Welcome back Jmart!  I do remember seeing you around here.  Yes, most variants have been taken except for odd balls which will probably not happen because kits are either unavailable or comes in expensive resin kits.

You just let us know which kit you want to enter.  I'd like to see that Tamiya Ausf L because of Voyager PE set if you are up for a challenge.

Trust me you are going to enjoy this GB because of those great guys here as they have been so helpful.

Guys, I agree something buggy is going on.  Earlier half of Chazzer's links were broken but now I can see all pictures.  Maybe he had the links corrected or its the system.

ANDY - Going to be nice to see you get started!  Like what you have choose, paint scheme, and the goodies.  Should be a great build.  I also like that figure set, have not seen that one before.  Like the one carrying the MG.

The site has been acting funny for the last 3 -4 days for me.  Same as yall have said, either cant get on, cant see pictures, or the size of the screen keeps shifting in size.  Has just started doing it again tonight.  Dont know?

Rob- Glad you liked the figures I have chosen to go along with the StuG.  Dig that German with MG 42... he probably thinks he is a Rambo.

Guys- I have identified third victim tonight... completely forgot that I brought the set at Michigan Toy Soldiers during my summer break.  It was sitting in my stash along with 40 other sets...

Going for the commander on the right... he's in winter outfit and wearing gloves.  Perfect match!

It will be my first attempt using one of those TANK figures.  A friend of mine is a big fan of those so I have to give it a shot.  Little expensive... $30 just for two figures.

Picture this... the commander is ordering the MG crew on the ground where to set up.

I only need to do one more thing to make everything complete and it is to buy a Fruil Winterketten tracks from a local shop.  Right now they are out of stock and more will arrive in 2-3 weeks.  So I will go ahead and start putting the kit together...

Have a good one!

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the Yes re my Pz - it'd really coming together now. I'll be assembling the Friuls this weekend and I've also ordered some black track (like blacken it but non corrosive and designed for Friul tracks.

www.tihobbies.co.uk my mate Tim sells the stuff and it's superb. I used it on my last StuG III B.

Our normal computer went nuts and is now off for repair (it's 4 years old and still got warranty which we pay a few quid for each month) so my Dad bought this amazing Acer Laptop which is just soooo fast it's amazing (6GB memory, 500 GB HDD) that means nothing to me but I'm told it's good. It certainly flies!

When the old comes back either repaired or replaced I'll have that as my own so good news. I can't believe how fast this thing is!

Friul update this weekend!

All the best,

Ben Toast

Thanks for the confirm on the site issues Carl and all,,,   seems to be ok today.

Andy,,   looks like you hit paydirt with the fig(s)

Ben,,   will be looking forward to the Friul update

I hope to put some, (almost),  final touches on the micro pz III and get some pics up. Theoretically speaking the tank will be complete,,,  but, I have an idea for a little scene for it and the same scale tiny Schwimmwagen...  (I posted some pice of that a while ago in this thread)....   I am waiting for an essential "scene" component to arrive in the mail.

In any event,,,  hope to get some updated pics up soon

Enjoy the ride!

Carl- Thanks! Beer  Looks like FSM is working alot better now as it was down for maintenance earlier today.

Ben- Looking forward to see your Ausf N with tracks on next!

JMart- This is GREAT!  More PE the merrier for us!  Bet Brian could appreciate a company as his was loaded with PE too.  The roster has been updated to include you and your old Tamiya Ausf L.  I love those old Tamiya kits! Yes

Guys- Didn't work on my StuG but I had a good reason... I was on roll painting my figures!  They are about 75% completed.  They need more work on flesh and details then final dark wash...

OK OK OK I lied... I managed to spend couple of hours at the workbench tonight.  It felt great especially to see the figures getting closer to the finish line.  Most of the detail painting is complete except for some gears such as wood handles and the collars.

For the eyes, I learned a great tip from a friend Adam (Indy)... I have been using acrylic paints on the figures but for the eyes I used enamel off white (I used Buff).  I am allowing it to dry overnight then I will use acrylic black paint to paint dots.  That way if you are not happy, you can just wipe the dots off and try again.

For the bayonets, I have the best reference... a real thing next to my workbench.  My first WWII collection...

For anybody who enjoy painting German figures, this reference book is a MUST to have.  I bought it for only $20 or $25 from Military Books Club few months ago.

For discussion purpose only... snapshots inside the book... everything the German infantry used during the war from personal gear to uniforms to weapons.

You might want that book if you enjoy WWII militia collection too.

Hi Andy,,    Yup, same book indeed. I am pretty sure I paid a bit more, but, what a reference book!    Incredible stuff.....     It would be great to see something like that for our GI's, agreed. I currently refer to some Osprey, Arms and Armor, Men at Arms and some older Squadron books.   They're ok,, but nothing close to that German gear / uniform reference book.

And,, a quick update....   The micro pz III is all but complete, but it needs a commander (no real selection of figures in this scale)....     So, I have to make do with     (ugh)       this - -     The detail is, umm, not the best, and it absolutely needs some cleaning and attention.       If I keep the headset, I will have to wire it (good lord)...  If I get rid of the headset, I have to sand / file down and also sculp ears (good good lord)

Ok,,  keep the headset....

I did a test fit and it needed a little trimming,, so,,  CHOP,,  off with his feet, and lower legs....

Start cleaning up, but try not to erase too much detail off of very little detail...

Huge sinkhole in the back,,,,    add some putty and hope for the best...

A little more sanding, filling and primer,,       hm,    maybe some thin zap and paint will help smooth it out...

Well,,    that is enough for now,, I know it's not very exciting,,,   I should have some finished micro pz pics up soon...

Hope you like, and as always,, all comments welcome

Bill

Enjoy the ride!

Bill- I am screaming "Medic!  Medic!  I need asprins..."  WOW  So little and you are really doing a great job making it look better.   About the books for American GIs, I guess because they didn't wear exciting & colorful stuff like the Germans so I guess there is not enough demand for a book like this.   Everything was green... kahki... brown.  So exciting, huh?

Carl- Thanks for the chuckle! Wink

Doogs- Thanks for the tip! Beer  Very tempting but I have to decline this time.  Having more than 40 kits in stash, I am doing my best not to get more until Christmas unless you see a M16 Quad gun Dragon #6381 on sale let me know! Big Smile

Guys- Quick update on my figures... I have added slings to the MGs.  They are from Verlinden I bought at a show last year for a good deal.

Slings will be primed first before I can paing them.  Thanks for looking... TGIF! Beer
