Lovely builds sofar people. Every morning i wake up theres more to see in my inbox... The stuka and warthog really look stunning!Yes

Ok.... less nice news now... After finishing a build i had going for the NMFII GB i turned back to this one and pulled out the B25 i previously started...only to find out i miss the port fuselage!Bang Head. I really have no clue where i left it...

Anyways... this called out for a plan B move... I have a promodeler P39Q in my stash that i hope is eligible but also the old monogram Mig 15... I just can't choose so i will let you guys do that... What would you like more guys?

Looks great Hammer, its the first time I have seen a Stuka in winter camo an I like it a bunch .  It does look dirty and used too, someday I will get weathering down. This does raise a question though. When you finish your second build will you be Self Made ?

Thanks... Actually, I went rather light on distressing the camo, since I wanted this one look like it was early in the  winter, and hadn't been subject to the increasing amount of sorties that get undertaken closer to the Spring offensives.. Did all the weathering with pastels and charcoal.   Flat white is especially easy to weather with pastels, so perhaps you could start with that background...  Easy to over-do too, so be careful...

As for being self-made, yeah.. But it took 40+ years and about 500 Monogram kit-builds (as well as about 1200 other kits), lol... Shep Paine was the guy that made it happen, though.. Had I never bought that M-48 with his diorama tip-sheet, I don't think I'd have kept going much longer in the model business...

With his ideas, and my eye for substituting materials he used with make-shift ones that I could get,  it all fell into place...

Hi folks.  I have never used Future before for anything larger than a cockpit.  How do you go about getting it on in an even coat on something as large as a 1/48 fuselage or larger?  Every method I try seems to end up with lines in it.

Thanks.

Rich

 Hi Rich,

I use future on all my models, 99% are 1:48, and spray it on the same way as I would a solid color. If you maintain basic airbrush discipline and don`t linger too long in spots, it shouldn`t puddle up on you. Several light coats is the way to go and another way to avoid puddles. Good luck and remember, like the other guys are saying, Future is very forgiving.

for future, I brush it on. The trick is to not get it too thin or it will show lines. Same thing if you go over it with a brush once it has become tacky. I have very few problems when using future. I have had it pool and run, but that can quickly be evened out by dipping the brush in future and going over it again (future dissolves itself).

It will airbrush very nicely right out of the bottle. I use about 20psi when I spray future

Oh almost forgot.  Thanks to a yard sale down the road, I have the Mosquito back in the mix.  They had a parts kit with usable body halves and I am already working on it with the other 2.   I am just waiting for a good day to go out and paint on the porch.

 the Baron:

Speaking of the Helldiver kits-we know that the original SB2C kit is an old Monogram design, but where did the later, post-merger Pro Modeler kit originate?  Was that a retooling/redesign, even from the ground up, of the old kit, or was it a mold that RM acquired from another source and added to the PM line?

The later Helldiver is a RM kit they did all on thier own under the PM label. It has alse been slightly modified and sold to Accurate Miniatures for release under their label.

Very interesting...thanks, I didn't know it was an original design.

I picked up a second-season Pro Modeler catalog on eBay for my references.  Graham's book on Monogram, and on Revell, for that matter, ends with the merger.

I've applied the fading coat now. It's subtle, but there. Ive also attached the landing gear so the kit wont sit on its belly while the Future is curing. The gear is pretty well detailed, I only added the major brake lines from wire.

Wonder how many of the Monogram "Pooh-Pooh-ers"  out there know that, and would their perception of Monogram change with that knowledge?

Now you must put on the prop-beenie, and run around the hangar with your arms extended, making airplane noises, and singing, "Coming in on a Wing and a Prayer"..

Back in the day, our squadron had a Nipple Head of the Month award given to the pilot who did or said the dumbest thing for that month.  We should have one here for bone headed modeling maneuvers.  I would like to nominate myself for the inaugural award.

I successfuly glued the fuselage parts together for the Helldiver and while i was admiring my handy work and sanding the seams, I realized the cockpit was on my bench right in front of me.Embarrassed  Luckily, since this is a vintage Monogram kit, I was able to snip the locator spars on the cockpit and fit it in through the bottom.  But did I ever fell dumb!

Ok lets try this again got my post all ready to hit the post button and my Censored cable went out last night.

CallSignOwl thats why I tend to stay away from jets with full load outs. Cleaning up and painting and detailing all those bombs an rockets an gun pods an drop tanks  would drive me even crazier than I am now. Cowboy

Now for some WIP pictures, yup I am working on the F-15 again.

Got all the holes and slots and notches that wont be used on the bottom of the fuse all filled and sanded

While dry fitting the nose piece to the fuse I found a really bad problem, it seems the opening in the fuse where the nose mates to it was 1/16th smaller that the nose piece Tongue Tied So after giving it some careful thought and even more consideration and a couple more cups of coffee. I decided to cut off a bit of chopstick and sand it to a length that would open up the fuse enough that the nose would mate with almost no gap, well really a huge step really Stick out tongue Then wedged it in and hit it with a bit of ca glue.

And feeling I was on a roll after the nose thing I also added the wings, now it does look like a jet.

I didnt get to work on it today but there is always tomorrow. I haffta get a move on too as I still have to start my second build for the group so I can be made. I do NOT want to suffer the HAMMER of noncompliance Dead

I am going to do the VT-2 off of the Lady Lex.  Just because I like the squadron insignia better than VT-6.
