I've opened the 6mm German howitzer and boy is it a small kit!

When does the build end though?

I've actually made specific plans to be at home on Monday (US holiday) so that I can paint my gun. Let's see if it actually happens.

Zokissima,
yes, i feel bad for my crew.
all their arms still on the sprue!
i DID glue the torsos onto the 2 that are 'cut in half'.
but i have to work out the 'geometry' of the gun to figure out how to position the arms.
am going away for the holiday.
it does not look good for the gun crew!

lol tell me about it. I've finished the gun completely, and about 70% finished on the Demag, but the figs are still in the box on the sprues Smile [:)]

Larry,
i am sure she would answer any questions that she can on tack.
(she is not a draught horse expert - but she understands the
fundamental 'mechanics' of bridles, bits, whatever.)

i showed her the box for the Dragon 2.8 cm AT gun w/ horse
and she had some questions abt the box art and how the horse was connected to the towed gun.

BUT - i do not think there will be any 'hooking up w/ Muzzleflash! Evil [}:)]Big Smile [:D]

on my Pak 40 last night - i used the white microbrush (superfine?) to
put on the dark green camo stripes/lines/blobs.
still procrastinating on the figures.

Maybe you can hook Muzzle up with your girlfriend so she can give him the lowdown on the tack.

what do you call a 'rivet counter' for horse stuff? Big Smile [:D]
(i call her 'Chris', or 'honey', but i think there might be another word for it) Tongue [:P]

i did some paint chipping on the Pak.
just a bit of poking w/ a very dry grey brush.
i am going to have to pick up the pace if i truly intend to get the Quad started & finished in time!

Thanks for the compliments!
It feels like slow progress, but that is what I get for doing so many figures, and 2 guns, 2 horses, sheez what was I thinking! hehehe Banged Head [banghead]

The scratchbuilding for the horses is going to be difficult, or at least it appears that way. Once I start I have a feeling it will go ok. I have to hookup two horses to a single limber, and the kit only gives you the basic parts with an ( * ) indicating parts to be scratchbuilt... DOH!

I'll try to get a better set of pictures for the next posts.

You just did!

QUOTE: Or did, I miss the boat for submission? I've never done a group build before, but would like to get in on this one.

You are in! People in the build don't have to pledge their allegience or anything. All you have to do is build a gun, with a prime mover optional. Nice job, by the way. Feel free to add the group build badge to your posts if you want to. It's at the bottom of my messages these days, not because I'm done, but so that people can find it and put it in their messages when are are finished. Welcome to the build and congratulations for a completed model.

i guess my question would be:
if the dunkelgelb was chipped off, what whould be under it?
some kind of primer? bare metal?

Dark red primer unless it was an early gun that was originally grey.

Note that the gun is in firing position but the bottom sheild (between the wheels) is folded for transit.
Nice pics, coulda used em last month Big Smile [:D] now if I can finish the halftrack by July.

All done! Have to work on the Demag now, as there's still a lot of work left on it. My brother will be doing a dio for school, so I have to help with that, and it so turns out that I'll be able to use the flak 43 and demag Big Smile [:D]

hi gang!
i have gotten my 7.5cm Pak 40 built into sub assemblies, primed, and shot w/
dunkelgelb. last night i painted the tires w/ Testor's rubber, and did some detail painting.

Hey rebel, there it is, right at the bottom of my message. Smile [:)]

I blackprimed all the subassemblies of my gun, but now that it's dry I noticed that the paint went on kinda powdery and flaky. Oh well, it wouldn't be one of my build-ups if there wasn't at least one thing seriously wrong with it! Laugh [(-D]

I used a big brush to get all the powdery paint off, at least most of it I hope, and I'm going to assemble most of the sub-assemblies and then shoot it with some hopefully better black primer. Then I'll start laying the OD on. Glad to hear you guys are progressing, but remember this is the lazy man's GB, and you've got til July 1!

OK I will do the figures!

Ya,mine gun is deployed. The kit was nice, i havent built artillery yet so it was good. Unfortunatly for me i left a nasty seem line in thebarrel that i didn't see before i painted it.
I'll probably just put it on a small plaque with some grass.

HELLO! Tongue [:P]

Sounds fun. I prefer that over the inevitable Germans-defeating-Russians dio.

I blackprimed my gun in sub-assemblies last night and will let it dry in the basement over the weekend while I am away. I forgot to tell my wife about it. I hope she doesn't step on it. [:0]

Then I'll assemble it on Sunday afternoon, and it's OD time!

Are you going to do a diorama in which a kettenkrad-towed Puppchen knocks out a T-34? Sounds elaborate!

Got my components all washed last night, and am letting them dry today. Hopefully they will be fully dry by tonight so I can black prime them. I'll be away for part of the weekend, and when I get back I can assemble the gun and start putting the OD on it.

rebel, are you deploying your gun, or will it be displayed with a prime mover of some kind? Nice little kit, isn't it? A version of that gun was still in service with the marines in the 90's!

There's some good stuff going on in here! Here's my update, the first in over a month, probably:

Puppchen, Kettenkrad and 1/2 T-34, plus figures have been located in the many boxes that littered my new work area. Individual items, each in its own little plastic bag even made it to my new modeling desk. Reference material re-located too. Awaiting take-off of Concorde, destination display cabinet, before attempting to do anything more on this GB project... Take -off is scheduled for tonight, so things are looking good!
