Some more scratch building . In this case i'm building the cabinet below the gun mount . Ammo storage i think . The door on the front hinges at the bottom and has 2 latches at the top , on the sides .

I used 4 push button covers of an old pbx system . Then it was sheet styrene and Evergreen odds and ends for the small details.

I just eyeballed the dimensions so its size may be off a little ...............................................

Yeah, I think the photo's light must make them appear copper. They're not. The problem now, is to get the ends into the ties or loops, whatever they're called. I bored them out, so I'm crossing my fingers.

CARL - That is a SWEET box.  Really fits in well, you must of had your eyes calibrated lately.

TM - Your rods turned out NICE.  They should look real good once in place, looking forward to it.

Thanks for the words guys and Andy it is a very small for three men.  To be able to operate the gun in action, would think it could be tough to do.

Not long after I glued my rods in place, I fumbled the upper hull and dropped it. Needless to say, the notek light, some of the gun lock and engine screens popped off or broke. WTF? Just stupid. I repaired most of the damage and don't think it will show up much, but i was very disappointed in myself.

Absolutely no excuse Carl. I hadn't even had a drink. LOL

I'm hoping to get a base on that p.i.t.a. Saturday, if the rain lets up. Wow it's pouring.

TM - Sounds like a little bad luck   I have done it before and I am sure at some time I'll do it again.  The good thing is you said you got it all back togther, now maybe you should have that drink and send some of that rain here we havent had any for months.

I had to scratch a handle for the lock out of stretched sprue. i lost one of the PE parts which was also micropscopic. Arrgh. Yeah, I'm having that drink.

I built a compartment on the left side of the gun stand . The radio will mount on it later .

CARL - Your scratch building skills are AWESOME   The interior is looking great.  Saw your gun in the background of one of your earlier pics and was looking forward for you to give us a shot of the gun detail, VERY NICE.  Waiting for more

Well all pieces are on and now will be working on the final weathering.  Might be adding a little stowage / gear on also, not sure what though?  Here is a sneak peek:

Like was saying still weathering to come dont think it will be heavy though.

As we all know, living in the NW, it could be a long wait for nice weather. Geez, it was 70+ on Wednesday. Poured cats & dogs last night. Yuck, I'm sick of it, but it does keep the pollen down and therefore my allergies contained.

Well Guys just popping in to say hello and catch up on the progress of members builds.

Carl that is some brilliant work, as I said about your Shilka you have a talent for breathing new life into old kits.

Rob, well, shes beautiful, a catwalk queen, I'm jealous.

Well guys, thought I was going to have this gear on and done but there is still more to do.  Have been working on it all day, has been slow going for some reason.

As you can see there are still some touch-ups to do.  Will also still add a few rifles and then weather the gear.

Eric , i didnt get any time at the bench today as i managed to get some work done outside .............just as i finished we had a down pour about 6 pm ..........to tired to make to the bench . Did you know the tree's here are just beggining to bud out ! Its a cool and soggy late spring ..............

Sorry that I haven't posted much progress lately. Been trying to get the yard ready for summer. Pretty hard to do when half of the back, past our firepit, is a pond.

I too am sick of all this rain lately, Eric and were in Ohio...we're just supposed to get snow  LOL!!

I have a question maybe one of you may know.  Looking through pictures, some of these vehicles have an antenna mounted on the left side of the gun shield and some do not, or am I just missing it?  Which if not all carryed an antenna on that side?  Should I have added one?

Rob , i'm not sure if all of these vehicles had radio or not ...............a safe bet would be the were radio equiped vehicles attached with those that did not . In the case of your model i see a radio setting on the left side behind the shield , so i'm saying it should have an antenna .Just my 2 cents .

Hey Carl, thanks for the answer.  I knew that was the radio but thought the antenna on the right side of the vehicle was the one for it.  You always find an antenna and holder on German armor and I assumed that was the primary antenna and then I assumed there were additional antennas for command vehicles and such.  I asked over in the Armor section and WBIll had said this antenna was stadard and was for the primary radio.  So now my question is: What is the antenna on the right side for?   Things I used to think I knew   Anyway I have mounted an antenna bracket on the left side now, it's just waiting for paint.

Decided to move to the front of the vehicle for awhile.  It was an after thought but here is the begining of wire rope for the front.

Twisted two very small strands of wire and glued on some ends from the spare parts box.  " I  spare parts box"  This is how she turned out.

Good looking job on the tow cable . I agree about the good ole spares box , yesterdays unwanted junk is todays used junk .

Got a basecoat on the upper hull. Yuck, not to happy with it. Lot's of little things I missed and made a mess of. Hopefully the camo and weathering will disquise it a bit.

There is a lot of hull to paint. I need a basic sprayer. Mine I believe is a fine tip. Yikes.

It doesn't feel like it. I was done with basic construction in about 2-3 weeks, so I have been lollly-gagging for the past month. I do feel a little better with some paint to look at. Alas, now I have to conjure up a camo scheme. I hate this part. I'm probably going to go with the old tri-color standby, with large swaths of color. I haven't really seen anything appealing in gallery's on other sites.

Still have the tracks to do. Perhaps I'll get them on one side a night, so I don't get overwhelmed.

Well guys, think I am going to call this one done.  Here are a few pics, I am going to post a bunch more in the armor section.

The only thing I see that I'm going to work on  is the color of the wire rope on the front.  Think it needs a little engine gray on it.
