There aren't very many U.S. ships represented here are there?  It would be nice to get some more of the ship builders over here...

Anyway, I have a Dragon 1/700 USS Arizona that was part of a model lot somebody had on Ebay, and it should be here by Dec. 7, so I'll be happy to enter that.  I hear it is a pretty great kit.

It would also be cool to see at least one of the IJN aircraft carriers entered...

Go ahead and count me in please. I'll start with a Tamiya 1/32 A6M2b Zero. Going to try and add a Trumpeter 1/32 P-40B if I have the time. Thanks.

Ford Island Control Tower in 1/350. It'll be about 6" tall.

On December 7/41 it did not yet have the enclosure on the top, and was not that silly candy cane color scheme that they put on it for the bad movie.

I'll try to include the ground terminal buildings and a few trees.

Bondoman - So are you building the tower, for this GB? Is it scratch built?

Yessir. There's an outside stair that runs up it, can't really be seen in this photo. That'll come from the PE cave.

Ive seen that movie, Pearl Harbour. Stange how they used the late P-40 models, when they really had the early models. 

I dont believe there were any P-40Bs or Cs airworthy flying at the time when they made that movie (or even today). They also used an A6M5 for the aerial sequences. There was at least one A6M2 flying at the time they made the movie, which would have been most accurate. Yes the A6M5 is a huge improvement over the nicely modified T-6s we have seen doubling as Zeroes since Tora! Tora!Tora! But IJN Green??? One of too many gaffes in the film.

That is a beautiful sight! I prefer the lines of the early P-40B/C the best. It was the Sleekest! Where and when were those pics taken?

Which PH movie are you guys talking about?  The first was made at time when there were no flyable early P-40's, and I am not so sure the A6M5 from Maloney's museum was flying yet either.   There is no excuse for the second movie other than IMHO all connected should have been taken out and at least badly humiliated if not endured an interview with the Terminator.

If Bondo Billy is in I guess I am too.  I'll build an A6M2 that might have strafed that tower.

Omaka 2011. End of April.

Every 2 years at omaka they have a massive airshow (like wanaka but better) and every warbird that can get there goes. They had a FW-190 there but it picked up a stone the day before and had to be grounded. They also had one of these.

The Michael Bay film Pearl Harbor of 2000. Yes they had an actual restored A6M5 flying for the aerial sequences.

Unlike Tora! Tora! Tora!, real Mitsubishi Zero fighters were used. Three original Japanese aircraft were used - one operated by the Planes of Fame Museum (Chino, California), one from the Museum of Flying (Santa Monica, California) and the third from the Confederate Air Force. In "Tora! Tora! Tora!" the aircraft were all replicas constructed from WWII US Army & Navy trainers (T-6s and BT-13s) and some of them were used again in this film.

RRB, the Zero is the Doyusha 1/32 kit with an Aires cockpit and Eduard interior color PE.

don't want to commit yet, but wanted to bookmark the thread so I can follow it and maybe hop in later.

With all the things wrong with that terrible movie, you guys are picking on the specific mod of the aircraft they used. Wow, you must be skipping right over the obvious screw ups.

Wow. Just, wow. So, which inaccuracy should we name first?

First of all, there were not that many spits with the 20mm cannons at the time, I don't think He-111's will explode if you shoot the cockpits, Those guys must be a heck of a good shoot to take down a Zeke with a Tompson, I don't think that Axis pilots are quite that incompetent, and my favorite: Did that guy just shoot that 109 by holding a handgun out the window!?Seriously!?!? Well other than that, and about a gazillion of other things, they did a decent job...

Oh well.  It's a movie, not a reenactment.

Geez, it must suck to go to a movie with some of you. I happened to enjoy the heck out of Pearl Harbor.  Why?  Because it did what it was supposed to, entertain me for a couple of hours.  If I'd wanted an indepth and (hopefully) accurate account of the attack, I would've read a book or watched a documentary.  Bill, I'd say I've got you covered in case John attacks, but my Wildcat is down with starter problems.  Maybe I'll run across to one of the USAAF bases and commandeer a P-40B.
