Lovely Jug Cliff, that is an excellent model and well worth the wait. The pilot really had an eye for detail.

Thanks Tony! Haven't seen many aircraft with different cheesecake on both sides of the nose, I think two different pilots had the plane and had her painted two different ways!

Reminds me of an old cartoon I saw of a guy walking past an artist painting the nose-art on a plane and noticing a USAAF nurse wearing nothing but a smile being used as the model!

Been off the radar for a bit! You guys are putting out some superb work! Gamera, your Jug looks fantastic. Love the nose art! Also, the 48 Gabby figure is in resin and it is a very good likeness. But you are right just about any figure would probably work.

Nice -N! I did a Pro Modeller -N last year and it fought me. Took a long time to get it ready for NMF. Speaking of which, I got the pylons and fuel tank done, so mine is all done, officially:

Gamera - Thanks I have Verlinden's 48 scale USAAF Fighter Pilots on order through my LHS and there are 3 pilots, so, that should work. From the small pic, I just looked again and one does kind of look like Gabby, I think.  Maybe they had him in mind when they cast it.

I haven't checked into this GB lately and I'm quite sorry I haven't.  Those are some nice looking T-bolts.  Gamera, I just built Academy's N and It was a breeze construction wise.  Did you paint the tail stripes in or is that a decal.  Either way, nice job.   B-17 guy, I like how you altered the shade on the rudder.  I always mean to do that on my NMF subjects with unpainted rudders but I always forget.

I'm sure ya'll will appreciate this one. I have sleep problems sometimes, last night was another sleepless night. about 6 am, I started watching Great Planes, the P-47 on You Tube. I use these small clip on head phones. Well, I was just nicely dozing off, when all of a sudden, I hear an explosion. My first thought was somthing blew up outside here. (I live in a nice quiet little city in NW PA) Then I opened my eyes and saw what it was on the computer screen. It was a Jug starting up. LOL

BTW, I finally picked up my Jug yesterday. Today is a painting day, So I'll rip into the plastic inner bag tomorrow. (I already ripped the cellophane off last night LOL) Unless, I get my other projects painted and then get bored tonight.

Joe: Thanks! I painted the yellow areas and then the black stripes were decals. The decals stripes were made for the Academy kit and didn't exactly fit the Promodeler one so I ended up doing a bunch of cutting and fitting to make them fit. Again next time I'll just go with the friggin' Academy kit in the first place . 

GT98: Lol, I'm not surprised with that monster of a mill the P-47 had! Looking forward to seeing your P-47 come out. 

BTW: My Tamiya P-47D is close to done, I seem to have broken off all the molded on anti-sway braces for the centerline slipper tank and am trying to make more with wire. 

Gamera - Your Jug is looking good. Did they paint them like that? Camo wings and NMF on the fuselage?

I never seen one like that.

Good luck on the anti sway braces. if it works for you, I might be asking how you did it. LOL

Thanks, y'all! The NMF was all Alcad II products, the rudder (and alierons) are the flat alunimum shade, as they are fabric, which where painted alunimum to simulate the NMF.

Ken: The whole P-47N except the anti-glare nose panel and tail are NM, funny the wings do look the same colour as the OD green nose in the photo there. I put this old photo up because Joe asked about the stripes on her tail. Kinda before the decals and after. The kit I'm replacing the sway braces on is a second kit - this one a P-47D by Tamiya- sorry for the confusion there

Not a problem for the confusion. But that is strange the way the wings took on the same hue as the camo. I guess it's the computers. I had a 1972 GMC Sprint which was the same body as the El Camino. Anyway mine was orange but when i scanned the photo into my computer, it made it look red. Thats one of my builds i did when i got back into the hobby. When I decided to build a model of it. I found that no one built a kit of the 72 El Camino. but they did make a 68 El Camino, which had the same body as the 72 but with a different front clip. So I found a 72 chevelle body and cut each one apart to make it a 72 GMC (El Camino) Sprint

For example the landing gear legs are molded as part of the gear bay interior so when you assemble the wings you have to put the legs on too instead of waiting to add them after painting!

Funny how photos can distort colours. And I certainly don't mind car stories - I'd model them myself but I have so much trouble getting a nice clean glossy finish, I do better when I can slap a little dirt and mud on 'em

I was just looking at the landing gear in the kit parts and in the instructions. I don't see that happening. it looks like you can assemble the  LG after its painted. Do you think maybe they had complaints? and changed it.

Ken: This kit is the Promodeler P-47N not the D. It's a newer kit, all recessed panel lines and good detailing- just odd in some places.

Cool, I haven't built the Monogram D but still I've done about four Jugs in the last 2-3 years - I love 'em!

Doogs just posted over on the aircraft forum yesterday but I haven't seen him around here in sometime. I'm not sure what's going on with him, he posts less than he used to, he may be one of the guys that mostly left this forum- I haven't talked to him about it. I don't think anyone will object to you posting here, on the other hand the Natural Metal IV GB is still going on and if you do a NM P-47 she'd fit right in. There's the Berny GB II also coming up- Berny was an USAF ground crewman so she'd fit in there too.

Maybe I should send Doogs a message and see what he's up to?

I'm going to do Gabreski's Camo Razorback, because it's local history. He was originally from the same town that I grew up in and still live in; Oil City, PA. I also got to go to and hear him describe the attack on Pearl Harbor at the first airshow we had at the Franklin, PA airport. About 10 miles from here.

One thing I'll never forget is: the morning of the airshow, I was having car problems and trying to work them out. Then all of a sudden we heard an extremely loud roaring. I looked up to see a B-17 flying no more than 50 or 60 feet above my head. Then I absolutley HAD to go to the airshow. its funny, If there is reincarnation, I had to have been a pilot in a past life. The strange thing is, I've never been higher up than the roof I was working on where I use to live. LOL I also admit that I have a fear of heights.

When I got back into modeling, I bought the best Aztec Airbrush Testors has. I haven't got into using it for camo jobs, so, I guess nows the time. Yea, I know practice with it first.

B-17,Gamera great pair of jugs! Man so been waiting for the oppurtunity to use that line! I'm in the process of getting issues sorted on Elsie,going back and 'fixing' some errors and adding tint to the nmf along with adding the missing invasion stripes on the belly. Been busy juggling g/b projects so its taking a bit longer than expected,
