Wel fellas I finally have something to show as progress on the Do-24. I have built all the main assemblies wings etc and started the very tedious task of masking the turrets. What a pain it is in 1/72 scale and there is a lot of framework that is typical of German aircraft. I have also cut off the rudders and elevators and ffset them to give it a better and more interesting pose.

Tonight I hope to paint the main colour on the fuselage so I can install all the small windows and that should cut down on a lot of masking later when the fuselage is together

Steve--Gamera--Jeremy

Thanks for the compliments.  You have given me a lift after a tough day at work.  Big Smile  After "Black 7"  I am ready to move back to the RD III GB an tackle "Yellow 10", a D-13 with a very elaborate camo scheme.

Darren

Many thanks for hosting this GB.    I plan to be back.  I have always like the D0-17.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a good kit.  Scale doesn't matter but would prefer recessed panel lines.

Clebode: I think I complemented your Bf-109 while in progress but wow, the finished results are even more than the sum of the parts! Kudos!

Coach C--Spike--Darren--B-17--Richie

Thanks for the comments.  They were much appreciated.

Eatthis

The camo was quite a challenge.  I had to strip the first wo tries.  Ultimately, the camo was applied freehand with the AB.  Very thin paint-very low pressure.  Even then, some areas were too dark so I misted and feathered with the RLM 65 to get the fuzzy, field applied look I was seeking.

Hugh you did a fine job on a tough camo scheme. The cockpit came out nice also. She looks like a winner to me.

Mobious--Thanks for your support.  Since you commented on the pit, here is a close up.  It did turn out nicely I think.

Since this was a raised panel line kit, I deliberately went easy on the weathering.  No tar lines here.

Hugh, that camo is tops mate!! I have found that treating raised lines the same as recessed ones makes no difference unless you get a magnifying glass. Just make them enhanced not really pop. Sort of camouflage or disguise them rather than draw attention to them if you will. Just don't make it look like a tar stripped tarmac whatever you do. HTHYes

Thanks Coach.  This was a much easier build than the Ta152.  I think this is an older kit.  There was a lot of flash and I was shocked that it presented with raised panel lines.  Notwithstanding, the fit was very good especially at the wing roots.  Going to experiment with how to pop the raised detail.  I don't really want to try post shading with the AB yet.  I am going to work with washes and powders.

Close to the end here.  Camo and "stickers" are on.  Painting the Xs was more difficult than I expected but the result is satisfactory.  Will work on the LG and drop tank this weekend.

Wabash---Excellent work.  I considered building the plane you built.  I liked the nationality flags a lot.  I'm glad I didn't.  I wouldn't want mine to be compared to your beauty.
