ME-262: Reich Defender II 10/09-7/10

Man that stinks Fred. I think we have all done similar things. Everytime you use the airbrush it takes a good amount of time to clean it properly so we try to cut corners sometimes. Best to walk away and go at it agian tomorrow. Being agravated while you are building never works out good.

I touched up my lightgreen top color and got the demarkation line nice and clean without loosing my preshading. Tonight its time for alot of small dunklegrun spots. I think I am going to do it in stages to keep my hand from cramping up. Agian sorry no pics till I get my camera back this weekend.

dupes- LOL, must be that good vibe I was sending your way!  Glad to see you here, I added your Trumpeter kit to the roster, hoping it's a go!

Mo- You're right about that, it really does look like some strange launch pad.  Caan you imagine if they had taken a 262, added V-2 rocket motors, and launched that baby?  Man, what a ride!

Crusher- Great info on the MM bottles!  I shall file that tidbit away in case it comes up again.  Or, I shall just remember to send people your way when it comes up again.

Fred- Sorry to hear about the setback.  I had one too on the little 262.  After all of the painting and masking and Future coats, I decided that the contrast wasn't enough between the two colors on the wings after blending them.  So, I had to mask off the dark brown and redo the green last night.  Tonight, I masked off the green and touched up the dark brown.  Just gave it all a coat of Future a few minutes ago, hope to start the decals tomorrow.

A little bit of good news to report, my Aires cockpit and wheel bay set arrived yesterday having been ordered online while I was under the influence of the demon drink, so at last construction can commence .  First step will be to very gently give the resin a wash in some warm soapy water tonite to remove any release agent.

Thanks guys .  Right now, there are no other german birds in the stash, so I'll have to peruse the instruction sheet looking for parts to be painted RLM 02. 

I probably won't get around to firing up the compressor until sunday, so maybe I'll skip a few steps and start work on those engines.

I added the decals to the lil' 262 today, all 30 of them!

I also masked and painted the tires.  Thank goodness for that punch and die set to cut the tiny circle masks.

Fred- Really nice work on that gun bay.

Jason- More great detail work, love it!

Frank- I can't believe you're doing 1/144 and making it look that good!

I layed down a coat of Future on my 262 and I am waiting for it to dry right now. Tomorrow decals! Still waiting on the return of my camera so I can post some pics. I am guessing it will proball be a bout the same time I finish her up.

Staggering, Frank -- I lift my magnifying specs to you, sir! I would never credit that something so tiny would look so good!

I'm hoping to get back to mine shortly, the canopy is finally attached and I can do the express masks in the next session. I've been concentrating on 1000 Roadwheels and Achtraden recently, and have five models to finish before the end of the year, not counting the 262! Good thing this build goes til the end of March!

I am hoping to get my build painted today but this is what's going on in the Houston, Texas area today:

These are a couple of shots from my back yard.  It's quite cold here, really too cold to work in the garage which is where my work shop is.

Charles, everyone is safe here.

My daughter loved it.  My son, not so much.  My daughter was catching snow flakes with her tongue.  We built a snow man - my first attempt, not very big and not very convincing.  Looked more like a penguin without the beak.

This area shuts down whenever it ices or snows I guess because we aren't accustomed to this kind of weather.  It's the earliest recorded snowfall in Houston in history.

I will be gone the rest of this month till after New Years due to my fathers passing. He passed away in his sleep from conditions caused by his cancer. I am rushing to get tickets home. Unfortonatly all my modeling supplies and kits will be left here in Japan and I will not be able to resume until early January.

My 1/48 262 was coming along... was almost ready for primer. I hope to have this finished before the group build ends.

Man am I glad I don't live in Houston!  Looks cold there! You shoulda seen all the traffic accidents on the way home from work this morning!  The  Dew set in aboyt 4-5AM and the bridges all got a good glazing of black ice.  It was worse than the time  Frank and Bondo hijacked the carnival bumper cars cuz the clover leaf ramps and such were literally littered with smashed cars, ambulances and flying debries like bumpers and fenders.    I was glad I made it home without incident!  Many roads were closed.

 Jason keep the good memories and let the rest run the course. Your father will be missed.

 The mini 262 is astonishing!

 Hmmm what else !  Love the Gun compartments and little additions you fellows did!  Really adds to it. The Gun Barrels don't show through the front ports at all though? I thought maybe they would be seen there.
