Sparrowhyperion

I'm glad you guys liked it.  Yeh Dom, you'd have a rather large hobby space. lol

Scorpio, Carrara is a great package and one of the really nice things is that it can directly open Poser content.  So the figures I do on Poser can be loaded right into a Carrara scene.  It can also do animation, although my machine doesn't have the Kahoneys to do that yet...  Maybe on the next upgrade in a few years.  Here is a link to my Gallery on Renderosity.com if you want to see some older stuff I have done.  I haven't updated it in quite some time since I have been too busy Plastic modeling lol.

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?username=sparrownightmare

Well Rich:

After seeing all those designs and renderings, I've decided

to forgive you for a smudge or two on the styrene kits!....lol...

Well done.....takes me back a few light years.......lol Yes

If I ever dig up my old Sonica Series work I'll post it, when you see it, you'll understand......

Thanks Dom.  I'll be looking forward to seeing your designs.

I'm going to TRY and use the metalizer on the F86..  I might be ready to shoot the micro-filler/Primer tomorrow.   Then I'll let it cure overnight.  At least the Alclad II comes already in the proper viscosity so I won't have to worry about over or under thinning it.  Does anyone have any recommendations as to proper pressure for using it?  I think I'll just use the stock decals on it.

I am taking a break for the night so I'm sitting here listening to Queen, ELO, Captain & Tenille and The Archies on my stereo.  Vinyl sounds so much more depth than an MP3 file or CD.  I managed to get the Quad channels working.  Unfortunately, the tape deck I got was DOA when I tried to listen to it this AM.  Now I have to look for a replacement on eBay. lol

When I get done with the Sabre, I am thinking I might do my Mk II BG Viper Kit.  I've been wanting to do it for a while now.

Marissa starts her first year of High School on the 22nd.  So any Daddy Daughter projects are going to be few and far between.  She's in the marching band so She's going to be a bit too busy to do stuff with her old man I think.  I'm really going to miss that.

Well back to the Carrara model, have a great night folks.

Rich

I finally got everythig together for my bomb trailer. The HO scale Great Dane trailer I started with turned out to be too small overall. So I replaced the bed with a wider one and replaced the wheel assemblies with the bogies from an Academy 1/72 M35 2.5 ton tractor. I replaced the differentials with axels and brake assemblies made from sprue. The bomb runners are made of basswood (I don't recommend this - too hard to work with; next time I'll use styrene strips). Waiting on another tractor to finally complete the assembly.

Well, I can't seem to get motivated for anything right now. It's been two months now and I still feel like hell. I know some of you have lost loved ones, have any of you ever sought out any sort of counseling?

Ive been through counselling for certain things. For me i found it easier to work through things on my own. But my partner had to go through it for PTSD after the earthquakes. Shes still a bit shakey, but it helped immensely. Talk to your GP first. They can get you a referral which usually helps get you in sooner and sometimes cheaper.

Jim:

Almost did a few times, sometimes it's hard to find someone to talk to. Most of the time it is just about getting things off your chest and putting them into words, because these things are messy and need to be put into some kind of perspective.

Unless you have someone to talk with, it makes sense to find a counselor to help make sense of the whole mess. Once you are able to tell your story, and verbalize the feelings, you'll be able to deal with it better. A counselor can help you do that.

Mind you, the pain never really goes away, we just get a lot better at handling it. Give it a try if you are so inclined.

Thanks for the good words, Ken! Yes, it pretty much came down to that. Unfortunately, I had no choice - there just weren't any 1/72 scale flatbed semitrailers to be had anywhere. The frame was still useble and gave me something to attach the new bed and bogies to. And I was able to piece together a wider front plate from the two versions that came with the kit. I'd like to say it was fun, but it weren't Smile.

Hi Jim,

My wife works in hospice, and she highly recommends counseling.  Don't hesitate, you need to have someone you can talk to.  We here on this forum are always ready to help as much as we can, but that won't be enough for what you need.

My Dad past away I am still greiving after more than 2 years now.  I still miss him terribly.

Hi Russ,

I ordered a copy of this photo off of eBay and the same guy is offering another copy of it.  It is a B-52F from the 320 BW and has Vietnam bomb mission markings.  It was taken at Kadena in November 1967.  It is an 8 x 12 glossy photo:

Here is a link to it:

Wow, cool photo, Ken! That would be the squadron we relieved in April 68 then. The 320th was out of Mather AFB in California. I don't know anything about the F model but it looks like there were some enhancements to the engines at least. Probably an upgrade to the ECM systems as well.

Thanks for sharing this, Ken,

No problem Russ.  From what I have gathered, the B-52F is a B-52D with the engines upgraded to the J57-P-43W (the same engines used on the "G" model).

Hi Everyone,

Well I am no longer in the running on something I was hoping to win on eBay.  It went out of my price range (currently sitting at $215.00).  It was a Paragon Designs conversion kit to convert the 1/48 B-29 into a B-50.  Here is a link if anybody is interested:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160862076403

I was actually going to convert it into a KB-50J (I already have the conversion kit to convert the 1/48 B-29 into a KB-29).  If I was able to land this kit, the only thing left would have been to scratch build the two extra General Electric J47 turbojets to mount under the outer wings.

The only chance now is if I win the lottery!  Surprise  Oh well, I do have enough other kits to keep me busy for quite a while, maybe in another two years this kit will show up again!

I make it a point to never buy an AM kit that is more expensive than the kit it goes with.  Some of those resin conversions and even a lot of the PE kits are ridiculous.

Yes, thanks Ken very cool photo.

Sorry the $215 was outa' reach. I always find a way to rationalize that kind of purchase. See, i would tell myself,

"yeah, it is way too expensive, but if I spend 20 hours trying scratch those details, i will lose a lot of money because I will pay for it twice in time. See, if I get it, then I get my time to enjoy the kit rather than struggle to re-engineer it. I'll just put off buying other kits for the next 5 months or so.......rarity counts in this business."

Besides, you have to count your time searching for stuff. If you don't get this one, how much time at $40 an hour can you afford to keep trawling for one even cheaper. Every minute you spend looking needs to be deducted from future price in order for it to be at Par.

Losing the convenience of immediate accessibility to acquire something rare is also an important "opportunity cost."

Dom,

You may make any suggestion you think fit, my friend, and I certainly appreciate that one. I'm not that experienced in weathering so I'm studying up on it, but want to be sure it's consistant for the whole diorama. I plan to wait until I have all of the vehicles and support equipment built and the diorama base finished, and then do the weathering in one fell swoop. That way I can compare them against each other and against the plane. Does that make sense, or do you recommend another approach?
