Great progress on that SUE my friend! it´nice to see it progress. I by the other hand made very few advances on mine, I hope to post something this weekend.

I just see that you use Humbrol enamels, the 125 with a few drops of blue will be almost an exact match to the Argentinian planes.

Did you get th aftermarkt decals? remeber that the kit decals are totally wrong.

If you plan to mount the exocet missile, be aware (when you drill for he cannons) that you don´t need to put the cannon brels becase those were removed when a exocet was mounted.

but holes needed on cannons housing? or without are covered with some cap?

For colors i don't have the 125 lots of colors but none 125, i'm thinking to mix the 144 or the 77 and make it lighter, from some picture i see colors are very consumed but probably after falklands conflict.

here the picture of individual 04 .. that have a sinking mark or something like that.

Speed up on the sue because actually too traffic on the workbench, and want to see a finished one

probably will my first finished kit for a GB!

LOL Vance, i think if i had deployments would be the lest of my worries.

When i went into work on Mon i found out i was down for the Falklands April till August. But this would have left ,me less than 3 months to sort my life before getting out, and i had ask for the Dec to April deployment. Not that i like being away, but i am hopeing to get married next year and the deployment would have paid for it. Now they have re done the deployments and i aint down for any.

As for the caiste, i was hokking up a chinook on Wed, and as i was backing out i lost my fotting and well back and broke my wrist. Not sure if one has anything to do with the other. Guess i will just make the most of it and look forward to civvie street.

Ouch - tough break Bish, that will slow down the building for sure - you may be able to attempt that paper Horten model using only the left hand, could help the motor skills!

I did try cutting some PE free fr my 17, but its just not happening and i don't want to bugger it up. But good idea on the paper plands, will get some printed off tomorrow.

Thanks bondo. Will just have to use the time best i can doing research on future builds. Its Fri here as well, so enjoying an evening in with the Mrs after being away all week. I'll hoist a coffee or two this end.

Really, a good time to do a lot of research and rekindle that modeling desire. Hope alls well quickly. HBTW sorry it's at your expense, but it's kinda cool to know a Brit soldier who broke his arm working a big hook on the Falklands. Take care.

for decals I bought a super etendard from airfix (for 3€) and steal the needed decals from his decals sheet

I wasn't in the Falklands when i broke it. I started back to work in the UK on Monday and broke it on Wedensday, good start. No more hooking for me for a while.

The second one has the fig I'd like to use with the build if it looks like he could be convincing enough for the time frame? The rest of the set:

Ye, its a right pain in the ...,.., hand.

#Scimiter looks well nice mate, good to see some more of your work.

As for the figure, the helimit is fine. The shirt though implies warm weather, open at the nect, nothing underneath, and look like a thin shirt and not a jacket. So its a tough one. Those wagons ain't heated, but seeing as he is in the turret, sheltered from the weather, you could get away with it.

I did sand this two holes that only exist and the left side of the fuselage.

For those of you working on Sea Harriers, those in EDSG over white had the white overpainted by hand on the trip south.  I believe someone else pointed this out earlier on this site.  If you look closely at photos, one can see the difference in the paint used on the undersides and in covering squadron/national markings and titles.  Do not know if it would be noticed in 1/72 scale though.

Dupes i'm not expert in armor build, but you put on the tracks before paint it?

Azorean nice scratch on the twin like

bsyamato  You will notice a number of people on here do paint the tracks after they have been attached. I am not one of them, but there are a few who do it like that.

SPOOKS  Don't the helmits on those figues have a one piece outer shell. I know thye ones we have now are like that and i have never seen anything different.

I remember a mention of the squadron insignias being overpainted & still slightly visible. At 1/72 scale.... hmm, not sure. I may try to replicate that at the primer stage, see how much of a difference it makes.

Dupes that is a good looking model, no surprise from you. I really look forward to learning from you on the finishes. I'm going to add that I would expect the guys to be bundled up like eskimos.

Bish, Helmets on Dupes' figures have a hard shell over the top and back of head; the earphone sections are made to be somewhat flexible.  The type worn in Falklands looks like our SPH-4 helo flight helmet without the visor assembly.  The shell extends over the earphone section.  Wish I had the capability to post pictures (cannot afford the equipment right now) to show this; I have several pictures of crews in Falklands with them.  Have even seen a Rapier operator at San Carlos wearing one!  Will try to find a picture on web to direct you to.   I shall return....    Also:  Azorean, Like your choice of subject ; something a bit out of the ordinary.  Would like to do one if I could find those decals; are they still available?  I am looking forward to your finished product!

72021 Mentor FAA, Twin Otter FAA, UH-1H FAA

OK, found a picture of what the tanker helmets looked like in Falklands;  Google "British tank helmets"; on page 3, there is an advertisement for a "British tank helmet" on worthpoint.com that shows a helmet listed as from Northern Ireland/Falklands era; should give you an idea of what it looks like.  May be more hits,including an "Amplivox" helmet, which is the same.  Hope this will help out!  

Azorean:  Thanks for the info; think I may try for some Argentine Hueys now as well!  I had no idea these were around!

SPOOK, yep, know the sort of thing you mean. So that would mean the crew helmets we have now were introduced sometime between 82 and 91. Thanks again for your expertise.
