Well, after some good progress last weekend with only a few parts left work called and told me that I had to go away for a few days.  No big deal, be back by Wednesday.  No.  Got back last night.  At least I got some overtime last week.  Anyway, here she is, Penrod and Sam.  I'm calling her finished.  It's the Arii/Otaki kit.  Actually, not too bad at all.  Great value if you can find it.

Were there things that could have been better on this kit? Absolutely.  But, it looks like a Jug and that's all I care about with this one.  Hope you all enjoy.

What did paint did you use for the NMF?

Chris, it's all Alclad.  Airframe aluminum, polished aluminum, dull aluminum, duraluminum..  Very subtle, but it's all there..

All - excellent work going on here - been meaning to drop in with a big reply, but every time I try I get swamped by something, and the reply gets longer and longer! 

Like Phoenix rising from the ashes, Lucky has been resurrected.  I almost chucked it after the decal disaster. But a set of Aeromaster decals from Ebay and Hans' tip about liquid decal film saved this bird.  It's not perfect and the flash really picks out every imperfection but it looks good on my shelf.

As for the weathering, I pre-shaded heavily, used Life Color OD, post shaded Life Color Faded OD #1, and used an oily black pin wash for the panel lines.

WVP51guy - Excellent job on a rough kit! I picked up a Lindberg F7U-1 Cutlass not too long ago, planning to build it for my dad (was his favorite plane growing up)...and ugh. If it was just scratching some cockpit details or something, okay, but Lindberg kits barely deserve the name. No gear bays even?

Tom - like the blue background. I'm always experimenting with others, but it always seems to be the cleanest route and usually the best for not messing with the colors.

Ed - digging the twin jugs! Makes me want to get crackin' on one of my -Ns!

Richard - digging the little bubbletop! The yellow bands over the OD look ace - always were my favorite theater markings (assuming this is Italy?).

Mike - nice work on Penrod & Sam! Those markings come with the kit or are they AM? Really want to do Johnson's last Razorback myself at some point.

Satch - EXCELLENT save with Lucky! I really need to get my hands on those markings. One of the best pieces of nose art out of the entire war!

Doogs - The markings for Penrod and Sam were actually kit decals.  The blue for the insignia isn't right, but otherwise they aren't too bad.  When they're on their backing paper they feel very thick but when they're on the aircraft they're not thick at all.  There's a boat load of adhesive on them so they've really gotta soak for a few minutes, but once you get over that it's ok.  They also had a tendency to wrinkle in some areas, but some Set/Sol can help you out here.  For the price of the kit, I can't complain at all.

Yes it is odd and believe me i have triple checked it but it is aluminum with yellow tips so thats what i painted it.

Unfortunately all i had to go on that was not revell's own info was that profile picture i showed earlier and it does not have the prop drawed on it. The painting instructions for Balls Out were calling for a black prop so i just assume revell did not make a mistake...
