OK people, figured it was about time for me to get some progress pics onto this thread. This is where the 162 stands so far. The 'pit is finished, as is the engine, and it's nearly all buttoned up and ready for some paint. The gunsight needs to go on, then I'll mask and attach the canopy pieces before paint begins. The white cylinders behind the 'pit are styrene tubing, capped off and glued in place after being filled with tungsten powder for nose weight. This stuff is great for ballast - it weighs 1.5 times as much as lead per unit volume, so a little goes a long way.

Have made more progress on my Salamander - fuselage is joined up, seams are all clean, and the wings & horizontal tailplane are attached. Got some pics, but they're still on the camera - should be posting 'em in the next day or two. Soon it'll be time for some paint. Yes

Would a one-month extension be enough?

Plenty, for me. Thanks.

Well, sorry to say I will not complete this on time. Which is no great surprise to anyone considering the date on this post! LOL.

This is why I never grab a badge till I'm done and I have only two badges. Sad

Anyway, here is a pic of where I am at so far on the Corvette Stingray.

Obviously, still a lot of work to do. Oh, well.

Been plugging away steadily at my He-162. Didn't like that big steel ball Tamiya provides for ballast, so I rigged my own by filling some 5/16 styrene tubing with tungsten powder (heavier than steel), sealing both ends and gluing it in place.

It's gonna be a tight finish, but with a 3-day weekend, I just may get it done. Should have some progress pics up tonight.

Eats

sweeeeet! I always though the He-162 was a nifty looking plane

yay, photos! Looks pretty good to me. Are the wings going to be able to pivot?

No. They're gonna be fixed in the swept back position. Next Tomcat I build will have the wings extended.
