Um.. Hans.  the decals for my Airacobras disintegrated and I don't have enough time to get replacements so I will be changing the P39 to an old Monogram F9F Panther.  1/48 scale.  It's a simple one so I should have time to get it done by the end date. 

If I may...the end date is 6 months from your start date, according to the rules spelled out in the first post.  You should be able to get new deckles for your P-39 long before then.  Maybe that will save you some scrambling.

Troublemaker - I didn't mention it but you probably understood that the picture I included is the F-106.  Both the 102 and 106 carried Falcon AIM-4 missiles (infrared and radar homing).  They later carried AIM-26 nuclear types.  The F-102 carried 6 missiles and also could carry 24 rockets in the lower bay doors.  I think the F-106 carried 4 AIM-4s and one AIM-26 nuke or MB-2 Genie.  I was an avionics tech (not a missile expert) - only remember having to help load them during ORIs (Operational Readiness Inspections).

Nope...thought you sent a pic of the 102..lol..I`m having a tough time telling them apart. I have both kits in my stash...I`ll have to do a side by side comparison to see their differences...and to finally decide what I`m looking at at the gate. I just thought that funky looking missile...the Genie??...was just used on the 102..kinda dumb thinking there..lol. I`m a prop/WWII enthusiast but build the odd jet now and then and the only thing I`m an expert in is ducking my boss!

Some great builds coming from "the family", keep it up.  Just got back from Chicago, took a little R&R (no hits there) honest .  When are these two bit clowns who dress up like a General Liberace going to ever learn?  They can get a lot of expensive toys broken (not to mention innocent people killed) in short order.

I dont think the LAF can do much else. But yes, people are gonna die. On all sides most likely.

It's a bad mission, because the big strikes will be against air defense installs. Of course we will win, but people will be killed. Let's hope the Libyan AF folds up and goes home.

It may not be breif... if boots on the ground are ruled out it is very easy to hunker down in a hole and endure a bombing campaign. That has been proven over and over again.

ps im hearing reports of a hell of alot of air assets buggering off to the med from here which apparantly make them the longest raids since black buck (the vulcans that bombed the airfield on the falklands)

Blackbuck from Ascension were 8000nm.

We're at the back end of the news cycle in the Middle east; here in California. I see that the bombers were Tornadoes, which I cannot imagine flew RT from the United Kingdom. I would guess that the flights earliest were refueling tankers and command stuff.

This will be an interesting if very brief campaign.

Ken-

I`m pretty sure it`s a 102 at the gate. What I meant was that the 102 I see at the gate and your kit have the same type of missles hanging off it...which looks  unusual to me..what are they? The one at the gate`s missle is an orange-y kinda color probably due to sun-fading...were those missles just used on the 102? Can`t recall seeing them with any other type of A/C.

yeh a mig 23/27 was shot down by aa fire the pilot bailed but left it very late and may have hit the ground.

i dont know wether it was a rebel jet (parts of the military have split) or gadaifi ducks

Got some work done on the P-61 this week. Closed up the wings and fuselage and have the seams done, for the most part.  Also attached a wing to a boom and am working those seams and connection points.

nice builds everybody. I got mot of the decals on, but I am taking a vacation to Colorado for Spring Break, so it will be a week before I can post again.

Nice job on the Deuce KBuzz. . The 177th FW has 3 static display A/C at their front gate...An F-100, an F-16 (which they fly) and a 3rd which I couldn`t definately ID..couldn`t decide if it was a 102 or a 106 Delta Dart. Your model just made up my mind...their A/C has the same ordinance hanging off it as your kit so I`m 99% sure it`s a "Dagger"!

Great work on the A-10 and Stuka!!    OK, here's my Deuce.  This (61302) is a replica of one that I helped keep in the air while in the SDANG a couple (!?) of years ago.  It seems that these required a whole lot more maintenance than the good ole F-51s, but then there was a whole lot more avionics stuff to go wrong.

Hope the Hammerboss will let this one in!
