop action) Motors and wires included looks like a very simple set up to plug everything in.

 No radial engines to wire and this is the only kit that if you look has all the glass framing on all the clear parts pre-painted and very nicely. Heck that saves a whole day right there. Just have to use the Tamiya paints to get a color match.

 Parts count isn't that high. Heck only 1 bomb and 1 turret and it is an older Tamiya molding with great fitting parts.

  Aftermarket parts like bomb-bays and flaps would be counter productive to the motorization function as this seems designed for simplicity so straight OOB I am figuring it should be comparable to any other build ( just bigger)

 My Goal is to make it look just like the box pics so I figure one day to build and another to paint!  Piece of cake! I may even have time to do something else?

Mac, you sure are ambitious! I wanna see if a Lanc can be built in that time. Reminds me of Christmas day builds of big Monogram kits (B-52, C-47, B-24...)

 I am gonna work outside my normal area and tackle a 1/350 sub. A Soviet Alpha or November class. Most of the challenge will be for the finish rather than the build. But then my wife went and signed me up for a Boy scout outing with my son that weeeknd so my 48 hours will be split. First part starting on Friday the 13th, and the remainder starting on Sunday the 15th.

Well Aaron, wish you luck on your build big guy!!!  IfI wasn't going to be busy withmy own build I'd make a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the show.

Speaking of my build...  looks like I have my work cut out for me too.  Yes, I am still building the Shinden but I am going to be at a bit of a disadvantage.

Broke my little pinky yesterday playing basketball of all things.    Snapped it right above the knuckle.  I seriously thought the ball had gone flat for a second there cause my finger SHOULD have been about 2" into it...  Oh well.  I still have three fingers on that hand to hold plastic parts.  No problemo senior! 

Dave-   At our age, you gotta be careful!  Bummer about the finger, perhaps you will need to find yourself a really easy build like a 1/48 Pegasus V-2.

Now why exactly was a Canadian playing basketball? Isn't it supposed to be hockey? Hope the finger heals quickly and at least the soreness passes by the GB!  Ouch!

 lewbud and Bob shall be remembered as true supporters. Heck they will probably name a bra in their honor!  The rest of ye shall have to watch and wonder! Including me!

 I think it will be a fun challenge!  Capt Bondo has given me a special vitamin suppliment to take with me rum so I's can have a little pep or a pick me up as he says! Something called levitracealisenzytican! Of his own invention!

I sure hope it works! This fellow seems ready to build!

I'll have you know that Basketball was invented by a Canadian eh!  I have had more injuries from Baketball than a`ll the other sports combined.  At least hockey usually only involves a few stitches and you're off and running again. 

I'll pass on whatever he's having.  People will run away in fear if I ever smiled like that.

ONE WEEK TO GO!!!

I hope everyone has there battle plans drawn up and ready to go! 

Dupes, I'm starting with the Future dip, and priming the parts while on the sprues, Friday night. Plus I have an ejection seat to scratch up. We're going out Saturday night. So my goal Saturday is to get the airframes stuck together, puttied and sanded. Paint when I get home, before bedtime. Sunday stick all the gear and props and stuff together.

I'm a little worried it will be raining, which will really impede painting.

 Dupes-I'm trying to do the same....make a timeline so I will know when I've fallen behind...and I will....  I'm building a car model (but I'm not sure which one yet) so there are some differences from a plane or armour model.  Also, I have some "outside activities" scheduled over the weekend, so I've got to plan on having work done prior to those times and hopefully use the downtime as paint curing time. I'm not terribly optimistic on getting finished in a 48hr window, but if I can get a kit finished within a week, I'll consider it a win.

(in best Tom Hanks voice)  "Are you SLEEPING?!!!!!"  "There's no SLEEPING in the Weekend  Group Build!!!!!"  Seriously, I don't see why you couldn't have it put together and puttied by the end of the first night.  That leaves sanding, primering and painting for the second, decalling and flatcoat (if you so desire, but IIRC Sea Harriers are a fairly shiny bird) for the end.

Guys, I though Sarge was gonna be the over the top builder but then I saw the good Captain Bondo is attempting a Mach One flashfest in 48 hrs.  Godspeed and good luck to both of you.  May try to wrap up last year's build by finishing the Buffalo as well.

I'll be starting with the sub-assemblies, then into the spray booth and give it all a primary coat of (whatever colour I will be using... still havn't decided on camo scheme). While that is drying I will be working on the track runs. Once the tracks are assembled (in two parts) they can sit aside and dry. Then it's back to the superstructure assembly, then back into the booth for an all over coat of primary colour on everything, (hoping that any filling that has been done is dry enough to smooth out), and apply the camo scheme. If i can get the rubber on the road wheels painted by Friday night I'll consider myself on schedule... thats the plan so far.
