Not long after I glued my rods in place, I fumbled the upper hull and dropped it. Needless to say, the notek light, some of the gun lock and engine screens popped off or broke. WTF? Just stupid. I repaired most of the damage and don't think it will show up much, but i was very disappointed in myself.

CARL - That is a SWEET box.  Really fits in well, you must of had your eyes calibrated lately. Yes

TM - Your rods turned out NICE.  They should look real good once in place, looking forward to it.

Thanks for the words guys and Andy it is a very small for three men.  To be able to operate the gun in action, would think it could be tough to do.

Carl, you're crazy insane. LOL J/K, that is cool and you are braver then I.

Yeah, I think the photo's light must make them appear copper. They're not. The problem now, is to get the ends into the ties or loops, whatever they're called. I bored them out, so I'm crossing my fingers.

Eric ....... must  be my screen , it looked copperish .........................Stick out tongue

Some more scratch building . In this case i'm building the cabinet below the gun mount . Ammo storage i think . The door on the front hinges at the bottom and has 2 latches at the top , on the sides .

I used 4 push button covers of an old pbx system . Then it was sheet styrene and Evergreen odds and ends for the small details.

I just eyeballed the dimensions so its size may be off a little ...............................................

Nope, not copper and is quite flexible. Perhaps too much in this case.

Here's my crappy photos. As you can see, I can thread the cable thru, just barely. Before I couldn't and broke the piece in every corner. Now there are no rivets and end points, but at least I get my cables.

Hey EVERYONE,  Thanks for the great feedback so far! Big Smile

DUPES - Bad to here of your computer problems but glad to have you back.  Look forward to your build.

TM - Good to hear you have your rods togther, will be waiting to see them.  Thanks for pointing out the color on the rear light on my PZJager I, I am going to correct that right now.  Dont know why I did that? Dunce

Finished with the weathering on the interior, as soon as i correct the rear light will start gluing things togther.  After that will have just the tools to do and final weathering of the whole vehicle.  Here is the interior.

Look forward to everyones next updates.

Well I scratched my cleaning rods/holder. I think it looks okay. I believe it will work for my needs. I need to do a little cleanup and I'll post pictures after. Then I have to do those tracks. Sad

Ooooh, Panzerwaffe, that looks sweeet!

Sorry for my absence...got a bit busy at work, and my laptop has gone all wonky on my when it comes to web browsers. After a Firefox updated, kept getting crashes - rolled it back, and things are a BIT better...maybe it's time for a new one.

Hope to get caught up on everyone's builds, then get tackling my own!

BOB - Glad I could helpBig Smile

Did some work on the casermate. Painted, decals and sprayed with dull coat.  Waiting for it to dry in order to weather some of the interior so that I can get this thing togther.

Also applied the cross on the rear of the vehicle and started the wiring on the radio.

Not the best picture but I'll post a better one with more progress.

Rob-thanks for the tips.  I especially think that leaving them in two sections would solve the problem of not joining the upper & lower hull/chassis together for painting.  I'll be using your advise next time.

Hey guys, Glad you liked the chipping technique.  I threw away many old brushes and thought there had to be some use for them.

CARL - Very NICE scratchbuilding!!  Looks great!! Really enjoy watching someone go the extra step and do it from scratch especially when it is so well done.  Want more please.

BOB - Tracks are looking great.  Magic tracks are my favorite to work with, after a little practice they become easy to do.  You have an excellent kit to practice on because if you do not like something it can just be covered up with the skirts.  I do the tracks almost the same as you the difference is I use a flat chisel blade to lift them off of the tape that way I do not roll or possibly break the tracks apart.  The other thing is I have all of my road wheels glued in place leaving just the idler and sprocket loose in order to get the tracks on and off.  Last, I leave my tracks in two sections, most leave them in one.  A top half that incorporates the sprocket and a bottom that incorporates the idler.  That leaves me two glue points on final assembly but also provides me a way to slide the tracks in place.  Doing it that way allowes you to have the model completly built if you like and it would not matter.  I do think she is coming along very NICE and cant wait to see more.

Carl-nice work-I'm always impressed when someone goes the extra step with some scratch building.

Nate-Thanks....Silly Putty is your friend with hard edged schemes

Eric-I heard no 'click'.....so.....

1. I made a straight edge from Legos and put a length of 3M blue tape-sticky side up-against the bottom edges of the Legos. 2. Used tweezers to attach the tracks (counting off in groups of 10-instructions called out for 97....and they were wrong), 3. then some Testor's Liquid cement applied liberally.  4.Let sit for 15-20 min (I forget), remove the tape & tracks...  5. turn over and gently peal the tape away by starting at the end and 'rolling' it up.  Tracks stuck together (for the most part) and still had enough flex in them to be formed around the various wheels.  At this point you could still add/remove a link or two without difficulty. 6.Let dry overnight and then pull all the road wheels off (stuck on with rubber cement prior). Still fragile but if they come apart, a stronger cement can be used.

My mistake wasn't following the order of the instructions and building and attaching the wheels & tracks prior to attaching the upper hull...it would have been a bit easier that way.  Oh well, live and learn, right?

Thanks Terry.Big Smile

Bob: The panzerjager is really coming along nicely. I like the hard edged camo you've achieved. I've yet to try one of those schemes.

Shellback: really nice scratch-building you've done on your 234.

Rob: Excellent tutorial on your weathering process.......very well done.

I haven't done anything else on my Marder this week, but after meeting with Thom last night, I think I'm going to start on a base to display it on. Something suitably cold looking......
