4,029 pounds (1,828 kg) of pure awesome. I love that avenger. No point in shooting a rabbit if you cant eat it afterwards. Go for the headshot.

Very efficient.  Not much to clean and dress.  Meat is pre-tenderized.

Baron: Love that photo of the A-10's cannon. Should be in the dictionary under the term 'kick@#$'...

Great work folks, sorry for the lack of photos. The Dark Shark was coming along well until I wrecked one of the two beautiful and finely-molded resin air intakes with my apparently overly zealous sanding. Am trying to rebuild the parts now Sad

CallSignOwl your work never disappoints, that's one nice looking A-10 ( notice I did NOT say hog ??? ) I was going to get one when I went to Michaels this past weekend with my 50% coupon. However I made a great score anyway, a 1/32 Monogram M48A2 Patton Tank for 12 bucks. Will be a good one for my first armor build I think

Medicman71 the Tomcat is coming along nicely for sure, keep the pictures coming man

Randy So many to build.......So little time

Thanks Vetteman. I got my Tomcat and my WARTHOG (yes I did say it) from Michael's. I've been gettig the cheap kits for now and loading them up with aftermarket stuff.

Working on getting the resin nose and gun panel sanded and on. This really is an easy build model once you get past all the crappy parts.

now ive never tried scratch building before or trying to detail the cockpit so dont be too harsh.Embarrassed

i know the cockpit is pretty Ick!

i should of cut the strips used in the cockpit detail a bit thinner, but this is 1:72 scale.
you guys will probably come up with 1000's of things i did wrong, but how else am i going to learn?

this was the first time i have bothered to paint the cockpit Embarrassed

Im dealing with a bit of motivational-block right now. Decals are not my favorite part of the build, and the multitude of stencils on the modern-day planes even less so!  Im slowly working on them here and there, so it will eventually get finished in a few days!

na, im good. Have fun with that tomcat!  Wink

Its not that the decals are hard--I just don't wanna do it!  That and the sheet has much more decals than what the instruction sheets call for (see my A-10 formation light thread).  Im about halfway through them right now, working in spurts, a little in the morning, some after lunch, etc....

Owl,

It helps me to divide the whole process into easy to tackle chunks.... You know,.... top left wing......go watch a show......top right wing......have a smoke.....left fuselage......go have a shower....etc. etc. You get it i guessWink

See I like to do all the decals at one time. That way when there's decals on both sides that I get them in the right spots.

Dudes and dudettes,

Well,... the B25 im building is in the paintbooth so that gave me the room to look at my A10... As said i previously started it and did some fuselage sanding. Looking at it again i dont think it was half bad...most of the fiddly detail hasn't been compromised.

But lets get up to speed.... The model in question is Revell of Germany's offering in 1/48th scale... Two decal options, both with mouths, both in standard two tone grey. Might deviate from that as i do like the Thunderbolt II in European camo scheme (two or three tone greens)... Not sure yet.

And the model as it sits here now:

Oh and reading through the posts regarding this.... Yes there is a "vintage" scheme A10 in green with invasion stripes and yes there is an example of the Hog in green and grey:

And a profile of the european camo:

(profile pictures borrowed from the wings palette website....)

Think i am going to have fun with this oneWink

Owl and Kermit both building A-10s !!!!!!!!!!!! I am loving this. Great work on both builds YesYes

I was finally able to get back in the mancave and working today, sure was relaxing leme tell ya. Anyway I made a bit of progress on the P-51, got the wings and fuse glued together. I like to pose the control surfaces on the 51s I build and this one is no exception. I read a tip in FSM submitted by Fermis that I decided to try out, and it worked perfectly even though the tip seemed kinda, well, strange at first glance.  I cut the flaps and elevators off with sewing thread, thats right sewing thread. The cuts were very clean and straight needing a minimum of clean up and was much faster than cutting them with a hobby knife. Thanks Fermis

All these cuts only took a half hour neat huh.

I dont know if it was me or the kit but the seams arent bad on this one at all, not much clean up to be done other than on the radiator scoop. Hopefully I will get back to the bench again tomorrow

V-Man!Big SmileYes Busy on one of your Mustangs i see and doing a terrific job as well i might add. Great to hear you are enjoying yourself and glad the new technique worked out for you so well. Carry on sir...

Yes, an A10. Of all the hardware you guys are throwing at the taliban and other bad guys i must say that the warthog is my most favorite. When i saw this box at the LHS half a year ago it was a real no brainer. Didn't think about it at all and just picked it up without even looking beyond the boxart LOL. Would be my first modern fast mover as wellSmile

Working on the B25 as we speak because i want to wrap it up so i can concentrate more on this one. I did however glue and sand the wings and started on the engine nacelles. WIPS to follow soon people

Owl and Kermit both building A-10s !!!!!!!!!!!! I am loving this.

I've been umming and ahhing over an A-10 for a while now. I've got a Trumpeter 1/32 A-10 Thunderbolt II sitting in an online 'cart'. I am holding off 'checkout' for the moment. It's mighty tempting!

This kit also has a resin engine. YUM!

Cheers

On the bench: A-4F 1/32 Hasegawa

Just deployed: F6F-5N Hellcat Nightfighter 1/48 Eduard

Up next: A6-E Intruder 1/48 Revell

Nice work Vetteman, I'll have to try that thread trick myself.  I found the seams on the Revell mustangs are not bad at all--the worst one was the radiator place! Its a nice little kit. DO you have an idea of what scheme you'll be doing this mustang in?

Kermit, Im sure you will do an excellent job on the warthog, just as you always do!

myself, I worked in a dedicated fury to finish up my own Warthog. It was taking up a lot of space on the workbench, LOL! The decals, protective coat and weathering were completed, and the ordinance loaded up. I went with my own load-out than what was supplied in the kit. I have a F-15E without any bombs in the stash (WTF Revell, a mud-mover with nothing to move mud with?!)  so I decided to save the bombs for  the F15. I've seen A-10s armed with a pair of sidewinders, and wanted mine to have some as well. The missiles and their double-rail came from the spares box, and I added a pair of bombs from another kit.

in keeping with the paint scheme, the bottom of the aircraft says "US ARMY"
