Ninetalis: Looking forward to how she comes out, I love British aircraft but oddly have never built a Mossie. I have to pick up one in 1/48th one of these days.

Doogs: A 1/32th B-25 has to be awesome  Yes

Undersides of the A-20 is painted and masked, I should be able to get the uppers painted this Easter weekend. Will get more photos posted when I take the masking off.

bsyamato - nice He-111! I keep eyeing that massive Revell 1/32 kit (and the Ju-88), but I've held out. So far.

Also - saw an update from Pacific Coast Models yesterday that the HK B-25 has shipped out to them...not long now!

Hey all,
I wanted to join in but I don't want to overload myself with projects that I maybe couldn't finish.
But I do have this Mossie waiting on the assembly line,
And this one will surely be done by the end of this year.

So, allright to join or is it to far down the road to enter?

With regards, Ninetalis.

Bsyamato: Thanks, the A-20 was a nice looking plane, I don't think the replacement (the A-26 Invader) was as pretty even though it was more powerful.

One think I really like about American planes is so many got crazy nose-art Heart

Thanks Ed! Yeah, I'll probably lag a bit on this as I need to press on with my 109G-14 build. I did just get a hassie 1/72 B-26B, with some associated AM for this build. Lots of differing schemes for B-26's out there. I like the "mixed" OD and Aluminum, or grey, with heavy wear on the OD. However, I'm going in favor of alclad, invasion stripes, and...'cheesecake' toting guns...

Len,

Really?  As you can see I used some putty where the rudder fit and the tops of the engine nacelles but other than that everything seemed to go together pretty well. I used a little Mister Surfacer in a few gaps but didn't have any big problems.

Guess I've built so many horrible limited run kits that by now this kit seems like a shake and bake  Wink

Gamera

Ok here's where the A-20 light bomber stands. Fit is overall excellent. Masked and painted her undersides after I took the photo. Hopefully I'll get to the uppers by the end of the week.

Cliff

"Fit is over all excellent"..?  Cliff, I believe you are the first person I ever heard say that about this kit..assuming it`s the AMT offering..lol. My "paint mule" is an old AMT Havoc...fought so much with that kit that I cried uncle. I`ve built one since then, after building up my skill level a bit and have to agree it`s a good kit...I still had trouble with the nose but I knew it was coming...Wink

Tom: Very nice badge! And thanks to Doogs for the photo.

Love those Kits World cheesecake decals, I wish I'd thought of that idea- every plane is better with sexy nose-art...

Tom- Yes, I have tried it one time before. It was on an old Chevy truck that I wanted to look "used up". It worked pretty well, but I wanted it really weathered so I used the salt technique over top of it to give it that old, crusty look. I think just hairspray should work pretty well considering the fact we are just giving the impression of peeling paint, not rust. I will give you a play by play on how it goes.

Ed. Have you ever done the "hairspray technique"? I've never tried it but it sure looks like a really neat way to do things. I found a video about it here.

The old "Hey Maker" should be real sweet when you are done. I agree with you, it is hard to beat  OD, Alclad and invasion stripes. That pistol packin' mama should look good up on the nose too! Very Texas, Tom!

I am looking forward to getting started on "Dina" and wearing out that OD! Better warn my wife now she is gonna need more hairspray! Whistling

I`m not nit picking and I know there`s not a whole lot of space there but, shouldn`t it say "Twin Engine Bomber" ?

Might I suggest incorporating this?

Excellent! Thanks a bunch, Doogs! That's exactly along the lines of what I was thinking of.

I'll cut it down to the plane and bombs and put the GB theme on it.

 bsyamato:

intresting rare lightning

Here's an even rarer Lightning:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/HansvonHammer/Aircraft%20Profiles/P-38s/P-38ScatterbrainKid.jpg?t=1332170625

This one is the P-38J that belongs to the (former) Confederate Air Force (now "Comemmorative Air Force), as the "Scatterbrained-Kid".  It was rare as it was the only airworthy Droop-snoot, but went one step farther as the only Three-seat P-38 in existance.  It had the P-38M's radar operator position and well as the bombardier nose, which made even rarer....
