I'm envious, GM. I really want one of those large Nutrockers! I doubt that I'll ever get one. I started off replacing some of the molded on detail, but when I saw some of the pictures from the larger version, I've been adding more.
I've been working steadily, but slowly. I've been having trouble with getting good close-up pictures with my camera, otherwise I'd have posted earlier.
I glued the rear of the bottom hull first, since it fir best, and let it dry. You can see that it takes a lot of pressure to get the rest of the bottom hull to mate with the top. I still had to do some putty work to hide some gaps.
I made a light bulb for the search light from some clear parts tree. I didn't much like the thickness of the searchlight wall, so I used the motor tool to grind it out.
You can see the bulb in place, and some silver paint as the reflector.
I replaced a doo-dad on the laser cannon with another piece of clear parts tree.
I finished making the socket to hold the laser cannon to the turret. I whipped up some gizmos to represent the search light motor.
Here are some close up shots. Both the radar dish and antenna are movable. The dish is just sitting in a hole, so don't turn the Nutrocker over.
A little copper wire replaced the radar dish power cable and some styrene tabs for hold downs.
A little copper wire super-glued to a piece of shaped styrene rod makes the whip antenna spring. The small access door on the side had the hinges only on the door. I scraped them off and created new hinges on the hull. The small "bolts" all over the hull are made from syringe tubing.
I replaced some of the molded on detail with stretched sprue, styrene rod and copper wire.
It's about ready for paint now, unless you guys can think of anything else for me to add.
I want to make a vignette, so I've been putting some polyurethane on a hunk of wood to get it ready for ground work.
See ya,
