Damon - Your cockpit looks amazing!!! Yes  I hate working with PE with a special kind of hatred! Big Smile  You get extra props from me for doing so much in such a small scale! Bow Down

Hun - For number 3 & 4, I think you're doing rather well! Toast  Keep practicing and every build will get better and better. I like your little bases too. The walnut should look good.

I just completed these, the 109 is a G so too late. The Spitfire is a Mk II is BoB camo and decals. Posted them in the aircraft forum as well, they're my first models with an airbrush and only the 3rd and 4th overall, just cheap Revell kits. The antenna and extra bits are on now, just don't have updated photos. Also made some new bases out of walnut today, the stain is drying.

There are some that call me... Nash

Clebode: Ouch! I suppose someone probably makes an aftermarket cockpit for the DO-17 if you want to take the slightly easier way out. Scratchbuilding it would be a great deal of work but will look great if you go that route. Cool

Damon: Looks like almost all of the cockpit is PE. If so you're a braver man than me. Wow, great stuff!

Hey! everyone I hope you all remember me I did the Airfix Avro Anson early in the build. Well I finished up another GB and am back. I commited to build a Fairey Fulmar and that is what I will do. Also the Anson looks lonely on the shelf. The kit interior is bad I ordered a Airwaves PE set for another manufacture's Fulmar and have most of it done and would like to post some pics before I paint it. I had to grind most of the lower cockpit away to get it in place but I think it will look good. PE is not my favorite thing to assemble. Airwaves give's you extra small pieces for when you try and pick them up and it is like playing tiddly winks and the parts fly's somewhere. Only to find it after the anual cleaning of the workbench. Big Smile

All--The Tasuda Do 17 Z 2 arrived today.  It is a very basic kit that will require a lot of work to be presentable.  I have located aftermarket engines that are a huge upgrade but I cannot find any other upgrades so far.  I have never scratch built a cockpit and with the big greenhouse on this bird an upgraded interior would be a huge plus.  Finally, the MGs provided are hideous.     Does anyone know a source for 1:72 MGs?

Gamera---Below is the link to the Tsukuda offering on Ebay.  It looks to be identical to a Revelle kit offered for $39 on the same page,

Mike: yet another great looking Bf-109. You may not be happy with it but she looks like a winner to meYes!

Clebode: Tsukuda??? There's a Japanese company by that name that has done a fairly extensive line of vinyl 'garage kits' of Godzilla and various other giant Japanese monsters. I have a few of their kits. If this is the same company I didn't know they did aircraft even as knock-offs of other people's products.

Mike -- a gorgeous build in every way. She looks like you could climb in and fly away, and that's the core of visual believability!

Fantastic work! Bow Down

John---Thanks for the insight on the Tsukuda.  If you know, are these quality kits?  I've never heard of Tsukuda.

Darren---Please add a Do-17 Z-2 to the roster and show my Bf 109 E-4 as finished.  Thanks.

Great work Mike!!! I love the camo. Yes  I can't believe you pulled that off in 1/72!

The insulators may be a tad large but I like the way they look. How did you make them?

Don't believe it, it's the Eduard 1/32 Emil! Smile Burger

For the insulators I took some round plastic stock and filed it down to a point and then drilled it out.  The problem is uou have to have something big enough that you can drill out.

OK guys, calling her done.  Overall not too bad, I should have paid closer atttention to my fit at the wing roots, not real happy with it.  My first attempt at replicating the ceramic insulators on the aerial was a bust too, way too big.  The wheels are True Details which are too small so maybe that balances everything out.  This is a great kit, next time I'll know what to look for on the fit issues and it should come out a little better.  I had planned on some 1/72 projects for this GB but my eyes are just getting too bad to work in that scale any more.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. So far this kit is going together very well with no major fit issues or headaches. The masking is a pain though but gona be worth it in the end

All--I found two Do-17 Z-2 kits on Ebay that appear appropriate for a second build here.  Both are 1:72.  The box art is identical.  One is labeled Revelle and the other Tsukuda.  The seller wants $20 more fore the Revelle.  Any insights?

Almost certainly the Tsukuda is the Revell kit.

Steve--I am going to follow your work with interest.  I think the choice of the Do-24 is very interesting.
