There are BOOKS? About painting?!?!?! Why has nobody told me about this before?!?!  Stick out tongue

I desperately try not to pour them at all, after stirring I usually transfer what I need by dunking the end of a paintbbrush or microbrush (ridges hold the paint a little longer). But I still manage to end up with a drip or two on the rim.

Spotted that at while online in my iPod, couldn't add any text but was able to paste the link. I honestly don't NEED another Flanker.... but that Trumpeter kit is a 2-seater UB, with curves in all the right spot!  I'll have to keep my eyes open for a deal - if it's a good deal I can't pass it up, right?? Embarrassed

Vance, you're asking the guy who has 29 Flankers of different scales if you need another one?!?

The short answer is...  yes.Smile

As long as you're staying busy and out of trouble!Wink

I haven't made any progress since the last update...  work keeps getting in the way of models.Bang Head

But...  the decals I placed in the window weeks ago to sun-bleach have been fading nicely, so the UV treatment does work!   A few more days and they'll be ready to use on the missiles.

I picked up a copy of, uhh, well... "a British modelling magazine that shall not be spoken of here" Whistling, they had a release note about a Flanker from Zvezda in 1/72, sounded like a new kit, but haven't checked around yet...

Did some Heinkel work last night, decals that I want to leave alone, so I should have some Flanker-ish updates tomorrow. (I've been working all the cockpits over the past couple days)

Heh..  I only have to worry about the large-ish ones- 24 are 1/350 scale so y'all need to get to building and claim them!

I'll worry about storage once I actually finish one....  sometime next year at this pace.Confused

That Condor looks sweet, no matter what scale.  It has such nice lines for it's time.  At 37 cm x 45 cm, it'll have a presence.  It's a large tail-dragger, so you could hang it nose down on the wall if your ceiling is high enough...Smile

That Condor is pretty much the same size as this 1/32 Stuka ( I measured ), and this is an 8' high ceiling so it ought to fit nicely on a wall with some escorts...Bf109 and Fw190.

Well gents - as promised here are some WIP shots.  I have started the Zvesda 1/72nd Su-37.  I forgot to snap a pic of the cockpit, but really there isnt anything to see in there at all.

All in all the kit is not bad - just very basic and rough.  All the panel lines are raised and way too large for the scale.  There is no detail at all in the wheel wells or inlets.  The basic shape looks ok though, so I am ok with it.

On to the Pics:

I didnt care for the "tabs" that were supposed to connect the wings to the fusalage, so I drilled two holes and ran a small brass rod all the way through.  Seems to be much more secure now, but in the process I attached the wings about 1mm too high and had to fill and sand quite a bit.  So I decided that all the panel lines needed to go, and I used the 1/72nd scale riveting tool to help re create the panel lines.  Next step will be to scribe some more of the lines.

After that I'll begin work on the wheel wells and the intakes, etc.

Thanks for looking.

I don't have these problems again Whistling

After the test i see the only shelves where the four bombers could be placed are already used , so i will need new ones or move out the actual occupiers Embarrassed

Well done blkhwkmatt , i heard no good things about the zvezda flanker family but looking there the things seems not so bad and the kit looks like a perfect low cost base for extra details!!

blkhwkmatt - wow, shaping up quickly! Raised lines - I was under the impression that the Zvezda kits were relatively new tooling? My Italeri kits are also raised panel lines, but if I don't require any major putty work I plan on keeping them that way. Not sure I have the patience to re-scribe anything! The leading edge extensions for the little forward winglets look proper though, something my Italeri kits are lacking.

Looking good, hopefully I'll be dropping my cockpit in & sealing her up this weekend.

bsyamato - ahhh display space. If only I could find a way to remove her clothes/shoes from the extra closet?!?! Whistling

this is a way, another is to remove ornamental plants (a ficus = 30 1/72 ww2 fighters) and some other unnecessary ornament (i hope your wife don't read the forum Whisper )

Blkhwkmatt- that looks good so far!   There's not much detail to add to the intakes other than than the FOD screens and a little wiring in the wells ought to do it, if that's the sort of thing you were planning on adding.

You've made as much progress on yours as I have on mine, maybe even more..Smile

Bsyamato..  a missing Ficus is hard to explain...  I'd love to hear that conversation!

Vance - the kit is very rough, has pretty much battled with me the whole way so far.  I have had to sand, fit, re-sand, fit, glue and fill almost everything.  Still have some more putty work to do, but am also figuring out how to position the horizontal stabs to cover a canyon of a seam.

the LEX's are pretty close to what they are supposed to look like, and that is a huge bonus, so the shape will be close overall.  I will not be hanging any missles as they are very crude, the fins as thick as every other piece of plastic on the kit.
