DHC, your Stoof is looking very sharp in that paint shceme!Yes

OK, first pics of USS Ramsey. I added the prop strut braces and the Sonar dome along with a shim to the rear. Need to sand it smooth in the next few days and fill another gap on the rear of the sonar dome.

Jbrady I've seen a couple of your builds and can say to my eye I see no problem with your skill level. What I have seen a a large jump in your skill level and a push to raise it to another level. For me pushing to that higher level could get very frustrating so I always kept a simple fast build going along with a tough, well what I felt was a tough build anyways. It did help the frustration levels that I can attest to. Like you my nemesis was an old Monogram TBF in 1/48. If I recall correctly I completed two builds while working on the TBF, a P-51B which I love to build and a Travel Air Mystery ship. In the end I did finish the TBF and it turned out to be one of my builds that I am proudest of,  I am so happy it didnt take the flight to the trash can that it came close to so many times. But during the build I hated the thing. So hang in there buddy, take a brake from it and when your mind is right come back to it, you will be glad you did.

Randy So many to build.......So little time

jbrady

Martin,

Thanks for the offer of help. i don't know what my problem is with this kit except for a low skill level. I thought I was ready to build a "serious" model... this one showed me how much I have to learn. The experience has been humbling and disheartening. If I continue I will just stop building. I won't trash the thing but it is definitely off the bench and out of sight.

Just try, never give up!!

Just looked again your avenger pics , but honestly not able to see low building skill Super Angry

if you not sure for something just buy a low (detail) level kit and hyperdetail it with lots of scratch (evergreen and others brand wait you at a very low cost instead of aftermarket sets Devil)!!!

I started the engine mod on my gannet ,but nothing planned how to complete, just some idea in mind , i just try

so i repeat, don't give up on your avenger!

Julez the sub is coming real nice....just about there eh?My favorite part is the finishing and dirtying up bit so have fun and looking forward to seeing it done.

Jbrady you sound like you have made up your mind as far as dropping the Avenger build ,but here is my 2 cents....I think it is looking really great and maybe if you do a shake n bake Hase or tamiya kit you may just bounce back to it.Just a thought.

What is the major hurtle on it right now?Maybe we can collectively help you through it.I have one on the shelf and have been watching your build with interest and could maybe aid you by referencing mine.

Cheers

Martin

I'm going to drop this build. If I keep fighting the AM TBF kit I may never build another model.

I'm impressed with all of the work you guys are doing. I'll keep following with interest.

The KAMAN SH-2 Seasprite. ASW Helo, were in HSL squadrons before they converted to SH-60's.

Today I began the build on USS Ramsey. Built the sonar dome before work...Wink I was planning on installing it, but there is a gap to therear where it meets the hull, so I need to make a sheet plastic shim to help it fair in and sit properly. I will take care of that and mounting tomorrow.

Richard, well there you have it, another fantastic sub build for your collection, well done sirYesYesYesI  too like the green wash you added, a very nice touch....So whats next??? I hear the Italeri Biber is a nice kitWhistlingOk so i want to see it built to see how well it compares to the Verlinden one....

Vette, The Biber is on it's way mate, i put it down to work on the Mustang for a few days but i brushed some future over the glue points too add some extra bonding and last night i gave it an overall coat of future through the AB as a prime coat, preshade tonightYeah

Bs, your making some excellent progress on the Gannet, your attention to detail will certainly pay off with a great modelYes

DeHav, great work on your tracker, i like what i'm seeing and your Hornet is a very nice looking model, well doneToast
