Ken - No worries, I'll be following along with you. Heck, since this GB seems to be getting a prolonged status maybe I'll turn some attention back to my failed paint job and strip the paint and finish my Jug. I had kind of set that on the back burner.

Guys: The mods have nothing to do enforcing the rules of the GB, I talked to Doogs and he's mostly on the other site now so I doubt he's going to drop the hammer on anyone!

Sorry to hear Doogs moved on. I sure enjoyed his participation and his builds. Yeah, I didn't figure anyone would get their undies in a wad. Heck, we're all here simply for the sake of modeling with each other anyway.

Too true Joe,hate to see Doogs walk away all the same. I'll miss seeing his builds for sure.

He hasn't totally left but the way things look I do doubt he'll be posting much.

Nice job on Elsie Trey.  I was unaware people were "jumping ship" for another forum.  I didn't think there was anything wrong with this one.  I've gotten alot of great tips here and hopefully I've presented a few.  Assuming by "mods" you mean the format of the forum.  This fomat seems to be user friendly to me, and truthfully I can't remember what the former was even like.

Joe: Things got a little crazy with personal attacks etc some months ago and the mods really had to crack down. Some people got honked off and left. Things have settled down a lot since then.

CAn anyone tell me what color grey should be used for the underside of a camo P 47

I have Testors 1226 Flat Dark aircraft grey, but for some reason it just doesnt look right to me.

I think 'slipper' tank is the right term, not 100% sure. I think I have one from an old Hasegawa kit, I'll see if I can find it when I get home.

The underside of a camo P-47 should be regular USAAF neutral grey and the uppers USAAF OD green normally.  I've heard the field applied camo on Gabby's plane was pulled from RAF stocks though so the uppers were probably RAF grey and green. Were his P-47's undersides NM or grey? 

Thanks Gamera the under side was gray. I have the dark green for the upper, But I'm just not sure about the gray, I'll keep looking.

Ken: Found the old trashed P-47 but the tank wasn't with the kit. Will keep looking, if nothing else I'll tear into some boxes of old scrapped kits this weekend.

Hey all - as Gamera says I've mostly decamped to SPAR. In large part because I feel this place hasn't been the same since the redesign/new forum software. Wasn't too thrilled about how it was communicated (i.e. not at all) or having to click use rich formatting or the useless mobile mode, but the new frontpage ditched recent posts in favor of just a bunch of categories, and to me the drop in activity was immediately noticeable.  So I started spending more time on SPAR, and over time it's just become lopsided. 

Long way of saying...I do still poke my head in, and nobody needs my permission to build a Jug!

Actually working on one myself right now...just knocked out the last of the paint masks and next it's on to cleaning up the paint lift.

Gamera - Thanks. And I found the neutral Gray for the underside of Gabby's Jug. Testor's has it and I ordered it today (along with the sublime green (yellow)). I'm getting there.

Doogs - I just wasn't sure if it was okay to build the jug, since the GB was technically over. But ?I figured if I was still sugned up, I'd give it a go and if anyone objected, I'd give the badge back.

Thats going to be one great looking Jug you got there, I'm sure. I understand how format/program changes can throw one for a loop. Verizon did theirs not too long ago. I'm finally getting used to it now.

Doogs: Sorry, didn't mean to speak for you but several people as you can see asked about you so I thought I'd try to give them an update. Funny, I've gotten pretty used to the new forum though yes it is a lot slower than things used to be.

Nice work on the French Jug, now that's something you don't see too often. Love the yellow stripes.

I'll keep looking but frankly I'm baffled at this point where it may have gotten to since it doesn't seem to be with the trashed old model or in any of my spare parts boxes. Things aren't looking too good right now - sorry.

Well I finished the Tamiya P-47D last week and then took photos over the weekend. For some reason the yellow nose turned out funny in the photos- not sure if it was due to the overcast skies or some strange colour adjustment on my Droid phone, maybe I should drag out the camera next time. Anyway here's one of the better photos:

Absolutely Outstanding Cliff!! Man, You did a terrific job on your Jug. It was definitely worth the wait for you to produce such an excellent P-47. I'm with Trey, more pics.
