good updates on the gannet

glued the fuselage part around the ramome, i modded the kit sequence, and the radome will be glued after.

the little four windows rear need to be covered , the kit don't specify this thing good, just painted black and after covered with putty. Otherwise a wrong color ca be visible through the rear cockpit.

Also finished to put structures on main gear wells

and glued wings, The fit was not perfect but good, only few putty needed

Soon need to face the main difficult for this build .. engines Black Eye

that's all for now

Nice looking progress all!!!!I am still waiting for decals to finish the RCN Tracker....and with summer here I am inundated with yard and house maintenance so the Firefly is delayed for a bit but hope to get to her soon.

Cheers and gears

Good news fot the gannet! after saved it from a dangerous crash whit the floor i finally started the engine complex tonight.

Main hard thing to resolve was the bar that pass through the air intakes and the same air conduct. The same front gìear will be glued counting only on the new structure to allow engines removing, thats the work:

With compass cutter did two large stripes for air conducts and the structure bar in the middle

test fit and gluig with green cap tamiya glue.

measuring is good, today only some sanding needed and to adapt on the engine circular section

that's all for tonight

de havilland put at least some picture of firefly sprues,

BsYamato,

Man,.... if you put any more scratched detail in that Gannet you are going to end up with a plane model weighing 100 kilo's... Indifferent. Absolutely amazing to see you workYesToast

original site for the picture

http://www.bredow-web.de/Triebwerke_und_Flugzeugmotore/Amstrong_Siddeley_Double_Mamba/amstrong_siddeley_double_mamba.html

plus pieces needed on the top of cockpit bulkead, and ... if the more lead in the motors is not enough i need to put some torpedo in the bay (also to scratch) and fill it of more lead Crying

don't want to see the model seat on tail.

Hi everyone.

I purchased the  Revell of Germany 1/72 USS Gato class Submarine recently.

If I may, I'd like to sign up for this GB.

I don't have much done.

Thanks, Ken

Hi, Thanks RichardBig Smile

Yea I built those shelves, so I know they can hold the weight, the angle brackets are attached to the studs. So I know it can hold it. BTW thanks for the clue in on the weight of it

Pics will be coming Smile

Man, this is going to take awhile to build. I have almost completed the command section for the VIIc, and have to try to fit everything together, and put alot of piping in the section that goes below the floor (not photographed). The parts are grossly warped in many areas, and I will just have to accept some of it. I was able to straighten some parts with hot water. I put an order in on eBay for more external PE parts (my third set now), and hopefully it will arrive soon. I'll post pics when the command section is done, maybe in a week or two.

Rob,

That is some magnificent work youre showing!YesYes I am struck with awe and amazement. Now i REALLY want to do another 1/72 VIIC....

One thing puzzles me though.... are you planning to cut open the hull so all these goodies can be seen? That is going to require some extensive interior detailing.... I love what i see but i don't envy youStick out tongue Top notch material sir!Wink

Thanks Kerm!

I sometimes think I bit off more than I can chew. I dry fitted the hull and deck to mark off the periscope location on the hull, and marked off where to start cutting a window on the starboard hull. I'll cut it away when I'm done this section, to allow a view into the sub. I have heard that the torpedo section is more difficult to fit, but I'll tackle that one in a couple of weeks! Perhaps you can do the new Revell1/72  Gato for your next build! I'm trying to find the 1/72 Revell HMCS Snowberry(but can't find one)- that would make a great display to have it beside the VIIc!

Hello

Here is some more progress. I have to add the ladder and the wire coming from the observation persiscope, but otherwise this section is done. Next is detailing the hull(adding grates for vents etc) and then onto the torpedo section.

Rob,

AB-so-friggin-lutely top notch work there my friendYesYesYes. I know how the original state of the interior was so i can fully appreciate the work you have put inthere. Do keep posting! More more moreStick out tongue

But seriously and out of curiosity..: What is the barrel shaped item below the periscope? Kinda looks too big to be a housing for the periscope in it's undeployed position but i can ofcourse be wrong....

And i take it there will be some wear and tear once you have finished all compartiments or were you planning on keeping it all squeekie clean? I make no secret of the fact that i love battered and rusted up subs ya knowWink But that is ofcourse your call entirely.

Thanks, Kerm!

I'm not exactly sure, but I do think it is the housing for the periscope. The interior is actually washed with oils, and does look a little grubby(the photo does not really show this), but I'm not going to do any heavy wear (I'm all for subtlety!), perhaps a little more wear about the base of the hatches. These subs, in many cases, didn't last very long anyways- the Royal Canadian Navy  kept sinking them! I'll also just do subtle wear on the hull. I am modeling this sub as U 552 in the early part of the war, so it will look fairly new(sorry to disappoint!).

I would like to put a map or two on the map table- know any sites where I could download and print a 1/72 scale map?

Great pieces inside the sub Rob!! good painting Yes

some ppor update for the gannet Sad

i glued the flaps and paint it (only the glued piece in the picture)

and primed the gannet with my usually humbrol 140 high thinned

i glued a piece of sprue in the uynder radar hole to better manage the gannet during the painting work.

I'm about completing the kamov 18 (the little red helo in the picture) and will give the priority to the gannet Super Angry
