At the risk of incurring the Wrath of Mannstein, put me down as a "probable". I've got several simple options in the stash that I could probably run out in a weekend. In no particular order...

  • 1/72 Airfix Hawker Hunter (with zero cockpit detail, thick glass & bad undercarriage - an ideal candidate for a painted-canopy pole-sitter)
  • 1/72 Airfix Saab J35 Draken that will be receiving "what-if" markings
  • 1/72 Heller AMD Ouragan

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

I'm not leaving until Sunday now so I will be around for the first part of the weekend.  I will likely start my build Thursday instead of tomorrow.  Propeller

Dupes:  Looking forward to the raider.  I always liked the look of those.  I will doing my build early as well but probably not until Tuesday.

Warjunkie:  Is that Mustang 1/48 scale?

Dostacos:  Same question, what scale?

Buddy:  Tiger markings in a 48 hour build?  You are looking for a challenge aren't you.  Yes, where is Frank?  Doesn't he have a V2 to build.  Clown

I'm pretty sure that Frank left for good. He hasn't post here in almost 5 months. I know he's OK since he posts over at LSP

Regards,

Jeff

Dave,

Since I'm feline kinda catty, put me down for the Hobby Boss Rafale B in Tiger Meet markings, divine scale of course.  Heard from Richie, he's had some family issues and a move but he's doing fine.  Now where's that scoundrel Frank?

Ok I've decided. It's going to be the Academy P-51 B with a malcom hood. Maybe Old Crowe I Really am thinking about building the Royal Airforce version in the same box though.

Dave - you can put me down for the Revell Cylon Raider. Both this weekend and next are going to be really busy, but this weekend might be less so...may be starting in on this build tomorrow! Aaaah!

Will throw up a sprueshot if I do indeed commence building.

Kugai:  I've updated the front page with your selection!  Cool

Centhot:  Read the rules on the front page.  There is some flexibility on the start date if your weekend gets messed up like mine did.  I'm going to have to start my build a few days before.

I just realised I've a guest staying over from that weekend (last minute change of plans).  I might have to work things out differently, or be rather fast with the color!

Okay, since I haven't found anything else that I'm likely to be able to finish to my satisfaction with a 48 hour limit, I'll go ahead and officially choose the Bandai 1:144 twin kit of the VF-11C from Macross 7.  The only thing left to decide is whether I'll do one of the regular paint schemes or something non-canon.

Good news and bad news.  I won't be home on the weekend of the build.  Crying  However, thankfully my own rules will allow me to do the build a few days before the weekend.  Propeller  Hopefully I will have some internet access on that weekend and at least be able to follow along even if I can't do updates on the front page.  We'll see how it goes.  I'm extremely bummed out about this.

 lewbud:

Well, I've narrowed it down to three choices.  The first is the Hobby Boss F-16A in Norwegian Tiger Meet markings.  Pretty, but kind of boring and fairly easy.  The second is a Hasegawa double kit consisting of a F9F-8 Cougar and F-11F Tiger.  This is a little more interesting in that it is two kits, the Cougar has no instructions and if completed will get me to the halfway point in my Grumman Cat Collection.  Has distinct possibilities.  The third is the 1/24 MPC/Airfix P-51D.  This has the potential to be epic.  Full cockpit, engine and operating features.  Decals are shot, but replacements can be had in time.

You do recall that this is a 48 hour build right???  Whistling

I said I'd do one of the three, not all.  I still got 12 days to go (assuming a Friday start).  However, your comment does sound like a dare.

Dan, she did all her classes at UCLA. She took classes in sumeer between her 2nd and 3rd years plus extra classes during the regular school year. A real go getter approach. As far as your football tickets go, I can think of worse things...

Thank you Bondo. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in only three years before she turned 21. I am very proud of her. Life is wide open for her, and she is doing great since then. Best of luck to you on getting the project. And with the othersWink  I suppose the 49ers are my adopted home team since I cant stand the Raiders and don't feel anything one way or another about the Chargers.

I am impressed that she was able to even get the classes she needed in 3 years, or did she attend a private school? As for favorite teams, Wife's parents had 4 season tickets to the 49ers 9th row between the 45-50 home field side so I kinda don't have a choice in the matter.

Daughters are special. She's lovely and obviously accomplished. Congratulations to you and yours, I KNOW what it takes together as a family to even approach that day.

We'll see if we get the project.

Currently very busy on the 49ers Stadium and the Cal Memorial Stadium.

I appreciate the invitation, but I won't be in your area anytime soon. I am interviewing to design the new Student Union at UCLA so I will keep you posted. And I do get down to La Jolla every year or so.

It sounds like you have quite a bit on your plate there. My oldest graduated from UCLA this past June and is very active in alumni activites there. I would love to here all about your work on the Student Union there to pass on to her.

..

BTW what are you gonna be doing down south here for business and where abouts will you be?

My wife was given one half of her fathers house (paid for) when he passed away this last February. I think you all have heard of him from time to time in my posts. He was like an uncle to me and we were great friends.

http://www.missionmortuary.com/sitemaker/sites/Missio1/obit.cgi?user=319330Nichols

We are buying out her brother. It is taking all kinds of money. Here was a guy who sent a check for $ 15.00 every Friday to his Plumbers and Steamfitters Credit Union, and his son has wasted $ 20,000 on lawyers. But I digress...

Dupes, a Cylon Raider would be very cool!  Cool

Buddy, I know what you mean.  I re-thought my build after Bill laid down the gauntlet but for now I think I will stick with my La 5.  If circumstances allow I may add another one.  Propeller
