Yes it is a Los Angeles Class. It is a "Flight I" boat with sail mounted dive planes and no VLS. I think Dragon got the idea of Dallas/Alfa from the book and movie of Hunt for Red October.

The next Los Angeles class that I will be building is gonna be a "Flight II" boat, USS Chicago of Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising fame.

Well here is how my Battle of the Atlantic 1980s style is shaping up...

Akula, Dallas, Torbay, Alfa, Kilo...

Well I built another 1/350 sub and have it ready for painting. So my stalled sub builds will have another one to join them and get the builds and painting rolling again.

Here solo and with my previously built (but not yet painted) USS Dallas, is the new Airfix 1/350 Trafalgar class SSN which I will be completing as HMS Torbay.

Yeah Richard i've been doing alot of thinking about this build, i was going to throw a whole heap of Eduard in it but having studied the parts/instructions it's plainly obvious that very little will be seen once the model is finished so i've decided to concentrate on the pit and gun turrets and leave out most of the parts in the radio room and fueselage....I will be adding some flak damage to the wing and tail though...BTW it a great kit..

Thanks,

Thats the old Testers/Italeri kit in 1/72.  I built that back in the early 80s and is one of the few that have survived being packed up by my mother and sister 15 years ago when I got married.

68GT,

Maybe a bit late on my part (sorry bout that) but i just went over your gorgeous pictures again and i must say that the C47 is looking very good indeed!Yes. I take it it is 1:72? What brand/ kit was it?

Well i've accidentaly started the interior paintwork on the Wellington, decided to throw together another Mustang for NMF GB to kill this slump and mixed up way to much interior green so the Welly has it's interior base coat on....

Man thats one Huge looking aircraft you have there...looks like a winner to meYes

Its 1/72 scale and not all that big.  Just think of a fisherman holding his catch out away from his body at arms length for a photo.  Then he holds the same fish close to his body for a photo.

Julez,

Thanks my friend! By all means go ahead with that wellington. I see too little of those lately...

Ok,... brace yourself....

Tadaaa:Big Smile

My first waterbased diorama (and second dio ever)! And boy was it fun to do. Definately will use this technique in the future. With thanks to the japanese modeler who posted his work over at IPMS stockholmWink

Couldn't help myself and did some photoshopping tooGeeked:

Due to the fact that i have no thread or wire that was accurate to scale i ommited the antennae wires. Once i can get someone with longer hair to part with some of them ill leave it like thatSmile.

Thank you for following this build. Hope you had as much fun watching as it was for me building it

Richard, Thats awesome.......Love itBow DownYes Your making me wanna grab that Flower and stick it on a water base....Maybe next year....I'd like to do the Titanic sinking as well, with the 1/350 minicraft kit...I have patience issues with models so big ones are normaly taboo for me, i'm hopeing to break that trend with the Wellington for this GB.....

Julez,

Oh i know where youre coming from regarding the flower class... Makes me drewl and froth at the mouth a bit lol. Definately will try to get one in the future. It just takes up alot of space and ive also got a gato in my stash to build.... So probably distant futureWink

Eatthis,

Your Nimrod is coming along nicely! Keep them pics coming.

As for myself i've been busy on painting my diorama today and am starting to reach the point where i am very happy with the paintwork i've done:

After the primer dried overnight i started out with dark gloss blue, lighter shades of gloss blue, a hint of emerald green and gloss white for the wave crests. After that dried for a bit i went over the whole lot with very light blue and white drybrushing. Topped it all off with a generous coat of future and voilaBig Smile

After securing the submarine to the diorama base i will add the cables and place the whole lot in it's frame.

Julez,

That is a fine submarine there! Did you ude preshading on it? I like the subtleness of the effect your weathering technique had. I did build the U99 kit too and remember having a blast with itBig Smile It might not be the youngest kit outthere but it still kicks *ssWink Well done on a fine modelYes

Eatthis,

Looks like you will be busy for awhile with all those builds going onWink Like your taste though. What brand of 1/32 spit is that?

N E ways....

Been a bit under the weather the past few days and tried to work on my projects as much as i could whenever i had the energy... Like the afforementioned websites explained i modeled bowwaves with modeling clay and filled in the foamy bits inbetween with ordinary putty. I think i can start thinking about priming the whole lot and paint itSmile

http://i756.photobucket.com/albums/xx202/kermit77/1-350th_VIIC/DSCN1495.jpg

Being busy with the clay and putty getting your hands dirty like that really takes you back to your childhood LOL. Having lotsa fun with this one... Thanks for peeking.

Richard

its revell iv made some progress on it and the 1/32 tomcat and the 1/72 concorde lol

Richard, Yeah buddy i did preshade that one and used post shading with pastels...I built it before i started useing oils to weather and i'd love to have another crack at it now....But your right it's a good one for an oldie and it was a fun build....I did the 1/72 S-boat at the same time, so far my only foray into floaty things....I tell ya one thing though, that frikkin Flower class corvette at the LHS keeps calling to me and Great little Ships do a whole heap of upgrade sets for it...
