From the pic and his description, it looks like Harshman's building the VF-1J.

Looks like you'll be done before the official start date!  Are you going to add something else later?

It's all good Harshman, even when you watch the shows/movies every now and then you see some odd stuff, like wrong colours and things like that. eg. at times throughout the DYRL movie, the Valks will appear with or without wing stripes,

Yah, looking at it a bit more closely, it's clearly a VF-1J head. The different angle of the far side gun threw me.

Hey Phil,

I'm new around here but this Group Build caught my eye. I know I'm not as skilled as most of the rest of this community but I wouldn't mind adding in some of my unstarted kits that I've been putting off building for more than a year now.

I was thinking on doing a few of kits. I was wondering if you have any issues with a vignette or small diorama from the show because I have an idea for a 1:100 Arii Gerwalk?

Arii 1:170 VF-1S

Bandai 1:72 VF-1J Battroid (15th anniversary)

Hasegawa 1:72 VF-0S Battroid

Possible

Hasegawa 1:72 VF-0D Fighter mode

Bandai 1:72 VF-25S Full armor (Skull Leader)

Welcome aboard Scott, and welcome to the FSM forums.

Don't worry about "skill level" - this one's about having fun with the build. There's plenty of experience here, so if you get stuck with anything, just yell and someone will know what to do. Smile

Anything and everything on your list is fine The 1/100 Gerwalk is ok, just needs a rweak here and there. (fix the wing sweep and maybe replace those huge blocks resembling hands) to make it a little better.

Cool.. Smile

If I may make a sugggestion, the 1/170 kits were designed to snap together, but if you do that, some of the seams are horrendously mismatched. You may wish to consider cutting the guide pins off and gluing it together with better parts alignment. Big Smile Wink

No.. I will go back into military modelling again which is my area of interest. I remember I am a big marcross fan when I am very young but now military stuff burns in my heart.

I'm mostly sci-fi myself, but do have a number of military kits as well ( which reminds me of the F-16 I need to get started on for my uncle ).  I have several kits in the stash that are planned for Macross theme with a "real-life" military touch to combine the interests.  The Hasegawa VF-1 with US Navy-style markings, a spare VF-0B I plan to paint up like a Tomcat, the Berkut-style VF-19, and an Isreali AF-influences VF-11C twin kit for starters.

Of course, we'll be here for a year, so with the pace you seem to work at I'm sure there'll be time if you change your mind!Big Smile

Myself tend to build anything, but these days I tend to do less planes and military kits.

Big scifi/anime/fantasy fan.

Looking good Harshman, she's coming together very nicely. I like the work you've done with the shading.

Is it a trick of the camera or is the centre panel on the upper fuselage not quite flush? It appears slightly sunken towards the front, but never mind if it is, as it will be (mostly) covered by the dorsal thruster pack and boosters. Big Smile

Now I also got the 2nd kit as well and this will be the one that I will begin the Macross GB with.  Cool

This is a small 1/720 scale Theater-Scout Bug-Eye also known as the QUEL-QUALLIE.  Surprise

This kit was produced by IMAI and is very rare, I am sure some collector is wiping tears to see this one  built.  Boo Hoo

The craft is as stated a Scout, but I was surprised to learn this little monster was armed w/12 missiles

As w/any WIP: Photos of Box and parts lay-out.  This WIP for GM is officially started.

Construction photos to follow.  Camera

Yes, I will stay with the color scheme as on the box.  Should be interesting seeing how the two compare since I believe you too are building one as well, but I think yours is the newer version from Wave.  I also remember that the box color is Earth Tones (Browns).  I assume this will be the color you paint yours as well.  I am looking forward to your building of this kit Mad-Modeler.

Yeah, I am doing the new 1/72  Wave kit, already ripped the box open and test-snapped it(see other thread for pics).

Will be doing mine in a camo-pattern though to go onto a custom base I got in mind, but I think we got  one or two 1/100 kits coming up too.

Don't expect a sterling paint-job as I lack an AB and Compressor right now, so will be using pastels and hand-brushing.

Mad-Modeler, since I started building Ma.K, I have had to learn to paint all over again, and that means less air brush and more hand paint.  I believe that also was the way I started as a tad pole back in the day.  So please do not sell yourself short, I have come to learn with a carefully applied paint job, by hand can rival any air-brush unless you are painting a Ferrari.  I for one am very much looking forward to your work.  I have noticed you have entered into 3 different GB's which considering you have a year in ea. one to complete is not impossible, but I would like to see some of your work.  So again, I am looking forward to your posting a WIP in any of the GB's.  Yes

Will start the Wip's soon, still waiting for a few kits to come in.

Also son just started a new school term so busy on that front too, being a single parent is not that easy. Being a Contractor/Self Employed does give me often long periods of free-time.

Got a surprise entry for this GB coming in today. Just something small and for the fun of it.

But agree a good Handbrush paintjob can rival an airbrushed one.

Harshman, that Super Valk looks great! Bow Down

Just the right balance to capture a "been through more than one reentry, but got plenty more left in 'er" look.

The kit that will be the 1st build for the GB has arrived, like I said it is an egg-siting kit.

Kit is the Hasegawa Tamago-Hikoki(aka egg-plane) VF-1A/J.

As can be seen not many parts to it, but quiet a decal sheet. 3 colour schemes for the A-variant and 1 for the J-Variant. Paint will be kept to a minimum on it, just add the splashes that are non-white. All the markings, stripes etc will be done using the decals.

Heading out now to pick up another Macross kit and will start digging into this one when I get back.
