CallSignOwl your work never disappoints, that's one nice looking A-10 ( notice I did NOT say hog ??? ) I was going to get one when I went to Michaels this past weekend with my 50% coupon. However I made a great score anyway, a 1/32 Monogram M48A2 Patton Tank for 12 bucks. Will be a good one for my first armor build I think

Medicman71 the Tomcat is coming along nicely for sure, keep the pictures coming man

Thanks Vetteman. I got my Tomcat and my WARTHOG (yes I did say it) from Michael's. I've been gettig the cheap kits for now and loading them up with aftermarket stuff.

Working on getting the resin nose and gun panel sanded and on. This really is an easy build model once you get past all the crappy parts.

Baron: Love that photo of the A-10's cannon. Should be in the dictionary under the term 'kick@#$'...

Great work folks, sorry for the lack of photos. The Dark Shark was coming along well until I wrecked one of the two beautiful and finely-molded resin air intakes with my apparently overly zealous sanding. Am trying to rebuild the parts now Sad

Here's an update. Horizantal stabs have been cut off and the fuselage halves joined together. Next up is the resin nose and gun.

Looking sharp. Keep up the good work.Toast.

4,029 pounds (1,828 kg) of pure awesome. I love that avenger. No point in shooting a rabbit if you cant eat it afterwards. Go for the headshot.

And now that they've upgraded the A-10, it has a precision strike capability. No where to run or hide now.

Looking very good Ms. OwlYes. One question ? Was there an A-10 done up in  vintage OD/Gray  markings?

I seem to recall hearing of a Warthog done in historical markings as a special tribute and I know of several other modern aircraft done in vintage colors as a tribute to their units history.  Just curiousHmm.

Currently have the Bulldog on a temporary/semi hold . Got a Hellcat in the paint/weathering stages I need to focus on. I've been smoothing out some of the course sanding and will be back in earnest when i I get this other project past the finishing stage.

Howard

I don't know about the vintage Warthog. Ive never heard of it. I quick Google search (very quick!) showed no results.

Take your time and dont feel like you have to rush you builds, this GB runs for a year, so we'll still be here. Or at least I will be!

Reasoned

You must like those Warties Owl. Wink  She's looking good and I must say, there is little to compare with an A-10 opening up with it's Gatling gun.  Gives new meaning to "rat-tat-tat".

More like a GROWLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! Followed by the sound of an Iraqi tank ( or Soviet tank or Taliban bunker, etc.) being ripped to shredsDead! An awesome and relatively inexpensive weapons system. To bad it's not in production anymore. Need more of them2 cents.

Awsome looking A-10 OWL!! I really like the colors. That's cool to see a different scheme on it. I'm gonna have the Tiger Shark mouth on mine from the 23FW. It's really hard to find those marking though.

I had considered giving the A-10 a Flying Tigers scheme, but I liked the OD/NG scheme better. ( I used a 3-view drawing on the web and copied it onto paint and applied different camo schemes to it) Did the Flying Tigers use OD/NG?

IN any case, the Neutral gray has been applied. Less fading was on teh bottom because I figured it wouldn't get much sun.

The A-10 is looking good.  Don't think I've ever seen one in OD and Grey.  Put Nationalist Chinese markings on it and you've got Flying Tigers 2000 (alternate history).

kermit

Miss Owl,

Would you allow me to continue on my own revell warthog in 1/48 scale in your GB? I did already finish the pit, close the fuselage and started the seamfilling on it...Embarrassed. Desperately trying to clear out my stash before buying new stuff you seeWink. It would please the missus.

Richard

absolutely! You do very nice work and I would love to have one of your offerings in my GB. And I understand about the clearing out of the stash...I too have to reduce mine! I put a hold on buying kits this year, but with the IPMS nationals coming up, I don't think that will hold! LOL

Nice to hear the building of the Dark Shark is progressing smoothly. Smile

I was finally able to get some painting time in on the Warthog. I plan on doing this one up in USAAF paint of Olive Drab and Neutral Gray. There will also be a shark mouth involved. I pre-shaded with black, then filed in the centers of the panels with the basic OD, then lightened the OD with some white for the covering coat. More white and a bit of yellow was added for the splotchy sun-faded parts of the upper panels.

Thanks folks, the aircraft is together and am currently filling and sanding the seam lines. Will post photos when done. Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised that for a limited run kit there are no huge gaps or fit problems.

Scorpiomikey I know some of the fits on the Tomcat kits can be a ROYAL PAIN but they build up into such nice looking models with some extra work and time. I found having a second build going, a simple one, really helps me get over the rough spots on the Tomcat. I had trouble with builders block a bit ago and decided to build something simple and very different, a Revell 1/12 scale chopper. It came out great and now I am back in the seat building again.

Gamera a great start on that build buddy the pit looks very good well done

Ohhhhhh very cool Scorpy! I haven't built a Tomcat in years, very cool plane and looks like a great kit.

Anyway, here's the cockpit for the Dark Shark. I didn't go crazy detailing the thing since the cockpit hole is tiny and I doubt you'll see much of anything. Therefore; I really drybrushed a lot of silver to try to make the detail visible down in there.
